Comics: Grimm Fairy Tales Vol. 1 + 2

¡Hola muchachos! ¿Cómo va esta semana?

Despite my life isn’t calm right now and have lot of stress, I’ve been reading a comic series I find quite interesting and would like to share it with you guys. It uses one of the topics I’ve been pretty interested in for a while, which are fairy tale retellings, but that’s obvious by just reading the name: Grimm Fairy Tales.

A pesar de mi vida no es tranquila ahora y tienen mucho estrés, he estado leyendo la serie cómica que me parece bastante interesante y me gustaría compartirlo con ustedes. Cuentos de hadas de Grimm: La historia de cuentos de hadas de Grimm. Cuentos de hadas de Grimm. Cuentos de hadas de Grimm. Grimm Fairy Tales.

I already gave it a chance and finished the first two volumes, or only the issues, as I don’t have access to the editions, to be honest. The first one is focused on nice and romantic stories, while the second one is darker, wilder and more graphic. Both of them use high doses of eroticism and violence, but with actual and solid story lines that make their way so we end up liking them.

Ya le di una oportunidad y terminé los dos primeros volúmenes, o solo los números, dado que no tengo acceso a las ediciones, para ser honesto. El primero se centra en historias agradables y románticas, mientras que el segundo es más oscuro, más salvaje y más gráfico. Ambos utilizan altas dosis de erotismo y violencia, pero con líneas reales y sólidas que hacen su camino, así que terminan gustándonos.

What bothers me a little is the style. Because of the time, beginnings of this century, 2005 if I remember correctly, Grimm Fairy Tales presents a simple, yet disappointing, style during the very first chapters. It improves a lot in the second volume, but with such a weak start it’s hard to see its (very well) hidden potential.

Lo que me molesta un poco es el estilo. Debido al tiempo, comienzos de este siglo, 2005 si recuerdo bien, Grimm Fairy Tales presenta un estilo simple, pero decepcionante, durante los primeros capítulos. Mejora mucho en el segundo volumen, pero con un inicio tan débil es difícil ver su potencial (muy bien) oculto.

I’m still waiting for the art to improve, as it has been a pretty slow process, but I’m okay with what I’ve seen so far. Not the style I was waiting for at all, but it's acceptably close to something decent, so you can expect me to talk about the next ones next week (if the Force is with me.)

Todavía estoy esperando que el arte mejore, ya que ha sido un proceso bastante lento, pero estoy bien con lo que he visto hasta ahora. No es el estilo que estaba esperando en absoluto, pero es aceptablemente cerca de algo decente, por lo que puede esperar que yo hable de los próximos la próxima semana (si la Fuerza está conmigo).
