Hello people! Today we bid farewell to April, and with it, the readings it gave us! For me, it gave me six books, or well, I tried to make six. To be honest, I still have two pending books. ^^' Let's take a look and talk a little...

• Frankenstein: Wow. Heavy, difficult, thick, but now I can understand why this story was such an impact on its time. I'm definitely writing about it and will read another book from Shelly.
• Paranormalcy: It was a pleassure to read this story again and to fall in love with the characters again. I'm preparing the video review, but in the mean time, you can be sure I'm including the next book for May!
• Pieces of the Soul: I'm not sure if this book counts, but I already reviewed it my channel. Grab your copy today if you like Gothic-erotic poetry and photography!
• The Damned Vol. 1: One of the not so awesome readings of the moment. I cannot say I liked this comic, but it served its purpose and it entertained me, but I thought it would be better.
• Children of Wisdom Trilogy: Pending. Mea culpa. The style and the plot are good, but something keeps coming in between this book and me everytime I try to read it.
• Road Ghosts Omnibus Edition: Just like before, I always get interrupted when I grab this book, but I must say that I cannot connect with the characters or the general plot. Something's not working between us.

Musical Friday / Viernes Musicales: Sweet Dreams (Eurythmics - Steve Angello Remix)

Hello over there, Nocturnes!

I'm sharing with you the song that helped me write faster and that I listed to (surprise) while I do my exercises. I never liked retro music, but this Steve Angelo remix  of Sweet Dreams, of Eurythmics, is beyond amazing!
The song was used for the film Atomic Blonde, and I already want to watch it just because of the track and the background image for the entry's header. It gives me a lot of energy and uplifts me in a way I didn't expect when I heard it the first time.
Don't forget to read the newest chapter of Cats' Seal on Wattpad. If everything goes right, I should publish it today. I'll see you tomorrow on my Facebook page to talk about the book and the entire series!

Estoy compartiendo con ustedes la canción que me ayudó a escribir más rápido y que escucho (sorpresa) mientras hago mis ejercicios. Nunca me gustó la música retro, ¡pero este remix de Steve Angelo de Sweet Dreams, de Eurythmics, es increíble!
La canción se utilizó para la película Atomic Blonde, y ya quiero verla solo por la pista y la imagen de fondo del encabezado de la entrada. Me da mucha energía y me eleva de una manera que no esperaba cuando la escuché la primera vez.
No olviden leer el capítulo más reciente de Sello de los Gatos en Wattpad. Si todo va bien, debería publicarlo hoy. ¡Los veré mañana en mi página de Facebook para hablar sobre el libro y toda la serie!

Newrocks video presentation! / ¡Video presentación de Newrocks!

On the other hand, there are very good news today!

After a poll on my Twitter, I accepted the challenge: this Saturday you will see me live on my Facebook page on a book presentation for Weirdos of Newrocks and the first book in the series, Cats' Seal. This first one is in Spanish, but the next one will be on English, I promise. ;)

I wish I had told you before, but... Well, you know. The important thing is that you are aware now and I'll be all yours for two hours, enough time to talk a lot and answer as much questions as you may have. Also, who knows, maybe I have a Tarot deck waiting to be used at the end of the event. ;)

Desearía haberles dicho antes, pero... Bueno, ya saben. Lo importante es que ya están al tanto y que seré todo suyo durante dos horas, tiempo suficiente para hablar mucho y responder a todas las preguntas que puedan tener. Además, quién sabe, tal vez tengo una baraja de Tarot esperando para ser usada al final del evento. ;)

What's happening in here? / ¿Qué está pasando aquí?

Hello people.

As you have noticed, I haven not been able to update the blog on time this week, along with other several things. The reason is simple: There are A LOT of electrical problems in my city and other parts of the state.

I'm still trying to keep the same pace, but so far it has been pretty challenging as you can tell; hell, even the video was supposed to be ready this Friday but I could only upload it yesterday, just like it{s happening with Newrocks. I promise you I'm doing my best, but my time is now even shorter.

As I've said before, consider supporting me so I can dedicate all my time and efforts to my books, my stories, the blog and the channel. If you like what I'm doing and want to see more of it, know you can help me do it. :)

Hola gente.

Como habrán notado, no he podido actualizar el blog a tiempo esta semana, junto con otras varias cosas. La razón es simple: Hay MUCHOS problemas eléctricos en mi ciudad y otras partes del estado.

Todavía estoy tratando de mantener el mismo ritmo, pero hasta ahora ha sido bastante desafiante como pueden ver; demonios, incluso el video se suponía que estaría listo este viernes, pero solo pude subirlo ayer, al igual que sucede con Newrocks. Les prometo que estoy haciendo mi mejor esfuerzo, pero mi tiempo ahora es aún más corto.

Como he dicho antes, consideren apoyarme para poder dedicar todo mi tiempo y esfuerzo a mis libros, mis historias, el blog y el canal. Si les gusta lo que estoy haciendo y quieren ver más, sepan que pueden ayudarme a hacerlo. :)

A couple of weeks ago I came across a talented electric violinist from South Africa, and after giving her a chance, I realized I was addicted to one of her songs, which I still play on Youtube, a lot. I'm speaking about Isis, by Caitlin de Ville.

This track has something  that makes me come to it again and again. It combines pop, rock and has a slightly dark sound that I enjoy a lot. This girl literally rocks! The track is available in several websites so you can listen to it for free or buy it and support Caitlin.

Hace un par de semanas me encontré con una talentosa violinista eléctrica de Sudáfrica, y después de darle una oportunidad, me di cuenta de que estaba adicto a una de sus canciones, que aún reproduzco en Youtube, mucho. Estoy hablando de Isis, de Caitlin de Ville.
Esta canción tiene algo que me hace ir a ella una y otra vez. Combina pop, rock y tiene un sonido ligeramente oscuro que disfruto mucho. ¡Esta chica literalmente rockea! La pista está disponible en varios sitios web para que puedan escucharla gratis o comprarla y apoyar a Caitlin.

Subtitling my YouTube videos / Subtitulando mis videos en Youtube

Hi Nocturnes!

It's not a secret between us that I have a Youtube channel. I'm tired of the same empty-minded videos I keep finding over and over again, so I'm searching for more interesting topics that make you think, that give you something to talk about each Friday, and that includes subtitling my videos, all of them, new and old.

But I will need your help to do it! Right now, I'm giving much of my content for free, and that puts a limit on how much I can do, how much time I can dedicate to my passion and how good that can be, because I still need to, you know, eat, sleep, help to pay the bills at home. This means, for Youtube matters, that I can only work on the newest as soon as they are published.

That's why I need your support me and be part of my dark army today! That way, I will be able to do better videos, put subtitles in all of them and, the best part, you'll get to watch them before they are published.

If you like what I'm doing and want to help me with this, be my patrons and spread the word about it. The faster we grow, the better this will become!

No es un secreto entre nosotros que tengo un canal de Youtube. Estoy cansado de los mismos videos de mente vacía que sigo encontrando una y otra vez, así que estoy buscando temas más interesantes que los hagan pensar, que les den algo de qué hablar cada viernes, y eso incluye subtitular mis videos, todos ellos, nuevos y viejos.

¡Pero necesitaré su ayuda para hacerlo! En este momento, doy gran parte de mi contenido de forma gratuita, y eso pone un límite a lo que puedo hacer, cuánto tiempo puedo dedicar a mi pasión y qué tan bueno puede ser, porque todavía necesito, ya saben, comer, dormir, ayudar a pagar las cuentas en casa. Esto significa, para asuntos de Youtube, que solo puedo trabajar en los más nuevos tan pronto como se publiquen.

¡Es por eso que necesito su apoyo y que sean parte de mi ejército oscuro hoy! De esa forma, podré hacer mejores videos, poner subtítulos en todos ellos y, la mejor parte, podrán verlos antes de que se publiquen.

I translated a book! / ¡Traduje un libro!

Hello everyone! Today I come with big good news. ^^

To have author friends has always been awesome, and I have met a lot of wonderful, talented people since I became a writer, but I also had the chance to work on amazing books, and this entry is about one of those cases!

My friend Kel Bathory recently published a book with her poems and photographs she and Ray LaCroix (which is also a writer, meet him here and here) took during 2017. Guess who was in charge of the English translation and the prologue?

I already knew Kel was a good writer and I was amazed by the photos she and Ray worked in, but to be part of this project meant a lot to me and gave me the chance to work with two people I highly admire. Click of the cover to buy your copy, and you will find another surprise inside: I'll simply said that it doesn't matter if you speak English or Spanish. ^^

Tener amigos autores siempre ha sido increíble, y he conocido a muchas personas maravillosas y talentosas desde que me convertí en escritor, pero también tuve la oportunidad de trabajar en libros increíbles, ¡y esta entrada trata sobre uno de esos casos!

Mi amiga Kel Bathory recientemente publicó un libro con sus poemas y fotografías que ella y Ray LaCroix (que también es escritor, lo pueden conocer aquí y aquí) tomaron durante 2017. ¿Adivinan quién estuvo a cargo de la traducción al inglés y el prólogo?

Ya sabía que Kel era una buena escritora y me sorprendieron las fotos en las que ella y Ray trabajaron, pero ser parte de este proyecto significó mucho para mí y me dio la oportunidad de trabajar con dos personas a las que admiro mucho. Thinking: I agree with Bradbury / Pensando: Concuerdo con Bradbury

Hey there boys. :)
I believe that there's a reason for everything that happens in this life, that there's a meaning in everything and that if we encounter something unexpected, then it was meant to happen, no matter what we may try to think after the event took place.
A phrase I found not so long ago resonated with me so much I wanted to share it with you. It is from US author Ray Bradbury, and it summarizes pretty well what writing means to me, or maybe what it has become as years passed:

"You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you." Ray Bradbury.

I've always been honest about my struggles with depression, Asperger and even self-harming. More recently, I discovered that I may have another mental health issue, lucky me! But that's totally fine as long as a keyboard is near to me.

As long as I can write about anything, even keep a journal (a topic I'll speak about soon, keep an eye on the blog *wink*) I'll feel fine. Ironically, I also came across a phrase that I instantly felt connect with as I worked on this entry:

"Jump, and you will find out how to unfold your wings as you fall." Ray Bradbury.

Well, I'm still waiting for those wings to come out. I bet they will be fucking gorgeous.
PS: In case you noticed, I couldn't update Cats' Seal this Friday; thank my Internet for that. But I already published two chapters, so let's pretend nothing ever happened. ^^

Creo que hay una razón para todo lo que pasa en esta vida, que hay un significado en todo y que si encontramos algo inesperado, entonces estaba destinado a suceder, sin importar lo que intentemos pensar después de que el evento haya tenido lugar.
Una frase que encontré no hace tanto tiempo me resonó tanto que quise compartirla con ustedes. Es del autor estadounidense Ray Bradbury, y resume bastante bien lo que la escritura significa para mí, o tal vez lo que se ha convertido a medida que pasaron los años:

"Debes mantenerte borracho en la escritura para que la realidad no te destruya." Ray Bradbury

Siempre he sido honesto acerca de mis luchas con la depresión, Asperger e incluso autolesiones. Más recientemente, descubrí que podría tener otro problema de salud mental, ¡tan suertudo yo! Pero eso está bien siempre y cuando el teclado esté cerca de mí.
Mientras pueda escribir sobre cualquier cosa, incluso llevar un diario (un tema sobre el que hablaré pronto, mantengan un ojo en el blog *guiño*) estaré bien. Irónicamente, también encontré una frase con la que instantáneamente me sentí conectado mientras trabajaba en esta entrada:

"Salta, y descubrirás cómo desplegar tus alas mientras caes". Ray Bradbury.

Bueno, sigo esperando que salgan esas alas. Apuesto a que serán jodidamente hermosas.
PD: En caso de que lo hayan notado, no pude actualizar Sello de los Gatos este viernes; den las gracias a mi Internet por eso. Pero ya publiqué dos capítulos, así que pretendamos que nunca pasó nada. ^^

Today I'm not coming with a band-singer themed entry. One cannot remain doing the same thing over and over again, right? I decided to share with you tracks I've been recently listening to. The interesting part is that they are from the Underworld sountracks!

Hoy no voy a venir con una entrada temática de cantante o banda. Uno no puede seguir haciendo lo mismo una y otra vez, ¿verdad? Decidí compartir con ustedes pistas que he escuchado recientemente. ¡La parte interesante es que son de los soundtracks de Inframundo!

I'm not sure why, but this songs helps me write a lot faster, and I also love it!

No estoy seguro de por qué, pero esta canción me ayuda a escribir mucho más rápido, ¡y también me encanta!

Despite I love Evanescence's original songs, this one sounds way much better remixed.
A pesar de que me encantan las canciones originales de Evanescence, esta suena mucho mejor remezclada.

Did I say that I write faster with the first song? This one is even better, and has helped me a lot with Cats' Seal. (New chapter today, by the way!)
¿Dije que escribo más rápido con la primera canción? Esta es aún mejor, y me ha ayudado mucho con Sello de los Gatos. (¡Nuevo capítulo hoy, por cierto!)

Thinking: Are diverse books a need or a whim? / Pensando: ¿Son los libros diversos una necesidad o un capricho?

Hey guys, anyone in the mood to think a little?

I'm the first one to raise a hand when people ask me if I support gender and sexual diversity. There has been so much confusion about this topic because some seem to think diverse books, stories, characters, and ideas in general are just a whim, something a segment of the public is demanding, not asking for. And this is so wrong I cannot remain silence.

To be blunt and brutally honest, imagine stories with only white characters, or only black people, only Asiands, only Arabics, with a lot of people claiming that that is the way to write, that we should and must not include any other race. Sounds pretty stupid for you, I bet. The same happens with gender and sexuality, with a little plot twist.

"Children will get confused if they see two men kissing!" Please, really? If that would be the case, then there would have never, ever, been a gay or a lesbian in the first place, because they always saw men kissing women. That didn't change who they were or what they liked,a and just as gay and lesbian children didn't change, so will be the case for the straight ones.
Just to give you a more graphic example, let's return to the one-race-only books. Does it sounds stupid to believe white people will become black or Asian or Arabic if they read about characters who are? If it does for you, get away from this blog and go see a psychologist.

The idea of including diverse characters is to help children understand there's nothing wrong with that. Think about those boys and girls who feel out of place when they see only movies, book, TV series and more creative content that only show straight, cisgender characters: they think there's something wrong with them, that they are sick, or that they are less than straight people. Again, you'll feel the same if you lived in a world with only one race being portrayed on the media.
I'm not saying that we should always include diverse content in what we do. A story could be ruined if the content doesn't have a purpose or is out of place, but think about alternative ways of doing it: maybe a short dialogue, a secondary character, a short, quick thought of the main character on the topic. Everything helps.
Now, I do find it bothersome when people actually demand that diverse characters must have a happy ending, just because they are diverse. People get hurt, they get sick, they break up, and they die one way or the other. You will not always get a fairy tale. Life doesn't work that way.
I could write about this on and on, but I'm sure you already got the point and understood the message. What I want now is to know what you think about this. Write in that sexy empty box down below!

Soy el primero en levantar una mano cuando las personas me preguntan si apoyo la diversidad sexual y de género. Ha habido tanta confusión sobre este tema porque algunos parecen pensar que los libros, historias, personajes e ideas diversas en general son solo un capricho, algo que un segmento del público exige, no pide. Y esto está tan mal que no puedo permanecer en silencio.
Para ser franco y brutalmente honesto, imaginen historias con solo personajes blancos, o solo personas negras, solo asiáticos, solo árabes, con mucha gente afirmando que esa es la forma de escribir, que no debemos ni tenemos que incluir ninguna otra raza. Apuesto a que suena bastante estúpido para ustedes. Lo mismo sucede con el género y la sexualidad, con un pequeño giro argumental.

"¡Los niños se confundirán si ven a dos hombres besándose!" Por favor, ¿en serio? Si ese fuera el caso, nunca habría habido un gay o una lesbiana en primer lugar, porque siempre veían hombres besando mujeres. Eso no cambió quiénes eran o qué les gustaba, y así como los niños gays y lesbianas no cambiaron, así será el caso de los heterosexuales.
Solo para darles un ejemplo más gráfico, volvamos a los libros de una sola raza. ¿Suena estúpido creer que los blancos se volverán negros o asiáticos o árabes si leen sobre personajes que sí lo son? Si lo es para ustedes, aléjense de este blog y vayan a ver a un psicólogo.
La idea de incluir diversos personajes es ayudar a los niños a entender que no hay nada de malo en eso. Piensen en aquellos niños y niñas que se sienten fuera de lugar cuando ven solo películas, libros, series de televisión y más contenido creativo que solo muestran personajes heterosexuales cisgénero: creen que les pasa algo, que están enfermos o que son menos que las personas heterosexuales. Una vez más, sentirán lo mismo si vivieran en un mundo en el que solo una raza aparece retratada en los medios.
No estoy diciendo que siempre debemos incluir contenido diverso en lo que hacemos. Una historia puede arruinarse si el contenido no tiene un propósito o está fuera de lugar, pero piensen en formas alternativas de hacerlo: tal vez un diálogo breve, un personaje secundario, un breve pensamiento del personaje principal sobre el tema . Todo ayuda.
Ahora, me resulta molesto cuando la gente realmente exige que los personajes diversos tengan un final feliz, simplemente porque son diversos. Las personas salen lastimadas, se enferman, se rompen y mueren de una u otra forma. No siempre obtendrás un cuento de hadas. La vida no funciona de esa manera.
Podría escribir sobre esto una y otra vez, pero estoy seguro de que ya entendieron el punto y recibieron el mensaje. Lo que quiero ahora es saber qué piensan sobre esto. ¡Escriban en esa sexy caja vacía abajo!

Since I'm a dark fantasy nerd and a very visual person when it comes to books, I decided to share some of the covers in the genre that I'm in love with. However, I want to let you know in advance that I haven't read all of these books and that I'm following no particular order: this is just my inner fanboy speaking about gorgeous images. Shall we begin?

Don't you love that old look and the cover's central illustration? I do, and the green tone gives it a mystical and threatening look. I feel like I'm going to have a good dose of action when I read it. ^^
¿No les encantan ese aspecto antiguo y la ilustración central de la portada? A mí, y el tono verde le da un aspecto entre místico y amenazador. Siento que voy a tener una buena dosis de acción cuando lo lea. ^^

I started with this series and had to stop because I wasn't as experienced with English then. However, the cover is still of my favorites for the cold colors and the frame it has. It gives it an aristocrat look I love.
Comencé con esta saga y tuve que detenerme porque no tenía tanta experiencia con el inglés en ese momento. Sin embargo, la portada sigue siendo de mis favoritas para los colores fríos y el marco que tiene. Le da un aspecto aristócrata que amo.

Road Ghosts; E. Chris Garrison

I could stare to the trees and the eyes of this book for a long while. I'm not a fan of the earthly tones in the bottom half of the image, but to play with the environment and make it creepier in a more natural way was an awesome idea.
Podría mirar fijamente los árboles y los ojos de este libro por un largo tiempo. No soy fanático de los tonos terrenales en la mitad inferior de la imagen, pero jugar con el entorno y hacerlo más espeluznante de una manera más natural fue una idea increíble.

Princess Dracula; John Patrick Kennedy

Hands down. Fantasy, blood, drama, action, and a sexy main girl in the front. Don't even mention the colors and how good they look. The fact that it was a Venezuelan designer the one who did this cover makes it a great surprise!
Mis respecto. Fantasía, sangre, drama, acción y una protagonista sexy en el frente. Ni siquiera mencionen los colores y lo bien que se ven. ¡El hecho de que fue un diseñador venezolano el que hizo esta portada la hace una gran sorpresa!

La Hora Sexta; H. Kramer

How many times have you sen such a frightening gargoyle in a cover? Just once for me, and it's just as good as this novel! The contrast is one of the bests I've ever seen, and, again, I'm in love with the green Kramer used for the cover.
¿Cuántas veces han visto una gárgola tan amenazadora en una portada? Solo una vez para mí, ¡y es tan buena como esta novela! El contraste es uno de los mejores que he visto en mi vida, y, de nuevo, estoy enamorado del verde Kramer utilizó para la portada.

The Graveyard Book; Neil Gaiman

Never judge a book by its cover, but, being honest, I would have started sooner with this one if I had found this exact edition. Don't get me wrong, I loved the story, but the green, the ghosts, the tombs on the knife, the boy on the knife!

Nunca juzguen un libro por su portada, pero, siendo honesto, hubiera empezado antes con este si hubiera encontrado esta edición exacta. No me malinterpreten, me encantó la historia, ¡pero el verde, los fantasmas, las tumbas en el cuchillo, el niño en el cuchillo!
