What happened this Friday? / ¿Qué pasó este viernes?

Hey guys, how's it going?
I normally say that I'm short of time for all the responsibilities I have, but this time the situation surpassed me in ways I can not control, not for myself, but for my little dog.

Since a couple of months until now, he has come with a health problem that we haven't been able to treat, he needs a surgery but the medicines to raise his defenses are not in the country. This past week has gotten a lot worse and has been too delicate.
It will sound stupid to some, but he's like my son and looking at him with irritated skin and a black ear is enough to lower my spirits to do anything, to the point that I am barely writing this. I don't feel good to write, to record, and I am fulfilling the magazines and work by obligation, just to get out of my mind whatever it has to do with emotions.
Someone will wonder why I share this with the world (or whoever reads it), and I decided long ago, as you have noticed, to touch a little my day to day, what happens to me from time to time, among others things.
I still have hope for things to improve, but I want you to be aware, know what happens to me, why I have not updated, why sometimes I'm late with certain entries, updates and so on. And you can be sure that when he gets better, I'll introduce you to the furry, because all the images I used in this post are taken from the internet.

Hola muchachos, ¿qué tal les va?
Normalmente digo que estoy falto de tiempo por todas las responsabilidades que tengo encima, pero esta vez la situación me sobrepasó de maneras que no puedo controlar, no por mí, sino por mi perrito.

Desde hace ya un par de meses viene con un problema de salud que no hemos podido tratarle, necesita una operación pero los medicamentos para subirle las defensas no los hay en el país. Esta última semana empeoró bastante y ha estado demasiado delicado.
Sonará estúpido para algunos, pero es como mi hijo y verlo con la piel irritada y la oreja negra es suficiente para bajarme los ánimos de hacer cualquier cosa, al punto de que a duras penas estoy escribiendo esto. No me siento bien para escribir, para grabar, y estoy cumpliendo con las revistas y el trabajo por obligación, solo para sacarme de la mente lo que sea que tenga que ver con emociones.
Alguno se preguntará por qué compartir esto con el mundo (o el que lo lea), y decidí hace tiempo, como se habrán dado cuenta, a tocar un poco mi día a día, lo que me me pasa de vez en cuando, entre otras cosas.
Tengo todavía esperanza para que las cosas mejoren, pero quiero que estén al tanto y sepan qué pasa conmigo, por qué no he actualizado, por qué a veces llego tarde con ciertas entradas, actualizaciones y demás. Y pueden estar seguros de que cuando mejore, les presentaré al peludo, porque todas las imágenes que usé en esta entrada son sacadas de internet.

Hay otro libro que quiero compartir con ustedes, un recuento que me encantó, me hizo encontrar mi niño interior de nuevo y que hará lo mismo con ustedes si les gusta la fantasía, la aventura y el romance. ¡Incluso la cubierta es perfecta!

La historia es ligera, interesante y con el glorioso,

Recibí este libro hace algún tiempo, pero debido a mi querida, dulce computadora, el archivo se perdió en las profundidades de lo desconocido con muchos otros. No fue hasta hace poco que pude recuperar algunos de ellos, incluyendo "Mad About the Hatter", de Dakota Chase, una de las mejores cosas que me han ocurrido en estos días.
La historia es bastante simple: el hermano de Alice, Henry, es enviado al País de las Maravillas y buscar al Sombrerero Loco, y pronto, ambos son cazados por los Guardias Rojos de la Reina Roja. Lo que no esperan es empezar a gustar uno del otro, mucho más que como solo amigos.
Antes de que alguien diga nada, no hay sexo. "Mad About the Hatter" es una historia dulce enfocada en la aventura, la peligrosa y curiosa fantasía que llena el País de las Maravillas y la relación de todos los personajes entre ellos, destacando la que hay entre Henry y Hatter, por supuesto.
La historia es ligera, interesante y con el glorioso, extraño encanto del País de las Maravillas, el tipo de mundo que le da al autor una oportunidad completa para ser lo más creativo y loco posible. Chase la tomó maravillosamente, resultando ser muy imaginativa, llena de ideas divertidas y coloridas, diferentes conceptos que, además de entretener, también enseñan algo valioso a los lectores.

Estoy más inclinado a pensar que todos
podemos imaginar el final real de esta historia.

Cada página tiene una aventura por sí misma, con tantos eventos que a veces te atrapa en una prisa por saber qué pasa a continuación, mordiendo uñas y labios debido a los nervios, y otras veces sonriendo como un idiota frente a la pantalla de tu teléfono. Henry y Sombrerero son personajes muy humanos, divertidos y encantadores que me gustaría volver a ver.
A pesar de que es una pena que esta es una historia autoconclusiva y me encantaría una secuela, parte de su magia es esa escena final abierta, el momento perfecto de cuento de hadas cuando todo está perfectamente en paz. Algunos pueden argumentar que no dice nada sobre el futuro, pero estoy más inclinado a pensar que todos podemos imaginar el final real de esta historia.
Tengo problemas con la escena final con la Reina y con el hecho de que Sombrerero fue nombrado justo eso, Sombrerero, sin nombre real para él. Esos fueron los dos únicos defectos que pude ver, pero como el resto del libro es tan bueno, casi puedo olvidarme del segundo; del primero... no tanto.
Por cierto, había tantos diferentes ambientes que me hicieron enamorarse de este mundo de nuevo que creo que incluso leería el libro de nuevo un par de veces. Hay muchos peligros también, pero con Sombrerero como guía, sé que terminaría en una sola pieza, al igual que Henry.

I received this book sometime ago, but because of my dear, sweet computer, the file got lost in the depths of the unknown with many others. It wasn’t until recently that I could recover some of them, including “Mad About the Hatter,” by Dakota Chase, one of the best things that have happened to me these days.

The story is pretty simple: Alice’s brother, Henry, is sent to Wonderland and look for the Mad Hatter, and soon, both of them are hunted by the Red Queen’s Red Guards. What they do not expect is to start liking each other, way much more than just friends.

Before anyone says anything, there’s no sex. “Mad About the Hatter” is a sweet story focused on adventure, the dangerous and curious fantasy that fills Wonderland and the relation of all the characters with each other, highlighting the one between Henry and Hatter, of course.

The story is light, interesting, and with Wonderland's glorious, strange enchant, the kind of world that gives the author a full chance to be as creative and crazy as possible. Chase took it greatly, proving to be very imaginative, filled with funny and colorfull ideas, different concepts that, besides entertaining, also teach something valuable to the readers.

I’m more inclined to think that we all
can imagine the real end of this story.

Every page has an adventure on its own, with so many events that sometimes you gt caught in a rush to know what happens next, bitting nails and lips because of the nerves, and other times smiling as an idiot in front of your phone's screen. Henry and Hatter are very human, funny and lovely characters I’d like to see again.

Despite it is a shame that this is a stand-alone story and I would love a sequel, part of its magic is that open ending scene, the perfect fairy tale moment when everything’s perfectly in peace. Some may argue that it doesn’t tell anything about the future, but I’m more inclined to think that we all can imagine the real end of this story.

I have problems with the final scene with the Queen and with the fact that Hatter was named just that, Hatter, with no real name for him. Those were the only two flaws I could see, but since the rest of the book is so good, I can almost forget about the second one; the first… not so much.

By the way, there were so many different environments that made me fall in love with this world that I think I’d even read the book again a couple of times. There are many dangerous as well, but with Hatter as a guide, I know I’d end up pretty much in one piece, just as Henry did.

Musical Friday / Viernes Musicales: Sehnsucht (Lacrimosa)

Wazzup people, ready for the weekend?

For today, I wanted to give the space to an album I love and that, moreover, is from one of my favorite bands: Sehnsucht, by Lacrimosa. Reason, motive? Today, just today, their latest album is released: Testimonium!
Sehnsucht was released in 2009, and its title, a German word, comes to mean the desire for something unattainable, similar to nostalgia, but more geared towards finding something for the future.
This album combines melancholic rhythms, a classic style typical of European orchestras and its very characteristic Gothic metal. It is quite relaxed, I just have it in the background as I write this (as I do with these types of tickets) and I find it much easier to let everything out. Meaning? Words flow by themselves.
I like practically the whole record, but songs that I can not stop listening like "Feuer", "Due Taube" and "Koma". Although I have no idea what the lyrics mean, they cause me many feelings and leave me thinking about many things. I still do not understand why.

Kion da gente, ¿listos para el fin de semana?
Para hoy, quería cederle el espacio a un disco que me encanta y que, además, es de mis bandas favoritas: Sehnsucht, de Lacrimosa. ¿Razón, motivo? Hoy, justamente hoy, sale al mercado su más reciente álbum: ¡Testimonium!
Sehnsucht fue lanzado en 2009, y su título, una palabra propia del alemán, viene a significar el deseo de algo inalcanzable, similar a la nostalgia, pero más orientado hacia la búsqueda de algo para el futuro.
Este disco combina ritmos melancólicos, un estilo clásico propio de las orquestas europeas y su metal gótico muy característico. Es bastante relajado, justo lo tengo de fondo mientras escribo esto (como hago con este tipo de entradas) y me resulta mucho más sencillo dejar todo salir. ¿Significado? Las palabras fluyen solas.
Me gusta prácticamente todo el disco, pero canciones que no puedo dejar de escuchar como "Feuer", "Due Taube" y "Koma". Aunque no tengo ni idea de qué significan las letras, me provocan muchos sentimientos y me dejan pensando en muchas cosas. Aún no entiendo por qué.

No, no everywhere / No, no en todos lados

Hi, guys, how have you been?
Lately I've been thinking a lot about the publishers' answers, and it really amazes me how many times and so often, after sending them an email about your manuscript, the most heard answer is a syllable I'm starting to hate: No.
We all know that publishers are companies, they are a business that needs to be sure they can have the livelihood of tomorrow and that whatever they publish must have a minimum of sales worthy of an investment. Publishing a book is not easy, we know that.
However, I still have that bad taste in my mouth. I thought, after a long time without sending to publishers, that maybe I was in a bad time to publish, that they were all crowded, that it would not be possible for some economic phenomenon, you never know, but after sending to a long list of emails, I see that the thing remains the same.

What is even more exasperating, you remain waiting for an answer, so be that bad blessed "no" that we all fear, but the mail never arrives. I understand that it's million times simpler to write a letter requesting to be published compared to the entire evaluation process, but at least have a standard text, such as the one I just received to give the bad news. It makes the blow a little softer I think.
It discourages, all this discourages and makes you want to publish nothing, because you spend the months in silence, looking at the calendar every week, waiting for the month where you should receive a response, until you see another month passes, and another... and you understand they simply erased you from the inbox.
The solution? Swallow thick, take a lot of air, close your eyes and say "they miss it" until you believe it yourself. I'm pretty far from being the perfect writer, everyone who reads me tells me of this mistake or that letter that I left, which I always appreciate to try to do it better next time, so just wait, keep sending and keep writing.

Hola muchachos, ¿qué tal han estado?

Últimamente he estado pensando mucho en algo con respecto a las respuestas de las editoriales, y es que me sorprende de verdad cómo tantas veces y tan seguido, luego de enviarles un correo sobre tu manuscrito, la respuesta más escuchada sea una sílaba que estoy empezando a odiar: No.

Todos sabemos que las editoriales son compañías, son empresas que necesitan estar seguras de que podrán tener el sustento de mañana y que lo que sea que publiquen debe tener un mínimo de ventas merecedor de una inversión. Publicar un libro no es cosa fácil, eso lo sabemos.

Sin embargo, no dejo de tener ese mal sabor en la boca. Pensé, luego de mucho tiempo sin enviar a editoriales, que a lo mejor estaba en una mala época para publicar, que todas estaban abarrotadas, que no sería posible por algún fenómeno económico, uno nunca sabe, pero luego de enviar a una larga lista de correos, veo que la cosa sigue igual.

Desanima, todo esto desanima bastante.

Lo que es más exasperante aún, te quedas esperando una respuesta, así sea ese mal bendecido “no” que todos tememos, pero el correo nunca llega. Entiendo que es millones de veces más sencillo escribir una carta solicitando que te publiquen comparado con todo el proceso de valoración, pero al menos tener un texto estándar, como el que recibí recién, para dar las malas noticias. Hace el golpe un poco más suave pienso yo.

Desanima, todo esto desanima bastante y hace que se te quiten las ganas de publicar, porque pasas los meses en silencio, mirando el calendario todas las semanas, esperando a que sea el mes en donde deberías recibir respuesta, hasta que ves que pasa otro mes, y otro… y entiendes que simplemente te borraron de la bandeja de entrada.

¿La solución? Tragar grueso, tomar mucho aire, cerrar los ojos y decirte “ellos se lo pierden” hasta que tú mismo te lo creas. Estoy bastante lejos de ser el escritor perfecto, todo el que me lee me dice de este error o de aquella letra que se me fue, cosa que agradezco siempre para intentar hacerlo mejor la próxima vez, así que solo queda esperar, seguir enviando y seguir escribiendo.

Thinking / Pensando: Ghostwriting?

Hello people! Happy Monday! Yes, I know, I hate them too...

The first ghostwritten book in the series.
El primer libro fantasma de la saga.

To make it a little more bearable, let's talk a little about books and share opinions, even if it is about a practice that seems to me demeaning for both parties involved: ghostwriting. For some time now I've been listening this little word and, after knowing what it means, I cannot hide the disdain for those who are looking for a "ghostwriter."
It's about writing a whole book, maybe an entire saga, for an author, who will take all the credit, in exchange of a sum of money, something like literary prostitution, only a few steps down.
A perfect example, the first one that comes to mind when I think about the subject, is the saga The Vampire Diaries. After L. J. Smith, the original writer, was fired from her own series (yes, I also made that face,) the publishers hired a ghostwriter to continue to profit. The brashness at its best.
Of course the thing didn't end there, since Smith lost another saga, The Secret Circle, which also became in charge of a ghostwriter, Aubrey Clark, the same one that continues with TVD. I understand that an editorial wants to get the juice out of sagas as successful as these, but I think there is a limit...

Who will watch it with me?
¿Quién se anota a verla conmigo?

I don't have to say it, but if I ever start with any of these sagas, I will not read Clark's. For me, TVD dies with The Return: Midnight and resurrects with Evensong, the saga that follows directly, written by Smith as a FanFiction. For me, Clark can f*ck himself, like the other ghostwriters.

Interesting fact: The award-winning film The Ghost Writer, by Roman Polanski, touches on the subject and relates it directly to the political environment of the United States. Who will watch it with me?

Hacerlo un tanto más llevadero, vamos a hablar un poco sobre libros y compartir opiniones, aunque sea sobre una práctica que me parece denigrante para ambas partes involucradas: el ghostwriting. Desde hace un tiempo para acá he estado escuchando esta palabrita y, luego de saber a qué se refiere, no puedo ocultar el desdén hacia quienes buscan un “escritor fantasma”.
Se trata de escribir todo un libro, puede que hasta una saga entera, para un autor, el cual se llevará todo el crédito, a cambio de una suma de dinero, algo así como prostitución literaria, solo que unos escalones más abajo.

Un ejemplo perfecto, el primero que se me viene a la cabeza cuando pienso en el tema, es el de la saga The Vampire Diaries. Luego de que L. J. Smith, la escritora original fuera despedida de su propia serie (sí, yo también puse esa cara), la editorial contrató a un escritor fantasma para seguir sacándole provecho. El descaro en su máxima expresión.

Claro que la cosa no quedó allí, ya que Smith perdió otra saga, The Secret Circle, la cual también quedó a cargo de un escritor fantasma, Aubrey Clark, el mismo que continúa con TVD. Entiendo que una editorial quiera sacarle el jugo a sagas tan exitosas como estas, pero creo que hay un límite…

No hace falta que lo diga, pero si algún día inicio con alguna de estas sagas, no pienso leer las de Clark. Para mí, TVD mure con The Return: Midnight y resucita con Evensong, la saga que sigue directamente, escrita por Smith a modo de FanFiction. Por mí, Clark puede irse a la basura, al igual que los demás escritores fantasmas.

Dato curioso: La galardonada película The Ghost Writer, de Roman Polanski, toca el tema y lo relaciona directamente con el ambiente político de Estados Unidos. ¿Quién se anota a verla conmigo?

Musical Friday / Viernes Musicales: Joanne (Lady Gaga)

Heeeello over there!

Despite I cannot go (endless suffering scream in here,) I'm excited for the Joanne World Tour, which started this August 1st, so, to celebrate, a big surprise: Joanne, by Lady "Queen" Gaga!
I've lost count of how many times I've played this album in computer, phone, sang the lyrics, mumbled and more. I certainly prefer Artpop, but tell me just how not to love a work of art from perfection made flesh? Impossible not to!
I hold no shame admiting that I'm addicted to "John Wayne," "Diamon Hard," "Dancing in Circles" and (couldn't miss it!) "PERFECT ILLUSION;" I literally hit replay more than 20 times the night it was released, ask my friends and family if you don't believe me!
Stop reading already and listen to another masterpiece of Mother Monster! May the paws will always be up for her!

He perdido la cuenta de cuántas veces he reproducido este álbum en la computadora, el teléfono, cantado las letras, balbuceado y más. Ciertamente prefiero Artpop, ¿pero díganme cómo no amar una obra de arte de la perfección hecha carne? ¡Imposible no hacerlo!
No tengo ninguna vergüenza en admitir que soy adicto a "John Wayne", "Diamon Hard", "Dancing in Circles" y (¡no te lo pierdas!) "PERFECT ILLUSION"; literalmente la repetí más de 20 veces la noche que fue lanzada, ¡pregunten a mis amigos y familiares si no me creen!
¡Dejen ya de leer y escuchen otra obra maestra de la Madre Monstruo! ¡Que las garras siempre estén arriba por ella!

Thinking / Pensando: Cliffhangers?

Hello guys, how are you?

I’ve spoken a couple of times about cliffhangers, but hadn’t had the chance to tell exactly what are they about. With more free time and less readings on my back, I prefer to do it now before things get upside down once again (you never know.)

Cliffhanger comes to mean just the same for books as what the word suggests: an ending that leaves many open doors, abrupt, sudden, where the characters are left in the middle of a decisive scene or action for the plot.

The difference between open ends, like in Nina Blazon's Faunblut, is that, despite the story is definitely closed, there could be some loose threads, something valid for every kind of book, while cliffhangers need a sequel, it’s a must, and work better for sagas or book series.

The best examples I have about this type of finale are the ones used by Andrea Cremer in her Nightshade series. The books finish suddenly, in a rush, without explaining many things about the ending and need a next book, there’s no “but” that counts.

It doesn’t bother me while reading, I can enjoy them, the fact that I love Cremer’s book is proof of that, but to write and use a cliffhanger… I don’t know if I could do it, I prefer to do a somwhat open final, but you never know what will happen in the future.

He hablado ya en un par de ocasiones acerca de los cliffhangers, pero no había tenido la ocasión de especificar realmente de qué se tratan. Con más tiempo libre y menos lecturas encima, prefiero hacerlo ahora antes de que las cosas se pongan patas arriba de nuevo (uno nunca sabe).

En inglés, cliffhanger viene siendo un adjetivo que supone quedar colgando al borde de un acantilado, y en cuanto a literatura, se refiere a un final abrupto, donde los personajes quedan en medio de una escena o acción decisiva para la trama.

La diferencia entre los finales abiertos, como el de Embrujo, de Nina Blazon, es que, aunque se cierra la historia de manera definitiva, pueden quedar algunos hilos sueltos, cosa que es válida para todo tipo de libros, mientras que los cliffhangers necesitan una continuación obligatoriamente y son preferibles para las sagas.

Los mejores ejemplos que tengo sobre este tipo de finales son los que usa Andrea Cremer en su saga Nightshade. Los libros acaban de manera abrupta, apresurada, sin explicar muchas cosas con respecto al final y necesitan sí o sí una continuación.

No me molestan a la hora de leer, puedo disfrutarlos, que ame tanto los libros de Cremer es prueba de ello, pero escribir y usar un cliffhanger… no sé si podría hacerlo, prefiero dejar un final medianamente abierto, aunque nunca sabes qué pasará en el futuro.

Reseña: Rez Runaway, de Melanie Florence

Hola chicos, ¿qué tal empieza la semana?

Como saben, soy adicto a la fantasía y lo paranormal, pero de vez en cuando me gusta salir de mi zona cómoda. La sinopsis de Rez Runaway, de Melanie Florence, me atrajo bastante, así que decidí hacer la excepción. A pesar de sus pequeñas fallas, fue una lectura de la que quiero hablarles y que sé les va a gustar mucho. ;)

Hay una razón por la cual prefiero no leer ficción realista con tanta frecuencia, y eso es porque empiezo a sentir mucho. No es justo que un libro tan corto te dé tantos sentimientos. Leer Rez Runaway fue lo mismo que estar en una montaña rusa emocional, y el mayor defecto de la autora Melanie Florence es que simplemente no escribió suficientes páginas para esta historia.
Aunque se presenta como una novela sobre la adolescencia, Rez Runaway se centra más en los problemas sociales que enfrenta la comunidad joven LGBT+, incluyendo el contexto nativo de manera natural y orgánica, y se centra en aquellos que se quedan solos y deben elegir un infierno de vida por encima de una muerte antes de tiempo. Es cruda, cruel, pero hermosa y dulce también, tratando de encontrar el equilibrio entre el horror crudo y la felicidad minimalista.
La mejor parte es que tardé sólo una noche en sufrir, sonreír, temer y soñar con Joe, Sid y John, aunque es agridulce dejar este trío increíble, aún más con tal cliffhanger para el final, aunque el mensaje es completamente claro para el lector. ¿Ven lo confuso que te dejará Florence? Con una colección no tan bonita de pensamientos estilo "ser o no ser".
En caso de que no sea obvio, este es un libro que prácticamente se lee solo tan pronto como terminen los dos primeros capítulos. El primero realmente no llama la atención, pero hace su trabajo haciéndote pasar al siguiente, comenzando un efecto dominó, un ciclo del que solo puedes librarte al alcanzar al final de la historia, que parece llegar demasiado temprano después de tantas cosas que los personajes tienen que pasar.

Los únicos problemas que encuentro en él son que, en primer lugar, hay escenas al principio con una falta de emoción debido al corto espacio que tienen, a su no tan desarrollados antecedentes, y, en segundo lugar, la falta de importancia para el tema de personas dos espíritus. Todo parece ocurrir más rápido de lo que debería para crear un impacto adecuado en el lector o hacer una impresión real, lo que es una vergüenza teniendo en cuenta la forma en que las cosas terminarán.
También tengo problemas con la escena final y su ambigüedad, la forma en que no especifica muchos puntos en la vida de Joe y lo que puede suceder a continuación, pero es sólo algo sobre el gusto personal, ya que sé perfectamente que los que prefieren un final abierto lo amarán totalmente. Esto es simplemente una advertencia para los lectores puristas más tradicionales, como yo: no espere una clausura explícita cuando llegue a la última página.
La única y última cosa que tengo que decir es que realmente aprecio que la editorial enviara esta ARC, junto con un agradecimiento enorme. Definitivamente voy a leer algo más de Melanie Florence si tengo la oportunidad, y estaré esperando algo mejor esta vez. La realidad apesta, pero en las manos de este autor, enseña más de lo que parece hacer en nuestras vidas.

Review: Rez Runaway, by Melanie Florence

As you know, I'm addicted to fantasy and paranormal, but every now and then I like to get out of my comfort zone. The synopsis of Rez Runaway, by Melanie Florence, attracted me a lot, so I decided to make the exception. Despite its small flaws, it was a reading that I want to talk to you about and I know you'll like it very much. ;)

There’s one reason for which I prefer not to read realistic fiction so often, and that’s because I start to feel a lot. It is just not fair that such a short book gives you so many feelings. Reading Rez Runaway was the same as being in an emotional roller coaster, and the bigest flaw of author Melanie Florence is that she wrote just not enough pages for this story.

Although presented as a coming-of-age novella, Rez Runaway is more about the social issues faced by the young LGBT+ community, including the native context in a natural, organic way, and focusing on those who are left on their own and that have to chose a hell of a life over a death before time. It’s raw, cruel, but beautiful and sweet as well, trying to find the balance between crude horror and minimalistic bliss.

The best part is that it took just a night to suffer, smile, fear and dream with Joe, Sid and John, althought it’s bittersweet to leave this amazing trio, even more with such a cliffhanfer for an ending, although the message is completely clear to the reader. See how confused will Florence leave you? With a not so pretty collection of "to be or not to be" kind of thoughts.
In case it isn’t obvious, this is a book that practically reads itself as soon as you finish the first two chapters. The first one doesn’t really catch the attention, but does its job by making you go to the next one, starting a domino effect, a cycle you can only break from by reaching the end of the story, which seems to arrive way too early after so many things the characters have to go through.

The only problems I find in it were that, first, there are scenes at the beggining with a lack of emotion due to the short space they have, their not-so-developed background, and, second, the lack of importance for the topic of the two-spirited people. Everything seems to happen faster that it should in order to create a proper impact in the reader or make a real impression, which is a shame considering the way things will finish like.

I also have issues with the final scene and its ambiguity, the way it doesn’t specify many spots in Joe’s life and what may happen next, but it's just something about personal taste, as I perfectly know those who prefer open ending will utterly love it. This is simply a warning for more traditional, purist readers like me: do not expect an explicit clousure when you reach the last page.

The only and last thing I have left to say is that I really appreciate that the publisher sent this ARC, along with a huge thanks. I’m definitely reading something else from Melanie Florence if I have the chance, and will be waiting for something better this time. Reality sucks, but in the hands of this author, it teaches more than it seems to do in our lives.

Last week I discovered this amazing band, Exit Eden, and guess what? They are four gorgeous women with amazing voices making covers of famous songs, couldn't be better! Their debut album, Rhapsodies in Black, was released in August 4th with songs like Madonna's Frozen, Rihanna's Unfaithful, and (love it, you must love it) Lady Gaga's Paparazzi!
