Musical Friday / Viernes Musicales: Opheliac (Emilie Autumn)

Hello over there you guys! I already shared Emilie Autumn with you, but it was a compilation kind of entry, which I like to think about as a legal vacuum, so, here she is again!

Opheliac is the most famous work of Emilie, the one I most connect with for many reasons, and just wanted to share it with you. It’s a masterpiece I won’t get tired from in any near future (or far, for what matters.)

The concept of the album is about being an “Opheliac,” a self-destructive person that is happy with anything as long as it is not garbage, ore ven garbage if that’s what life gives us. Not to happiest work, as you may note, but it is also about freedom of self-expression, that there’s nothing wrong in making it public, in acknowledging these negative feelings.

Among my favorites are the title track, Opheliac, Swallow, Misery Loves Company, Let the Record Show and Shalott. I have serious problems with Liar and The Art of Suicide, but since this girl is completely honest in them, I can still listen to those tracks now and then (although I prefer not to do it often.)

Opheliac es el trabajo más famoso de Emilie, con el que me conecto más por muchas razones, y sólo quería compartirlo con ustedes. Es una obra maestra de la que no me cansaré en un futuro cercano (o lejano, en realidad).
El concepto del álbum se trata de ser un "opheliac", ofeliaco en español, una persona autodestructiva que está contenta con cualquier cosa, siempre y cuando no sea basura, o incluso basura, si es eso lo que la vida nos da. No el trabajo más feliz, como pueden notar, pero también se trata de la libertad de expresión, sobre que no hay nada malo en hacerlo pública, reconocer estos sentimientos negativos.
Entre mis favoritos están la canción titular, Opheliac, Swallow, Misery Loves Company, Let the Record Show y Shalott. Tengo serios problemas con Liar y The Art of Suicide, pero como esta chica es completamente honesta en ellos, todavía puedo escuchar esos temas de vez en cuando (aunque prefiero no hacerlo a menudo).

Thinking: Readers' Problems / Pensando: Problemas de Lectores

Hello guys! Almost another week done! Any plan for the weekend?
I realized that I was writing many entries in this section where “authors’ stuff,” so I decided to share with you some problems I face as a reader; maybe we have something in common? Can you add another one? Leave it in the comments either way!

1. The wait: I know many hate to have to wait for something to be published after we read the past book/s (yes, Stephenie Meyer, it’s with you and The Host’s sequels and Midnight Sun.)
2. Good cover, lame content: This should be ilegal, to use a great covers and designs for poorly written books, I mean, it must be something like misleading advertising, mustn’t it?
3. Never-ending series: How long, big and complicated can a story be? When it’s more than 10 books long, the reason for it must be big as well.
4. Ghostwriting: This one is tricky, and I promise to write an entry on the topic, but I cannot trust an author that either supports or offers ghostwritting. Not even a publishing company.
5. Hardcore Cliffhangers: Another I’ll explain later, but let’s say that if they’re not so obvious, like the movies’ post-credits scenes, I have no problem, but something bigger? Neverending hate!

Me di cuenta de que estaba escribiendo muchas entradas en esta sección sobre "cosas de autores", así que decidí compartir con ustedes algunos problemas que tengo como lector; ¿tal vez tenemos algo en común? ¿Pueden agregar otro? ¡Déjenlo en los comentarios de cualquier manera!

1. La espera: Sé que muchos odian tener que esperar a que algo sea publicado después de leer el libro anterior (sí, Stephenie Meyer, es contigo y las secuelas de La Huesped y Sol de Medianoche).
2. Buena portada, contenido flojo: Esto debería ser ilegal, usar una gran portada y diseños para libros mal escritos, quiero decir, debe ser algo así como publicidad engañosa, ¿no?
3. Serie interminable: ¿Qué tan largo, grande y complicada puede ser una historia? Cuando es más de 10 libros de largo, la razón para ello debe ser igual.
4. Ghostwriting: Este es complicado, y prometo escribir una entrada en el tema, pero no puedo confiar en un autor que apoya o ofrece ghostwritting. Tampoco en una una editorial.
5. Cliffhangers duros: Otro para explicar más adelante, pero digamos que si no son tan obvios, como las escenas de post-créditos de las películas, no tengo ningún problema, ¿pero algo más grande? ¡Odio interminable!

Comics: Grimm Fairy Tales Vol. 5 + 6

Hey guys! How are you? Is everything right in there?

As I said, I had the chance to finish some readings, comics included! I admit I’m becoming a high fan of Grimm Fairy Tales, the original series that gave the fame and glory to Zenescope Entertainment, and let’s say that you should read it as well.

Vol. 5

The fifth and sixth volumen in this story become wilder, gory and way much more adult-intended; both because of nudity, which is barely censored, and lots, lots of blod and violence we get. Why? Since Sela Mathers is out of the game, Belinda, her whole opposite, is completely out of control, but things may be about to change.

Between the issues, my favorite one was Pinocchio, which used photographs instead of drawings, and with a very elaborate aesthetic. Each of the panels had a much work into it and carefulness in the overall concept, which just made me admire this series much more.

Despite this carnage, we readers can still see some lessons in each of the stories, which become darker and heavier in each issue, with new, different concepts and many crazy ideas we wish we had thought about before they got published (my case, if not obvious.)

I loved, really loved, the plot twist and explanation on where Sela and her powers come from, and the preview of what’s about to take place in this universe. I already know what will be of her because I spoilered myself, but, first, I’m not telling you and, second, I’m really eager to see what is it that makes it all end like that.

If you’re into dark fantasy, violence, erotic graphic novels and innovative stories, which would mean you have a good reading taste, I strongly recomend you to start reading this series or any of its spin-offs (and make sure to leave some comments down there, I have no one to talk with about GFT!)

Como he dicho, tuve la oportunidad de terminar algunas lecturas, ¡cómics incluidos! Admito que me estoy convirtiendo en un gran fan de Grimm Fairy Tales, la serie original que le dio la fama y la gloria a Zenescope Entertainment, y digamos que ustedes deben leerla también.

Vol. 6

El quinto y sexto volumen de esta historia se vuelven más salvajes, sangrientos y mucho más adultos; tanto por la desnudez, que apenas se censura, y la gran cantidad de sangre y de violencia que conseguimos. ¿Por qué? Desde que Sela Mathers está fuera del juego, Belinda, su opuesto absoluto, se encuentra totalmente fuera de control, pero las cosas podrían estar por cambiar.

Entre los números, mi favorito era Pinocchio, que usaba fotografías en lugar de dibujos, y con una estética muy elaborada. Cada uno de los paneles tenía un gran trabajo en él y un concepto general muy cuidado, que sólo me hizo admirar esta serie mucho más.

A pesar de esta carnicería, los lectores todavía podemos ver algunas lecciones en cada una de las historias, que se vuelven más oscuras y pesadas en cada número, con conceptos nuevos, diferentes y muchas ideas locas que desearíamos haber pensado antes de publicarse (mi caso, si no es obvio).

Me encantó, me encantó muchisimo, el giro de la trama y la explicación de donde Sela y sus poderes vienen, y la vista previa de lo que está a punto de tener lugar en este universo. Ya sé lo que será de ella, porque me hice spoiler, pero, primero, no se los pienso decir y, en segundo lugar, estoy muy ansioso por ver qué es lo que hace que todo termine así.

Si les interesan la fantasía oscura, la violencia, las novelas gráficas eróticas y las historias innovadoras, lo que significaría que tienen un buen gusto de la lectura, les recomiendo encarecidamente que comiencen a leer esta serie o cualquiera de sus spin-offs (y asegúrense de dejar algunos comentarios allí abajo, ¡no tengo a nadie con quien hablar sobre GFT!)

Surprise in Wattpad! / ¡Sorpresa en Wattpad!

Hello from the other side! How have you been?

Because of World Book Day, you may have noted that I posted a lot of messages in my social media since this Sunday, and in case you didn’t, here’s the official announcement: There's a preview of my next novel on Wattpad!

Many readers asked me to hurry with it, the sequel to La Hija de Bóreas, especially Rush, who might be about to use the Avada Kedavra on me, and decided that if there was a date to give a little gift, it was that one.

The title is a secret by now, but you can call it LHA. You’ll see some characters from the previous novel and yes, Erick will be in there as well, but I won’t say how much and what will happen by now, you’ll have to wait for the book to come out. I have some plans for that guy, that’s all you’ll get to know today. ^^

In the mean time, you can read another of my books, Reflections, which is in Wattpad also, and that is updated on Mondays and Fridays. By now, I’ll get back to write before someone gets mad and kills me (yes, I’m talking about Rush,) so excuse me…

Debido al Día Mundial del Libro, es posible que hayan notado que publiqué muchos mensajes en mis redes sociales desde este domingo, y en caso de que no lo hicieran, he aquí el anuncio oficial: ¡Hay un adelanto de mi próxima novela en Wattpad!

Muchos lectores me pidieron que me diera prisa con ella, la secuela de La Hija de Bóreas, especialmente Rush, que puede estar a punto de usar el Avada Kedavra en mí, y decidí que si había una fecha para dar un pequeño regalo, era esta.

El título es un secreto por ahora, pero la pueden llamar LHA. Verán algunos personajes de la novela anterior y sí, Erick estará allí también, pero no voy a decir qué tanto y qué pasará ahora, tendrán que esperar a que salga el libro. Tengo algunos planes para ese chico, eso es todo lo que sabrán hoy. ^^

Mientras tanto, pueden leer otro de mis libros, Reflections, que está en Wattpad también, y que se actualiza los lunes y viernes. Por ahora, voy a volver a escribir antes de que alguien se enoje y me mate (sí, estoy hablando de Rush), así si me disculpan...

Review / Reseña: Wytch & Prinze (Kassandra Lea)

Hello guys! How is it going? I've had a long-awaited and deserved rest this weekned, and had the chance to finish some readings I was excited about. Today, I'll speak about one of them: Wytch & Prinze, by Kassandra Lea.

I’ve seen many bad opinions in this story, and I cannot really understand why. Yes, it is sure, yes, it could have been better, but I won’t accept that someone tells me that they didn’t enjoy reading it!

First, the characters are very natural, they feel like human beings, and not the all-perfect creatures many authors are obsessively creating for their books; with some exaggerated emotions for the sake of humor, and many pretty dialogues, I learned to love how nice and cute they are.
Also, I fell in love with Amelie, which is far from being our grandmas’ fairy-godmother. She’s insane, in a good way, and always tries to help Jacob, although I would have insulted this guy for being such a chicken in many scenes.

I confess that I’m not really into sugar and sweet readings, and despite I was liking the book, there's a high dose of drama near to the end that I was thankful to discover. I have nothing against sweet stories where love’s the main topic, but some problem is always great, it adds flavor; just my personal taste.

However, since nothing is as perfect as we want it to be, I must say that I expected more paranormal content, a little insight on Amelie’s life, on how Jacob discovered his powers, how Renwick realized they were real...

The topic is not fully used or explored, and that created a hole in my image of the book, because, being honest, the cover seemed to promise right that: lots of magic, lots of ghost-material. Hope the author takes this into consideration for next books (maybe a sequel?)

Also, thanks so much to the publisher for sharing this copy. I tried to be as honest as I could, and hopefully this helps both the readers and the author.

¡Hola muchachos! ¿Cómo están? He tenido un descanso muy esperado y merecido esta semana, y tuve la oportunidad de terminar algunas lecturas que me tenían emocionado. Hoy hablaré de una de ellas: Wytch & Prinze, de Kassandra Lea.

He visto muchas malas opiniones de esta historia, y realmente no puedo entender por qué. Sí, es seguro, sí, podría haber sido mejor, ¡pero no voy a aceptar que alguien me diga que no le gustó leerlo!

En primer lugar, los personajes son muy naturales, se sienten como seres humanos y no las criaturas perfectas que muchos autores crean obsesivamente para sus libros; con algunas emociones exageradas por el humor, y con muchos diálogos bonitos, aprendí a amar lo bonitos y lindos que son.
Además, me enamoré de Amelie, que está lejos de ser la hada madrina de nuestras abuelas. Ella está loca, en un buen sentido, y siempre trata de ayudar a Jacob, aunque yo habría insultado a este tipo por ser un idiota en muchas escenas.

Confieso que no estoy realmente interesado en lecturas dulces y azucaradas, y a pesar de que me gustaba el libro, hay una alta dosis de drama cerca del final que estuve agradecido de descubrir. No tengo nada en contra de las historias dulces donde el amor es el tema principal, pero algún problema siempre es bueno, añade sabor; sólo mi gusto personal.

Sin embargo, ya que nada es tan perfecto como queremos que sea, debo decir que esperaba más contenido paranormal, un poco de penetración en la vida de Amelie, sobre cómo Jacob descubrió sus poderes, cómo Renwick se dio cuenta de que eran reales...

El tema no se usa ni se explora completamente, y eso creó un hueco en mi imagen del libro, porque, siendo honesto, la portada parecía prometer justo eso: mucha magia, mucho material fantasma. Espero que la autora tome esto en consideración para los próximos libros (¿tal vez una secuela?).

También, muchas gracias la editorial por compartir esta copia. Traté de ser lo más honesto que pude, y espero que esto ayude a los lectores y a la autora.

Musical Friday / Viernes Musicales: La Parade Monstrueuse (In Strict Confidence)

Hey there, people! It’s Friday!

Do you remember when I talked to you about Exile Paradise, from Strict Confidence? Well, I recently started listening to another disc from these guys, newer and with a more solid electronic sound, I’m talking about La Parade Monstrueuse.

This time, ISC offers a more dance-able style, still dark and sexy as Exile Paradise, but with more developed electronic style and not so many down-tempo tracks. Sure, there are some violent and heavier songs that remind that past album, but in general themes I consider this to be more consistent.

I can list Silver Bullets, Snow White and I Surrender as my favorites in this album, although I also enjoy This is All, Schwarzes Licht (the translator says it is “Black Light”) and Set Me Free. I’m still finding new details in all of its songs, so don’t be surprised if I tweet about the album. ^^

¿Recuerdan cuando les hablé de Exile Paradise, de Strict Confidence? Pues recientemente empecé a escuchar otro disco de estos chicos, más nuevo y con un sonido electrónico más sólido, estoy hablando de La Parade Monstrueuse.

Esta vez, ISC ofrece un estilo más bailable, aún oscuro y sexy como en Exile Paradise, pero con un estilo electrónico más desarrollado y no tantas pistas down-tempo. Claro, hay algunas canciones violentas y más pesadas que recuerdan a ese álbum anterior, pero en temas generales considero que este es más consistente.
Puedo listar Silver Bullets, Snow White y I Surrender como mis favoritas en este álbum, aunque también disfruto de This is More, Schwarzes Licht (el traductor dice que es "Luz Negra") y Set Me Free. Todavía estoy encontrando nuevos detalles en todas sus canciones, así que no se sorprendan si twiteo sobre el álbum. ^^

Hello guys! How have you been?

I decided to take a day off from the blog in order to put something on the right place, and it is that my books are no longer only available on Amazon! It was something I kept thinking since a couple of weeks ago, and said: ‘Why not?’

I’ve been thinking if it could be a good idea, as I won’t be able to do certain things because of the kindle exclusivity, but decided to think about that later. Amazon was just the beggining, and yes, I may consider it for some books, but right now it’s obvious that I cannot remain in a single site.

From today on, with a very few exceptions, you’ll find my books on sites like iTunes, Barnes & Noble, Scribd, and many more! There are a few of them that are only in certain webs, like “Muchas Cosas” or my Wattpad stories, but almost all of my children are now everywhere!

And yes, Mitología is the group. I made sure to set it correctly so it could be on preorder, just like in Amazon, and the rest of the sites should appear in the list as soon as the book is approved. I have no control on this, so please, wait a little while the process is done.

Decidí tomar un día libre del blog para poner algo en el lugar correcto, ¡y es que mis libros ya no están disponibles solo en Amazon! Era algo que no dejaba de pensar desde hace un par de semanas, y me dije: "¿Por qué no?"

He estado pensando si podría ser una buena idea, ya que no seré capaz de hacer ciertas cosas debido a la exclusividad de kindle, pero decidí pensar en eso más tarde. Amazon fue sólo el principio, y sí, puedo considerarlo para algunos libros, pero ahora mismo es obvio que no puedo permanecer en un solo sitio.

A partir de hoy, con muy pocas excepciones, encontrarán mis libros en sitios como iTunes, Barnes & Noble, Scribd, ¡y muchos más! Hay algunos de ellos que están sólo en ciertas webs, como "Muchas Cosas" o mis historias de Wattpad, ¡pero casi todos mis hijos están en todas partes!

Y sí, Mitología está el grupo. Me cercioré de fijarlo correctamente así que podría estar en preventa, justo como en Amazon, y el resto de los sitios debe aparecer en la lista tan pronto como el libro sea aprobado. No tengo ningún control sobre esto, así que, por favor, esperen un poco mientras el proceso termina.
