Buenos días, gente. ¿Cómo les va? Estos días he estado leyendo una novela que me sorprendió pero que también me dejó esperando más. La idea me gustó en sí, pero podría haber tenido un mejor resultado. Estoy hablando de The Way To Dawn, por Charles Lee, el primero en su saga The Way To Dawn. ¡Gracias a Booktasters por hacerme saber de esta novela!

Comenzando por el lado positivo, la idea me recordó mucho a las series anime y los mangas, lo cual siempre es bueno para mí. La fantasía es un elemento que se combina con facilidad con las constantes peleas y personajes interesantes que me hicieron pasar un buen rato, y debo decir que muchos de los poderes eran bastante creativos.

Aunque la idea de guerrero jóvenes que luchan contra el fin del mundo no es novedosa, el mundo es bastante interesante y diverso, con muchas locaciones y aspectos curiosos que llaman la atención. Siendo el primero de la saga, no hay mucho espacio para explorar, puesto que los personajes se llevan la mayor parte del espacio, más aún considerando que el elenco es bastante extenso y algunos tienen más de un nombre, pero aún así te das cuenta de que estás en un mundo con infinitas posibilidades y con preguntas sin responder.

Ahora, en el lado negativo, tengo que decir que el libro debería ser reeditado. Hay escenas que solo ocupan espacio, descripciones que no aportan, incluso algunos diálogos que me parecieron poco naturales. Aunque el autor apostó por narrar todo en tiempo presente, lo cual me pareció innovador y curioso en el buen sentido, tanto el estilo de escritura como el desarrollo podrían haber quedado mejor.

Me parece que The Way To Dawn es una buena historia con potencial para mejor, pero me costó seguir precisamente por esas fallas. Si eres capaz de hacer la vista gorda muchas veces para encontrar los aciertos en medio de lo que me pareció que podría ser un primer borrador, disfrutas de la fantasía con acción y el estilo juvenil, vas a disfrutar con esta historia de Charles Lee.

Good morning people. How are you doing? These days I have been reading a novel that surprised me but also left me wanting more. I liked the idea itself, but it could have had a better result. Their hometown is torn to shreds by demonic creatures being led by a mysterious man with unrestrained hate for anything human. Once separated through the use of his dark magic, the two of them are forced to come to terms with their untapped gifts and the meaning of loss...

Starting on the positive side, the idea reminded me of a lot of anime series and manga, which is always good for me. Fantasy is an element that is easily combined with the constant fights and interesting characters that gave me a good time, and I have to say that many of the powers were quite creative.

Although the idea of ​​young warriors fighting against the end of the world is not new, the world is quite interesting and diverse, with many locations and curious aspects that attract attention. Being the first of the saga, there is not much space to explore, since the characters take most of the space, even more so considering that the cast is quite extensive and some have more than one name, but you still realize that that you're in a world with infinite possibilities and unanswered questions.

Now, on the negative side, I have to say that the book should be reedited. There are scenes that only take up space, descriptions that do not contribute, even some dialogues that seemed unnatural to me. Although the author opted to narrate everything in the present tense, which I found innovative and curious in a good way, both the writing style and the development could have been better.

It seems to me that The Way To Dawn is a good story with potential for the better, but I had a hard time following precisely because of those flaws. If you can turn a blind eye many times to find the right things in the middle of what I thought might be a first draft, enjoy action fantasy and youthful flair, you are going to enjoy this story by Charles Lee.

Sobre Sentirse Insignificante / On Feeling Insignificant

Buen día, Nocturnos. Espero que estén bien. Este fin de semana estuve leyendo y escribiendo bastante, volviendo a escribir Ledén luego de un bloqueo creativo con esa historia. Aunque me concentré en Cuentos de Hadas para no Dormir (¡gracias a los que pidieron sus copias para reseñar, por cierto!), seguía pensando en Ámbar y Zoé, las protagonistas de la novela.

Mientras escribía el sábado pasado, hubo una frase que me quedó rondando en la cabeza, quizás inspirada por Christina Aguilera:

Con una sonrisa satisfecha en el rostro, Zoé se dio la vuelta para volver con sus compañeras, quienes estaban mucho más atrás de lo que esperaba. ¿Las superioras querían una guerrera? Ella sola se volvería un ejército.

Zoé es un personaje del que estoy enamorado. Mucho. Es una chica que ha pasado por cosas duras, y aunque me recuerda mucho a Paz, de Perfecta Maldición, hay una diferencia abismal entre ambas: Paz estaba sola, totalmente, mientras que Zoé nunca lo estuvo, por más intensamente que sintiera lo contrario.

Esta novela está conectada a una historia que me encanta, y que tengo publicada en Wattpad, pero cuya identidad me reservo hasta que vea la luz, jejeje. Me ha recordado lo que es sentirse insignificante, temeroso del mundo, de todo y de todos los que te rodean, e incluso de ti mismo. Es una historia en donde los personajes buscan sanar en un mundo que busca eliminarlos porque ni los entiende ni desea hacerlo. En eso se parece a Alterno Nerva.

Volver a escribir fantasía es algo que necesitaba desde hace tiempo, y aunque esta novela me ha costado bastante (van tres bloqueos, y espero que no venga ninguno más) estoy muy complacido con el rumbo que ha tomado en estos capítulos. Mientras que los días pasan, sigo avanzando con estas dos chicas y su mundo lleno de magia, redescubriendo lo que es estar en lo más hondo y levantarse.

Good morning, Nighters. I hope you are well. This weekend I was reading and writing a lot, writing Ledén again after a creative block with that story. Although I focused on Cuentos de Hadas para no Dormir (thanks to those who asked for their review copies, by the way!), I kept thinking of Ámbar and Zoé, the protagonists of the novel.

As I was writing last Saturday, there was a phrase that stuck in my head, perhaps inspired by Christina Aguilera:

With a satisfied smile on her face, Zoé turned to go back to her companions, who were much further behind than she expected. Did the superiors want a warrior? She alone would become an army.

Zoé is a character that I'm in love with. A lot. She's a girl who has gone through hard things, and although she reminds me a lot of Paz, from Perfecta Maldición, there's an abysmal difference between the two: Paz was totally alone, while Zoé never was, no matter how intensely she felt otherwise.

This novel's connected to a story that I love, and that I have published on Wattpad, but which identity I reserve until it sees the light, hehehe. It has reminded me of what it's like to feel insignificant, fearful of the world, of everything and everyone around you, and even of yourself. It's a story where the characters seek to heal in a world that seeks to eliminate them because it neither understands nor wishes to do so. In that, it resembles Alterno Nerva.

Writing fantasy again is something I have needed for a long time, and although this novel has been a challenging one (I've had three blocks so far, and I hope there will not be anymore), I'm very pleased with the direction it has taken in these chapters. As the days go by, I keep moving forward with these two girls and their world full of magic, rediscovering what it is to be at the bottom and rise up.

Within Temptation - The Purge

¡Buen día, gente! ¿Cómo han estado? Hace unos días, Within Temptation lanzó su nuevo sencillo The Purge, el segundo de su próximo álbum aún sin título (esta gente ama torturar a sus fans, y nosotros somos unos masoquistas) luego de sorprender con Entertain You.

Aunque la descripción del video dice que tiene "vibras del viejo Within Temptation", en realidad se siente muy moderno y me parece muy similar a su álbum anterior, Resist, musicalmente hablando. La letra es todo lo contrario, mucho más vulnerable de lo que acostumbra a presentar la banda.

Eso es justamente lo que más me gusta del tema: que toca la sensación de impotencia de no poder hacer mucho, casi como si tuvieras que resignarte a lo que estás viviendo. El ritmo pesado contrasta con lo emocional de la voz de Sharon, aunque no por ello quiero decir que ella llora. Hay una furia en cada palabra que te hace estremecer.

Es un poco extraño que algunos versos no rimaran, pero la canción no pierde potencia por ello. Una vez que la escuchars un par de veces es imposible no enamorarse de ella y cantar The Purge a todo pulmón.. Ese próximo álbum viene cargado de fuerza, eso es seguro, y aunque la espera se me está haciendo eterna, estoy seguro que lo valdrá.

Good day people! How have you been? A few days ago, Within Temptation released their new single The Purge, the second from their upcoming, yet untitled album (these people love to torture their fans, and we are masochists) after surprising with Entertain You.

Although the description of the video says that it has "old Within Temptation vibes", it actually feels very modern and I find it very similar to their previous album, Resist, musically speaking. The lyrics are quite the opposite, much more vulnerable than what the band usually presents.

That is exactly what I like the most about the track: that it touches the feeling of helplessness of not being able to do much, almost as if you had to resign yourself to what you are experiencing. The heavy beat contrasts with the emotionality of Sharon's voice, although I don't mean to say that she cries. There is a fury in every word that makes you shudder.

It's a bit strange that some verses did not rhyme, but the song doesn't lose power because of it. Once you listen to it a couple of times it's impossible not to fall in love with it and sing The Purge at the top of your lungs. That next album is loaded with strength, that's for sure, and although the wait is taking forever, I'm sure it will. will be worth it.

Manga: Ao no Flag Vol. 4

Buenos días, Nocturnos. Espero que estén bien. ^^ Estos han sido días difíciles, pero ya estoy volviendo a mis lecturas, historias, y más. Hoy quiero compartirles mi opinión sobre Ao no Flag Vol. 4, por Kaito, otro libro en esta saga que me dejó sonriendo como un imbécil. Si no han empezado a leer esta saga... ¿Qué les pasa?

Un cuarteto amoroso inesperado con una pizca de amor no correspondido cuando dos compañeros de clase, un chico y una chica, comienzan a enamorarse cuando cada uno de sus mejores amigos ya se ha enamorado de ellos.

El amor ya es lo suficientemente difícil, pero se convierte en un laberinto imposible de navegar para el modesto estudiante de secundaria Taichi Ichinose y su tímida compañera de clase Futaba Kuze cuando comienzan a enamorarse el uno del otro después de que sus mejores amigos del mismo sexo ya se han enamorado de ellos.

El hermano mayor de Toma, Seiya, le pide a Taichi que averigüe por qué Toma no quiere ir a la universidad. El día de la salida de Toma del hospital, Taichi todavía no ha encontrado la manera de abordar el tema con Toma. Mientras tanto, Futaba descubre que se acerca el cumpleaños de Taichi y decide invitar al grupo a un festival de fuegos artificiales para que todos puedan celebrar.

Me encantó la tensión entre los personajes y la manera en que fueron cambiando paso a paso hasta volverse más abiertos con respecto a sus sentimientos, aunque esperaba que fuese mucho más movido, que tuviera un poco más de acción de la que encontré. Como siempre, el estilo de dibujo es precioso, con muchos detalles y planos en los que uno puede perderse viendo detenidamente.

Al igual que los volúmenes anteriores, este es un libro que se lee en nada. Literalmente puedes tenerlo listo en una sentada, y no te das cuenta de ello. Fue una lectura que me hizo sonseír mucho con los diálogos, aunque, como dije, tiene su dosis de tensión gracias a Seiya y toca los temas más temibles para cualquier estudiante del bachillerato: la universidad.

Me dejé llevar por los recuerdos mientras leía, y eso es lo mejor de todo: que te sumerjes de tal manera en la lectura que el tiempo se te pasa volando. Los personajes se vuelven más completos, van creciendo, y te sorprenden con cada capítulo que pasa, en especial con ese cliffhanger al final que te roba el aliento. ¡Me voy a morir un día de estos!

En resumen, Ao no Flag Vol. 4 es un volúmen que no defrauda en lo absoluto y que sigue sorprendiendo, aunque Kaito también juega con tus sentimientos sin  ninguna vergüenza. Sigo ansioso por saber cómo terminará todo, pero cada vez me da más miedo saber qué pasará con Itachi, que merece más protagonismo, y Toma, que merece más amor.

Today I want to share with you my opinion on Ao no Flag Vol. 4, by Kaito, another book in this saga that left me grinning like an idiot. If you haven't started reading this saga ... What's wrong with you?

An unexpected love quadrangle with a dash of unrequited love as two classmates, a boy and a girl, begin to fall for each other when each of their best friends have already fallen for them.

Love is already hard enough, but it becomes an unnavigable maze for unassuming high school student Taichi Ichinose and his shy classmate Futaba Kuze when they begin to fall for each other after their same-sex best friends have already fallen for them.

Toma’s older brother, Seiya, asks Taichi to find out why Toma doesn’t want to go to college. On the day of Toma’s release from the hospital, Taichi still hasn’t found a way to broach the subject with Toma. Meanwhile, Futaba discovers Taichi’s birthday is coming up, and she decides to invite the group to a fireworks festival so they can all celebrate.

I loved the tension between the characters and the way they changed step by step until they became more open about their feelings, although I expected it to be much more moving, to have a little more action than I found. As always, the drawing style is gorgeous, with lots of details and frames one can get lost looking at carefully.

Like the previous volumes, this is a book you read in no time. You can literally have it ready in one sitting, and you don't even realize it. It was a reading that made me smile a lot with the dialogue, although, as I said, it has its dose of tension thanks to Seiya and touches on the most fearsome subjects for any high school student: university.

I got carried away by the memories while reading, and that's the best part: that you immerse yourself in reading so much that time flies by. The characters become more complete, they grow, and they surprise you with each chapter that passes, especially with that cliffhanger at the end that takes your breath away. I'm going to die one of these days!

In summary, Ao no Flag Vol. 4 is a volume that does not disappoint at all and that continues to surprise, although Kaito also plays with your feelings without any shame. I'm still anxious to know how it will all end, but I'm getting more and more scared to know what will happen to Itachi, who deserves more prominence, and Toma, who deserves more love.

¡Nocturnos! ¡Habemus libro nuevo! Me levanté súper temprano el 31 de octubre y escribí como un demente hasta que terminé con Cuentos de Hadas para no Dormir. Fui corriendo hasta el mercado de la esquina para tener WiFi por unos minutos para subir el libro. Cuando me regresé, ya estaban listas las ediciones en digital y físico, ¡y ya está a la venta en varios portales! Fue difícil, ¡pero no imposible! Estoy súper contento con este libro, con la experiencia, porque aunque quedé con dolor de espalda y cabeza por unos días, era un proyecto que quería hacer desde hace MUCHO tiempo. Por ahora, me voy a tomar unos días para mí, necesito unas vacaciones urgentes, y aprovecharé para leer y subir reseñas.
