Comics: Deadman: Dark Mansion of Forbiddem Love

Hello over there you guys! How are you? Any world domination plan? No? Oh well…

I realized that I hadn’t spoke about a graphic novel I recently read and that I liked a lot, so wanted to share my opinion with you today. It is Deadman: Dark Mansion of Forbidden Love, from DC Comics (remember I said I will be more a DC fan?)

This story honors its name, as it focuses on love, romance, darkness and magic, but also on death, life and morality. There are some topics you may recognize as part of classic stories, and not in vain I say that this looks like the comic version of an old penny dreadful, with a strong Victorian style.

However, to have classiness and elegance doesn’t mean that this is a comic with prejudice and cliché topics, because you may be surprised with some LGBT content, not sexual, but surprising and pleasant. It’s great to see more diversity in the comic industry and how creators are not afraid of breaking the mold!

What I didn’t like was that Deadman: Dark Mansion of Forbidden Love was shorter than I expected. Just three issues that form a complete graphic novel, but I still think there was more to tell, more to discover, and I know it may be imprudent to say it, but I wouldn’t mind to read a sequel… or two… Just saying.

It gave me a great reading time, and I know many of you will like to give it a chance. It’s engaging, attractive and comes with great artwork (to love it is mandatory.) If you’re into diverse stories, Gothic enchantment and mystery, then this is the perfect comic for you!

Me di cuenta de que no había hablado de una novela gráfica que leí recientemente y que me gustó mucho, así que quería compartir mi opinión con ustedes hoy. Es Deadman: Dark Mansion de Forbidden Love, de DC Comics (¿recuerdan que dije que seré más un fan de DC?)

Esta historia honra su nombre, ya que se centra en el amor, el romance, la oscuridad y la magia, pero también en la muerte, la vida y la moralidad. Hay algunos temas que pueden reconocer como parte de las historias clásicas, y no en vano digo que esto parece la versión cómic de un viejo penny dreadful, con un fuerte  estilo victoriano.

Sin embargo, tener clase y elegancia no significa que esto es un cómic con los temas prejuiciosos y cliché, porque podrían ser sorprendidos con cierto contenido LGBT, no sexual, sino asombroso y agradable. ¡Es genial ver más diversidad en la industria del cómic y cómo los creadores no tienen miedo de romper el molde!

Lo que no me gustó fue que Deadman: Dark Mansion de Forbidden Love fue más corto de lo que esperaba. Sólo tres números que forman una completa novela gráfica, pero sigo pensando que hay más que contar, más que descubrir, y sé que puede ser imprudente decirlo, pero no me importaría leer una secuela... o dos... Sólo digo.

Me dio un gran tiempo de lectura, y sé que a muchos de ustedes les gustaría darle una oportunidad. Es atractivo, atractivo y viene con un gran arte (amarlo es obligatorio). Si les interesan historias diversas, con encanto gótico y misterio, ¡entonces este es el cómic perfecto para ustedes!
