Recovered: A retrospective on Xandria to celebrate their seventh album, THEATER OF DIMENSIONS

With orchestral sound, poetic lyrics and an epic-dark aesthetic, Xandria has certainly evolved through the years, and today's launch of their seventh album, THEATER OF DIMENSIONS, seems like as good a time as any to go over their work thus far.

Their first album with vocalist Lisa Middelhauve, KILL THE SUN, offers a simple, relaxed sound; a few elements from ambient, acoustic music. Very few tracks on this album offer the power metal style they will develop in the future, with long, raw poems serving as lyrics. Still, track 6, titled "Casablanca" is a standout and remains a fan favorite.
In RAVENHEART, Xandria develops a more dramatic, metal sound; slightly darker with indications of electronic and Oriental music influences. The album continues their calm melodies but with more active, aggressive lyrics. The track "Eversleeping" spawned the band's first EP: EVERSLEEPING, with two slightly different versions of the track, as well as a mix of ballads (like "Pure") and heavier songs like "Drown on me".

The band's third album, INDIA, presents a surprising, drastic change with deep, metaphoric, lyrics combined with power metal, gothic atmosphere and some touches of Oriental or Celtic music, depending on the track. SALOMÉ – THESEVENTH VEIL is their weakest album, with more direct lyrics and an oriental rock style marking this disc.

With vocalist Manuela Kraller joining Xandria for NEVERWORLD’S END, the band achieves their full potential as a power metal band, with a more elaborated sound and even deeper lyrics. Tracks like "When the Mirror Cracks" and "Euphoria" evoke a gothic aesthetic and a more dramatic singing style. Dianne van Giersbergen, the new and current vocalist, contributes her operatic voice to a more intense and faster style in SACRIFICIUM, which is the first album to include the songs' official instrumental versions, to the delight of their fans. "Little Red Relish", "Dreamkeeper" and "The Watcher" are the gems in this album's Crown.

Finally, Xandria’s second EP titled FIRE & ASHES offers a combination of dreamlike covers, original and old, with reworked tracks that explore different types of sound. Shining songs like "Now & Forever" or the "Sonata Arctica" cover create one of the more than interesting discs to their repertoire.

Xandria's latest album, THEATER OF DIMENSIONS came out today and if the two violent and orchestral advance tracks,  "We Are Murderers (We All)" and "Call of Destiny", are any indication, it's a good one. Pick it up at the band’s official store!

Con un sonido orquestal, letras poéticas y una estética épica-oscura, Xandria ciertamente ha evolucionado a través de los años, y el lanzamiento de hoy de su séptimo álbum, THEATER OF DIMENSIONS, parece un buen momento como cualquier otro como para repasar su trabajo hasta ahora.

Su primer álbum con la vocalista Lisa Middelhauve, KILL THE SUN, ofrece un sonido simple, relajado; unos pocos elementos de música ambiental y acústica. Muy pocas pistas de este álbum ofrecen el estilo de power metal que desarrollarían en el futuro, con largos y crudos poemas que sirven de letras. Aun así, la pista 6, titulada “Casablanca”, resalta y se mantiene como una favorita de los fans.

En RAVENHEART, Xandria desarrolla un sonido metal más dramático; ligeramente más oscuro con indicaciones de influencia electrónica y música oriental. El álbum continúa con las melodías calmadas pero con letras más activas y agresivas. La pista “Eversleeping” dio lugar al primer EP de la banda: EVERSLEEPING, con dos versiones ligeramente distintas del tema, así como una mezcla de baladas (como “Pure”) y canciones más pesadas como “Drown on me”.

Mis Brujas Disney Favoritas #6: Hechicera (La Bella y la Bestia)

¿Cómo les va, Nocturnos? Yo finalmente logré organizar mi tiempo, literalmente haciéndome un horario como si fuese de clases, ¡y ha servido de las mil maravillas! ¿Ya lo han probado ustedes?

Hoy les quiero hablar de una bruja que seguramente no recordarán: La hechicera, de La Bella y la Bestia. ¿Ah? ¿Cuál? Normalmente se la pasa por alto, pero si hacen memoria, recordarán que Bestia fue maldecido por una hechicera al ser arrogante y egoísta.

Aunque es un personaje que no aparece en la historia como tal, la hechicera es la razón de ser de toda la trama. Es gracias a esta misteriosa mujer que el príncipe se convierte en un monstruo, exteriorizando lo que hay detrás de su cara bonita.

La maldición que ella lanza sobe Bestia una de las más creativas, por no decir la mejor de todas, que he visto en mi vida. Es una lástima que no aparezca más que durante unos escasos segundos, ni siquiera cuando su maldición se rompe, aunque supongo que estará ocupada castigando otros príncipes.

How are you doing, Nighters? I finally managed to organize my time, literally making myself a schedule as if it were classes, and it has worked like a charm! Have you tried it yet?

Today I want to talk to you about a witch that you surely won't remember: The Sorceress, from Beauty and the Beast. Ah? Which? She's usually ignored, but if you go back, you'll remember that Beast was cursed by a sorceress for being arrogant and selfish.

Although she is a character that doesn't appear in the story as such, the sorceress is the raison d'être of the whole plot. It is thanks to this mysterious woman that the prince becomes a monster, externalizing what is behind his pretty face.

The curse she casts on Beast is one of the most creative, if not the best of all, I've seen in my life. It's a pity she only appears for a few seconds, not even when her curse is broken, although I suppose she will be busy punishing other princes.

Mis Brujas Disney Favoritas #7: Madame Mim (La Espada en la Piedra)

¡Buena semana, Nocturnos!

¿Alguna vez han conocido un personaje que no saben si odiar, amar o simplemente olvidar? Eso es justamente lo que me pasa con Madame Mim, de La Espada en la Piedra. Esta no tan dulce ancianita es la séptima de mis brujas Disney favoritas.

Mim es un personaje secundario en la historia de Arturo y Melin, apenas si tiene relevancia, pero su tiempo en escena es suficiente para mostrarnos lo poderosa que es. Vamos, el propio Merlín puso su vida en riesgo en una competencia basada en el mito de la diosa Cerridwen.

Demente, tramposa, sádica e ingeniosa, Madame Mim se gana el respeto del público, y es justamente eso lo que la hace estar en esta lista: su sadismo y cinismo. ¿De qué más sería capaz de hacer? Solo podemos imaginar, pero es claro que no queremos estar cerca de ella.

Have you ever known a character who doesn't know whether to hate, love or just forget? That is precisely what happens to me with Madame Mim, from The Sword in the Stone. This not so sweet old lady is the seventh of my favorite Disney witches.

Mim is a secondary character in the story of Arturo and Melin, barely relevant, but her time on screen is enough to show us how powerful she is. Come on, Merlin himself put his life at risk in a competition based on the myth of the goddess Cerridwen.

Madly, cheater, sadistic and witty, Madame Mim earns respect from the public, and that's precisely what makes her being on this list: her sadism and cynicism. What else would she be able to do? We can only imagine, but it's clear we don't want to be close to her.

Cuidado con tu próxima mascota, vigila que no sea color rosado.

Be careful with your next pet, watch it is not pink.

Nocturnos, buenos días, ¿cómo les va?

Me encanta cuando tengo tantas expectativas con respecto a un libro, lo leo, y pierdo la noción del tiempo hasta terminarlo. Seguro les ha pasado muchas veces. En mi caso, la vez más reciente fue cuando leí Rise of the Zelphire Book Two: The Prince of Blood, por Karim Friha. ¡Qué historia más buena!

Los personajes que conocimos en el primer tomo regresan en una historia cargada de revoluciones, traumas infantiles, poderes sobrenaturales y una dosis ligera de humor negro. La mejor parte es el villano, el Príncipe de Sangre al que alude el título, quien busca vengar la muerte de sus padres a cualquier costo, y quien idea un plan perfecto que nuestros héroes deben frustrar.

La historia se lee sola, te hace sumergirte en la trama, sentir una empatía increíble y trasladarte a los escenarios fantasiosos que Karim Friha crea en cada página. Es imposible no recordar a Miss Peregrine y sus Niños Peculiares o incluso a los Xmen al leer Rise of the Zelphire Book Two: The Prince of Blood, ¡y es por buenas razones!

El arte es más macabro en esta ocasión, con ecos de horror gótico que les encantarán a los amantes del género, sin importar la estética infantil. Las escenas de los recuerdos son particularmente atractivas, como homenajeando a las viejas películas de monstruos. Además, los poderes que ingenió el autor hacen juego con la atmósfera decadentista, al igual que la historia detrás de los acontecimientos en este tomo.

Karim Friha me sorprendió por decir lo menos con Rise of the Zelphire Book Two: The Prince of Blood, y está de más decir que espero ansioso la oportunidad para leer el tercer y último volumen de esta historia, aunque bien podría originar una saga mucho más amplia. Aún quedan preguntas por responder y personajes cuyos orígenes ignoro, así que tengo muchas esperanzas en el capítulo final.

Nighters, good morning, how are you doing?
I love it when I have so many expectations regarding a book, I read it, and I lose track of time until I finish it. Surely it has happened many times to you. In my case, the most recent time was when I read Rise of the Zelphire Book Two: The Prince of Blood, by Karim Friha. What a good story!
The characters we met in the first volume return in a story full of revolutions, childhood traumas, supernatural powers and a light dose of black humor. The best part is the villain, the Prince of Blood the title alludes to, who seeks to avenge the death of his parents at any cost, and who devises a perfect plan that our heroes must thwart.
The story reads itself, makes you dive into the plot, feel incredible empathy and move to the fantastic scenarios that Karim Friha creates on each page. It's impossible not to remember Miss Peregrine and her Peculiar Children or even the Xmen when reading Rise of the Zelphire Book Two: The Prince of Blood, and it is for good reasons!
The art is more macabre on this occasion, with echoes of gothic horror that lovers of the genre will adore, regardless of children's aesthetics. The flashbacks are particularly attractive, as if paying homage to the old monster movies. In addition, the powers that the author engineered match the decadentist atmosphere, as does the story behind the events in this volume.
Karim Friha surprised me by saying the least with Rise of the Zelphire Book Two: The Prince of Blood, and it goes without saying that I look forward to the opportunity to read the third and last volume of this story, although it could well originate a much longer saga. There are still unanswered questions and characters whose origins I ignore, so I have high hopes in the final chapter.

Mis Brujas Disney Favoritas #8: Reina Narissa (Encantada)

Buena semana, Nocturnos. ¿Qué tal les va?

Hoy les hablo sobre mi bruja Disney favorita número ocho, una madre de amor poco confiable: La Reina Narissa, de Encantada, una villana temible tanto en caricatura como en acción real, y no es para menos.

La Reina Narissa rompe con el esquema de la madrastra malvada: ella es la madre del príncipe, y toda la película se origina luego de que enviara a la princesa Giselle al mundo real, lejos de la magia de los cuentos de hadas. Capaz de comunicarse entre los mundos y lanzar hechizos, incluso se transforma en un dragón para  conservar su trono. La Reina Narissa es digna de temer.

Lamentablemente, dejó todo el trabajo a un secuaz inútil, torpe y poco confiable, esperando al último momento para entrar en escena y actuar por sí misma. ¿Qué clase de reina desquiciada hace eso? Solamente ella.

Today I'm talking about my favorite Disney witch number eight, a mother of unreliable love: Queen Narissa, of Enchanted, a fearsome villain in both cartoon and real action, and it is not for nothing.

Queen Narissa breaks with the scheme of the evil stepmother: she is the prince's mother, and the whole movie originates after she sent Princess Giselle to the real world, away from the magic of fairy tales. Able to communicate between worlds and cast spells, she even transforms into a dragon to keep her throne. Queen Narissa is worth fearing.

Unfortunately, she left all the work to a useless, clumsy and unreliable henchman, waiting for the last moment to enter the scene and act for herself. What kind of deranged queen does that? Only she.

Mis Brujas Disney Favoritas #9: Morgana (La Sirenita 2: Regreso al Mar)

¡Nocturnos, buen día! ¿Cómo va la semana?

Continuando con la cuenta de mis brujas Disney favoritas, tenemos a una villana que algunos a lo mejor no conocen: Morgana, de La Sirenita 2: Regreso al Mar, la hermana menor de Úrsula, que aparecerá más adelante en esta lista.

Morgana tiene poderes similares a los de su hermana: es capaz de hacer pociones, contratos irrompibles, tiene un tiburón gigante como ayudante, y manipula a una niña inocente lo suficiente como para que robe el tridente de su abuelo.

Esta bruja es despreciable sin lugar a dudas. Su capacidad de manipulación y niveles de egoísmo la hacen imposible de olvidar. Lástima que descuidó a Melody y dejó que una simple niña mortal le arrebatara el poder que por tanto tiempo buscó.

Nighters, good day! How is the week going?

Continuing with my Top 10 favorite Disney witches, we have a villain that some may not know: Morgana, from The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea, Ursula's younger sister, who will appear later on this list.

Morgana has similar powers to her sister's: she is capable of making potions, unbreakable contracts, and has a giant shark as an assistant, and manipulates an innocent girl enough so she steals her grandfather's trident.

This witch is despicable without a doubt. Her ability to manipulate and levels of selfishness make her impossible to forget. Too bad she neglected Melody and let a simple mortal girl take away the power he sought for so long.

Mejor ser hijo único antes que tener a Morgana de hermana.

Better to be an only child than to have Morgana as a sister.

Mis Brujas Disney Favoritas #10: Yzma

¡Buena semana, Nocturnos!

Este martes estuve pensando sobre las películas de mi infancia, casi todas de Disney, y me di cuenta de que hay muchísimas brujas que admiro, algunas que incluso en su momento me causaban terror. Estuve dándole vueltas a la idea, haciendo comparaciones y organizando mis ideas al respecto desde entonces. ¡Les presento mis brujas Disney favoritas!

Comenzamos con una señora usualmente menospreciada: Yzma, de Las Locuras del Emperador, la consejera real sedienta de poder. Yzma tiene un amplio repertorio de pociones diseñadas para asesinar a cualquiera sin dejar rastro, y otras tantas capaces de convertir a su víctima en cualquier animal.

Yzma no se detiene ante nada, pero sabe actuar desde las sombras para conseguir lo que quiere, sin mencionar su cinismo. Sin embargo, carece de poderes mágicos suficientes como para ser una adversaria de temer, además de ser pésima a la hora de escoger secuaces. A pesar de esto, la consejera real de Kuzco es lo suficiente creativa como para ser peligrosa.
Como personaje, tenía muchísimo más potencial del que se exploró en la película original, y terminó siendo un chiste tanto en la secuela como en la serie de televisión. Yzma bien pudo haberse convertido en una villana emblemática, pero su concepto y desarrollo como personaje la hacen inolvidable sin importar qué.
¿Qué piensan ustedes sobre Yzma? ¿Creen que es una villana competente o solo una anciana histérica?

This Tuesday I was thinking about my childhood-s films, almost all from Disney, and I realized that there are many witches that I admire, some that even caused me terror at the time. I've been thinking about the idea, making comparisons and organizing my ideas since then. I present you my favorite Disney witches!
We start with an usually belittled lady: Yzma, from The Emperor's New Groove, the powerthirsty royal councilor. Yzma has a wide repertoire of potions designed to kill anyone without a trace, and many others capable of turning her victim into any animal.
Yzma doesn't stop at anything, but knows how to act from the shadows to get what she wants, not to mention her cynicism. However, she lacks sufficient magical powers to be an adversary to fear, in addition to being appalling when choosing minions. Despite this, Kuzco's royal councilor is creative enough to be dangerous.
As a character, she had a lot more potential than was explored in the original film, and ended up being a joke in both the sequel and the television series. Yzma may well have become an emblematic villain, but her concept and development as a character make her unforgettable no matter what.
What do you guys think about Yzma? Do you think she's a competent villain or just a hysterical old woman?

¡Buena semana, Nocturnos! ¿Cómo van esos planes, esas ideas y lecturas pendientes?

Hace un par de días leí una novela increíble, una historia juvenil de fantasía oscura con aires de horror. Se trata de Small Spaces, de Katherine Arden, el primer libro de la saga homónima. Cumplió con mis expectativas, ¡y hasta las sobrepasó!

La historia nos presenta a Olivia Ollie, una niña de 12 años que lidia con la muerte de su madre leyendo tantos libros como pueda, más que antes. Pregunto, ¿cuántos de nosotros no hemos hecho lo mismo? Su vida es sencilla, hasta que ve a una mujer a punto de arrojar un libro al agua. Sin pensarlo mucho, Ollie se lo arrebata y empieza a leerlo.

Este libro, Small Spaces, le cuenta sobre dos hermanos que hicieron un pacto con el Hombre Sonriente, un ente sobrenatural tramposo y despiadado, luego del cual nunca se volvió a saber de ellos o su madre. Aunque todo parece una historia de miedo al principio, Ollie se da cuenta de que el Hombre Sonriente podría ser más real de lo que ella, o cualquiera de sus compañeros, cree.

Katherine Arden creó un universo fantástico tétrico, por decir lo menos. Espantapájaros que cobran vida, cambia-formas sobrenaturales, fantasmas y contacto con el más allá son solo algunos de los elementos que le dan un encanto gótico a esta novela.

Small Spaces inicia con poco atractivo, pero conforme avanza la historia te vuelves adicto a ella, a sus giros de trama, sus escenas surreales, y lo más importante, sus personajes tan enternecedores. Es fácil sumergirse en la novela y verse cara a cara con la aventura de sus protagonistas, sintiendo una empatía increíble. Los amantes del Tim Burton para niños se enamorarán de esta novela, eso es seguro.

Estoy ansioso por leer el segundo libro de esta saga y ver cómo continúa la historia. Katherine Arden tiene un estilo fresco y atrapante que se ve pocas veces. ¿Ya ustedes leyeron Small Spaces? ¿Qué les pareció? ¡Yo estoy encantado sin lugar a dudas!

Good week, Nighters! How are those plans, those ideas and pending readings going?
A couple of days ago I read an amazing novel, a YA dark fantasy story with touches of horror. It is Small Spaces, by Katherine Arden, the first book in the homonymous series. It met my expectations, and even exceeded them!
The story introduces us to Olivia Ollie, a 12-year-old girl who deals with her mother's death reading as many books as she can, more than before. I ask, how many of us have not done the same? Her life is simple, until she sees a woman about to throw a book into the water. Without much thought, Ollie snatches it and starts reading it.
This book, Small Spaces, tells her about two brothers who made a pact with the Smiling Man, a cheating and ruthless supernatural entity, after which they and their mother were never heard of again. Although everything seems like a scary story at first, Ollie realizes that the Smiling Man could be more real than she, or any of her classmates, believes.
Katherine Arden created a fantastic gloomy universe, to say the least. Scarecrows that come to life, supernatural shape-shifters, ghosts and contact with the beyond are just some of the elements that give this novel a Gothic charm.
Small Spaces starts with little appeal, but as the story progresses you become addicted to it, its plot twists, its surreal scenes, and most importantly, its very touching characters. It's easy to dive into the novel and find yourself face to face with the adventure of its protagonists, feeling an incredible empathy. Lover of Tim Burton for children will fall in love with this novel, that's for sure.
I'm eager to read the second book of this seies and see how the story continues. Katherine Arden has a cool and engaging style that is rarely seen. Have you read Small Spaces already? What did you think? I'm delighted without a doubt!

La portada original de Fuego en las Manos

¡Buen día!

Hoy cierro la recapitulación de portadas olvidadas con un tesoro, una imagen que incluso olvidé que existía: La portada original de Fuego enlas Manos, mi primera novela en Amazon. El cambio de estética es radical.

Tomé esa foto pensando en que podría darle un significado literal, pero el resultado no me convencía; esos no eran los colores que quería usar, así que decidí pedirle ayuda a mi primo Draxen.

Le expliqué lo que tenía en mente, cómo me imaginaba la portada, qué significaba Fuego en las Manos para mí, y me presentó esto. Al principio me costó aceptarla por lo inusual que era, ¡pero cuando la vi mejor me encantó!

¿Y qué significa la rosa azul? La rosa es amor y pureza, pero Rojo es pasión, amor y los instintos básicos, y el Violeta es misticismo, transmutación, realeza y protección. Ambos colores me gustan, pero no reflejan lo que significa Fuego en las Manos. El azul, por otro lado, es un color mágico, de poder, energía, tiene ese aire sobrenatural. Perfecto.

Esta novela tiene muchos recuerdos entremezclados por ser la primera que publiqué, y aunque tiene sus detalles no por ello dejo de tenerle un cariño especial.

Today I close the recapitulation of forgotten covers with a treasure, an image that I even forgot existed: The original cover of Fuego en las Manos, my first Amazon novel. The change of aesthetics is radical.
I took that photo thinking that I could give it a literal meaning, but the result didn't convince me; Those were not the colors I wanted to use, so I decided to ask my cousin Draxen for help.
I explained what I had in mind, how I imagined the cover, what Fuego en las Manos meant to me, and he presented this to me. At first it was hard for me to accept it for how unusual it was, but when I saw it better I loved it!
And what does the blue rose mean? The rose is love and purity, but Red is passion, love and basic instincts, and Violet is mysticism, transmutation, royalty and protection. I like both colors, but they don't reflect what Fuego en las Manos means. Blue, on the other hand, is a magical color, of power, energy, has that supernatural air. Perfect.
This novel has many memories interspersed for being the first one I published, and although it has its details, I still have a special affection for it.

¡Buenas buenas!

Hace un par de días desempolvé mis archivos y encontré la portada original de Silencio, y hoy quiero compartir una que seguramente alguno que otro lector si pudo llegar a ver. Estoy seguro incluso de que está sepultada en mi Instagram, en un rincón. Es la portada original de Reflejos.

Contrario a Just…, Reflejos es una novela que no tenía planeada, que ni siquiera sabía que llegaría a escribir, pero cuando vi que esa portada estaba disponible en un grupo, diseñada ni más ni menos por NATALIA HATT (háganse un favor y LEAN SUS LIBROS), todo el concepto apareció en mi cabeza: Una princesa dormida, su alma atrapada en un mundo oscuro, la escena en donde inicia la historia…

A couple of days ago I dusted my files and found Silence's original cover, and today I want to share one that surely some other reader could see. I am sure even that it is buried in my Instagram, in a corner. It's the original cover of Reflections.
Contrary to Just..., Reflections is a novel that I didn't have planned, that I didn't even know I would write, but when I saw that cover was available in a group, designed neither more nor less by NATALIA HATT (do yourself a favor and READ HER BOOKS), the whole concept appeared in my head: A sleeping princess, her soul trapped in a dark world, the scene where the story begins ...

Inmediatamente la pedí y empecé a escribir lo primeros capítulos, y aunque la historia quedó archivada por muchísimo tiempo, Alynne Briar-Rose pedía a gritos que la recuperara y así lo hice. Sin embargo, conforme avanzaba, la trama se tornaba sanguinaria, oscura, y la portada, aunque elegante, dejó de representar la esencia de los personajes, aunque ese aire de fantasía está allí sin dudas.

Tomé una imagen surrealista que representaba lo que quería, aunque aún le faltaba algo, pero se asemejaba más a lo que estaba explorando. La bailarina en el umbral me recordaba mucho a mi Bella Durmiente, y cómo Reflejos es una metáfora de la depresión crónica (léela entre líneas y te darás cuenta).

I immediately asked for it and began to write the first chapters, and although the story was archived for a very long time, Alynne Briar-Rose shouted for me to recover it and so I did so. However, as it progressed, the plot became bloodthirsty, dark, and the cover, although elegant, ceased to represent the essence of the characters, although that fantasy air is there without a doubt.
I took a surreal image that represented what I wanted, although something was still missing, but it was more like what I was exploring. The dancer in the doorway reminded me a lot of my Sleeping Beauty, and how Reflections is a metaphor for chronic depression (read it between the lines and you'll notice).

Finalmente, Johana Calderón devoró la historia semana tras semana mientras la publicaba en español, y me dio la portada que conservo hasta ahora. ¡Un cambio total! Tiene la elegancia de la primera, lo surreal de la segunda, la oscuridad que amerita y una rosa blanca que me encanta, un elemento importante en Reflejos.

Finally, Johana Calderón devoured the story week after week while publishing it in Spanish, and gave me the cover that I have kept until now. A total change! It has the elegance of the first, the surreal of the second, the darkness that deserves and a white rose that I love, an important element in Reflections.

La portada original de Silencio

¡Buen día, Nocturno! Una nueva semana empieza, y la abro con una curiosidad: La portada inicial de Silencio (Los Raros de Newrocks #2).

Érase una vez un Alan muy joven que poco sabía de inglés, pero que deseaba practicar de todas formas. Ese Alan tenía una hora de silencio (jeje) en su trabajo como bibliotecario en donde estudiaba inglés, y decidió intentar escribir varias novelas directamente en ese idioma.

De esas tardes nacieron Reflejos, mi recuento de fantasía oscura de La Bella Durmiente, una de mis historias favoritas, Sello de los Gatos, el primer libro de Los Raros de Newrocks, y una novela que empecé a escribir pero que nunca terminé, titulada “Just…”

Good morning, Nighter! A new week begins, and I open it with a curiosity: The initial cover of Silence (The Rare of Newrocks # 2).
Once upon a time there was a very young Alan who knew little about English, but wanted to practice anyway. That Alan had an hour of silence (hehe) in his job as a librarian where he studied English, and decided to try to write several novels directly in that language.
From those afternoons, Reflections was born, my dark fantasy account of Sleeping Beauty, one of my favorite stories, Cats' Seal, the first book of Weirdos of Newrocks, and a novel I began to write but never finished, entitled "Just..."
Let us admire my sublime Photoshop disaster; believe me, it's unforgettable.

La historia de Just… nunca llegó a buen puerto, era simplemente un ejercicio al igual que las otras dos novelas, con la diferencia de que esas sí terminaron. Pero pasaba el tiempo, pasaron los años y no dejaba de pensar en ese muchacho de cabello verde con una mirada rara, entre nostálgica y triste, y decidí rescatarlo.

Así nació Tristan Rivers, el protagonista de Silencio, el segundo libro de Los Raros de Newrocks. ¿Quieres comparar ambas historias bajo tu propio? Te puedes deleitar con la primera versión en inglés deficiente en Wattpad. El cambio es abismal.

Just… se suponía que sería el primer libro de una trilogía de romance dramático juvenil. Sexo, drogas, mentiras, infidelidades… no sabía dónde entraba cada cosa pero quería usarlas en algún momento, y como cosa extraña viniendo de mí, “diseñé” las portadas del segundo y tercer libro. The tory of Just... never came to fruition, it was simply an exercise just like the other two novels, with the difference that those did end. But time passed, the years passed and I kept thinking about that green-haired boy with a weird look, between nostalgic and sad, and I decided to rescue him.
Thus was born Tristan Rivers, the protagonist of Silence, the second book of Weirdos of Newrocks. Do you want to compare both stories under your own risk? You can delight in the first, English deficient version in Wattpad. The change is abysmal.
Just ... it was supposed to be the first book in a trilogy of dramatic youth romance. Sex, drugs, lies, infidelities ... I didn't know where everything came in but I wanted to use them at some point, and as a strange thing coming from me, I "designed" the covers of the second and third books. Here too

¿Por qué saco este desastre a la luz? Porque encontré los archivos hace algunos días, y me pareció curioso notar cómo han cambiado las historias, especialmente las portadas, aunque no descarto cambiar también las que estoy usando en Wattpad para las novelas originales en inglés.

Estaré compartiendo estas curiosidades durante algunos días porque de verdad que me traen mucha nostalgia, y espero que lo disfrutes o que al menos te hagan sonreír. (También se vale burlarse).

Why do I bring this disaster to light? Because I found the files a few days ago, and I found it curious to notice how the stories have changed, especially the covers, although I don't rule out also changing the ones I'm using in Wattpad for the original English novels.
I will be sharing these curiosities for a few days because they really bring me a lot of nostalgia, and I hope you enjoy it or at least make you smile. (Teasing is okay).
