Buenos días, Nocturnos. ^^ ¿Cómo va la semana? He estado escribiendo más seguido, creando una nueva rutina que me de estabilidad. Es una de las desventajas de tener síndrome de asperger, pero mi mente funciona de esa manera. Este capítulo, titulado Plans, demuestra de qué madera está hecho Velou. Es su primer momento de verdadero estrellato para mostrar de lo que es capaz. Obviamente, todo iría en su favor, pero el desarrollo fue muy bueno. La lectura te mantiene atrapado en todo momento hasta que llega el final prometedor.

El arte es excelente, como siempre. Yuki Kawaguchi supo crear un crescendo visual que juega muy a favor de su historia y complemente un guión ya suficientemente sólido como para valerse por sí mismo. Siento que faltó un poco más de acción, pero ya eso es un gusto personal. Este capítulo estuvo muy bien construído desde el principio, te deja con un buen sabor al terminar de leerlo, y quedas con ganas de más.

Yo diría que estuvo bien logrado en general, con guión y arte complementándose mutuamente. Cerrar con un cliffhanger siempre me deja incómodo, la mayoría de las veces incluso quedo inconforme, pero, en este caso, fue un elemento que favoreció a The Hunters Guild: Red Hood. Estoy seguro de que se vienen grandes cosas luego de este capítulo.

This chapter, titled Plans, demonstrates what wood Velou is made of. It's the first moment of true stardom of him to show what he's capable of. Obviously, everything would go in his favor, but the development was very good. Reading keeps you stuck at all times until the promising ending comes.

The art is excellent, as always. Yuki Kawaguchi knew how to create a visual crescendo that plays very much in favor of his story and complements a script already solid enough to stand on its own. I feel like a little more action was lacking, but that's a personal taste. This chapter was very well-constructed from the beginning, it leaves you with good taste when you finish reading it, and you are left wanting more.

I'd say it was well done overall, with script and art complementing each other. Closing with a cliffhanger always leaves me uncomfortable, most of the time I'm even unhappy, but, in this case, it was an element that favored The Hunters Guild: Red Hood. I'm sure great things are coming after this chapter.

Música / Music: Monsta X - Kiss or Death

Buenos días, gente bonita. Espero que estén bien. ^^ Hace algunos días se lanzó un sencillo de una de las bandas que me hizo volver al kpop, un grupo que sigue gustándome y que estuve escuchando casi todo el tiempo que me tomó escribir Alterno Nerva: Kiss or Death, de Monsta X. Es un tema que no he dejado de escuchar desde que salió, aunque sigo sin poder seguir la letra (#Aiuda).

A diferencia de Wanted, que estaba muy equilibrada, esta canción está más orientada al pop, dejando a los raperos I.M y Joohoney un poco de lado, mientras que Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, y Hyungwon toman el estrellato. No obstante, tanto I.M como Joohoney aprovechan el tiempo que tienen. La letra también es intensa, llena de referencias a un amor torturado, de esos que no te dejan pensar claramente, pero trabajada con mucha sensibilidad. 

Musicalmente hablando, Kiss or Death es bastante relajada sin llegar a ser una balada. Monsta X logró una buena mezcla de electrónica, pop, rap, y un toque suave de rock en el coro. Las voces de los vocalistas principales se complementan a la perfección en el puente para un final bien trabajado. Siento que podrían haber tenido más potencia en cuanto a los tonos vocales, a veces parecían querer llegar a notas altas, pero el resultado sigue siendo bueno.

La influencia steampunk es un elemento importante y que va de la mano con la estética de ciencia ficción de Wanted, haciendo que se sienta como una especie de continuación de un trabajo de por sí excelente. Lo extraño del video es que no tiene una narrativa clara, aunque hay más de una escena que te ponen a pensar en una historia homoerótica.

Va a ser extraño disfrutar de un nuevo trabajo mientras que el líder del grupo, Shownu, esté prestado el servicio militar obligatorio de 18 meses que exige Corea del Sur, sin embargo, es muy probable que el próximo disco de Monsta X esté listo, y como me acabo de dar cuenta de que nunca escribí una reseña sobre One of a Kind, el EP más reciente del grupo, voy a ponerme a ello. Mientras tanto, tenemos un tema altamente pegadizo y sufrido con el cual esperar nuevo material.

Good morning, beautiful people. I hope they are well. ^^ A few days ago a single was released by one of the bands that made me go back to kpop, a group that I still like and that I was listening to almost all the time it took me to write Alterno Nerva: Kiss or Death, by Monsta X. a song that I haven't stopped listening to since it came out, although I still can't follow the lyrics (#Jelp).

Unlike Wanted, which was very balanced, this song is more pop-oriented, leaving rappers I.M and Joohoney a bit out of the way, while Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, and Hyungwon take on stardom. However, both I.M and Joohoney take advantage of the time they have. The lyrics are also intense, full of references to a tortured love, the kind that doesn't let you think clearly, but worked with great sensitivity.

Musically speaking, Kiss or Death is pretty laid back without being a ballad. Monsta X managed a good mix of electronics, pop, rap, and a soft touch of rock in the chorus. The lead vocals' voices complement each other perfectly on the bridge for a well-crafted ending. I feel like they could have had more power in terms of vocal tones, they seemed to want to hit high notes at times, but the result is still good.

The steampunk influence is an important element and it goes hand in hand with Wanted's sci-fi aesthetic, making it feel like a kind of continuation of an already excellent work. The strange thing about the video is that it doesn't have a clear narrative, although there's more than one scene that makes you think of a homoerotic story.

It's going to be strange to enjoy a new job while the group's leader, Shownu, is serving the 18-month mandatory military service that South Korea demands, however, it is highly likely that the next Monsta X disc will be ready, and since I just realized that I never wrote a review on One of a Kind, the group's latest EP, I'm going to get down to it. Meanwhile, we have a highly catchy and long-suffering track with which to look forward to new material.

Buenos días, Nocturnos. ^^ Espero que todo esté bien por allá. Hoy quiero contarles sobre un manga que trajo muchas sorpresas y con un drama pasivo-agresivo que debería ser ilegal. Luego de leer el primer volumen, necesitaba saber cómo continuaba todo, y no me decepcionó. Se trata de Koimonogatari: Love Stories, Volume 2, por Tohru Tagura. ¡Gracias a la editorial por enviarme una copia a cambio de una reseña honesta!

Cuando Yuiji descubre accidentalmente que su compañero de clase Yamato es gay y está enamorado de su mejor amigo, no sabe cómo reaccionar al principio. Pero después de pasar más tiempo juntos, los dos se vuelven amigos cercanos. Mientras Yamato lucha con su sexualidad, Yuiji lo apoya y mantiene su secreto, con la esperanza de que Yamato pueda encontrar una manera de aceptarse a sí mismo y ser feliz. Mientras tanto, Yuiji tiene problemas para sentirse conectado con su novia de mucho tiempo, y se da cuenta de que, aunque todavía se preocupa por ella, la chispa de su relación se ha desvanecido.

El amor es algo complicado y desordenado, especialmente en la escuela secundaria, donde los rumores hirientes y los compañeros intolerantes pueden hacer la vida insoportable. Yamato y Yuiji enfrentan sus propias luchas individuales, pero juntos aprenden una lección muy importante: es difícil buscar el romance si no te amas a ti mismo primero.

Aunque se mantiene el estilo tranquilo con el que empezó la serie, el ritmo de Koimonogatari: Love Stories, Volume 2 es más acelerado y empiezan a tener lugar varios eventos que trastocan la vida de Yuiji y Yamato por igual. Solo voy a decir que ya la sinopsis dice mucho y no precisamente de manera sutil. Básicamente, todo lo que pueden esperar de este volumen está allí pero sin arruinar las sorpresas.

Las ideas que Tohru Tagura planteó en el el libro anterior están cobrando fuerza, tienen más forma, son más sólidas, llevando a los personajes por caminos inesperados que los harán descubrir quiénes son realmente. Hay una buena dosis de realidad, un poco idealizada, si me preguntan, pero la hay de manera bastante directa y honesta.

Me gustó mucho que este volumen se tomara más tiempo en desarrollar la historia y los personajes. Sentí que estaban pasando tantas cosas que podría no haber suficiente espacio, y admito que me atterorizaba la idea de que este fuese el último volumen, pero el desarrollo fue precioso, igual que el arte (amor eterno, punto, no tengo nada más que agregar), y solo resta esperar al siguiente libro.

Admito que esto último fue una sorpresa agridulce porque todo terminó con una confesión que me dejó boquiabierto. Aunque Koimonogatari: Love Stories, Volume 2 cierra con un cliffhanger ilegalmente cruel, es una historia imposible de no amar. Tohru Tagura ha sabido construir una muy buena trama, así que nada, nos toca esperar.

After reading the first volume, I needed to know how it all went, and it did not disappoint. It's about Koimonogatari: Love Stories, Volume 2, by Tohru Tagura. When Yuiji accidentally finds out his classmate Yamato is gay and has a crush on his best friend, he doesn’t know how to react at first. But after spending more time together, the two of them become close friends. While Yamato struggles with his sexuality, Yuiji supports him and keeps his secret, hoping that Yamato can find a way to accept himself and be happy. Meanwhile, Yuiji is having trouble feeling connected to his long-time girlfriend, realizing that although he still cares about her, the spark in their relationship has faded.

Love is a complicated, messy thing — especially in high school, where hurtful rumors and intolerant classmates can make life unbearable. Yamato and Yuiji face their own individual struggles, but together, they learn one very important lesson: it’s hard to search for romance if you don’t love yourself first.

Although the calm style with which the series began is maintained, the pace of Koimonogatari: Love Stories, Volume 2 is more accelerated and several events begin to take place that disrupts the lives of Yuiji and Yamato alike. I'm just going to say that the synopsis already says a lot and not precisely in a subtle way. Basically, everything you can expect from this volume is there but without ruining the surprises.

The ideas that Tohru Tagura raised in the previous book are gaining strength, they are more shaped, more solid, taking the characters along unexpected paths that will make them discover who they really are. There is a good dose of reality, a little idealized if you ask me, but there it is in a fairly direct and honest way.

I really liked that this volume took more time to develop the story and characters. I felt that so much was happening that there might not be enough space, and I admit that I was terrified that this could be the last volume, but the development was beautiful, as was the art (eternal love, period, I have nothing more to add ), and it only remains to wait for the next book.

I admit the latter was a bittersweet surprise because it all ended with a jaw-dropping confession. Although Koimonogatari: Love Stories, Volume 2 closes with an illegally cruel cliffhanger, it's a story you cannot not love. Tohru Tagura has managed to build a very good plot, so that's it, we have to wait.

Este es el tipo de historia que quería, justo de lo que les hablaba ayer cuando les decía que quería algo que hiciera de ella única. Yuki Kawaguchi dejó entrever que los monstruos de su mundo son diferentes a los que conocemos, y aunque usó un estilo cómico en muchos sentidos, también dejó entrever lo crudo que este manga puede llegar a ser. 

Esta vez, el guión de The Hunters Guild: Red Hood es más fuerte que en los capítulos anteriores, construyendo tensión suficiente para dejarte con ganas de más, ganas de saber qué va a pasar con Velou cuando se ve a cargo de una misión aparentemente más grande que él mismo. Es un capítulo que se lee en una sentada no solo por lo breve (que sigo sin entender por qué si el primero fue el doble de extenso), sino por el estilo.

Yuki Kawaguchi volvió a colocar los temas de humanidad y monstruosidad al frente y centro de la trama. Bien podríamos estar ante un manga que hable justo de lo humano en los monstruos y vice versa. Sirivió como una probada de lo que podemos esperar de esta historia, no muy extensa, pero sí deja entrever que será un manga interesante.

Es imposible no amar el tercer capítulo de The Hunters Guild: Red Hood. Ya se nota el tipo de historia que será, el tipo de mundo en el que nos encontramos, el estilo que maneja su creador, y te deja con muchas ganas de más.

This is the kind of story I wanted, just what I was talking about yesterday when I was telling you that I wanted something that would make it unique. Yuki Kawaguchi hinted that the monsters in his world are different from the ones we know, and although he used a comic style in many ways, he also hinted at how crude this manga can be.

This time, the script of The Hunters Guild: Red Hood is stronger than the previous chapters, building enough tension to leave you wanting more, wanting to know what will happen to Velou when he finds himself in charge of a seemingly bigger mission than him. It's a chapter that can be read in one sitting not only because of how short it is (which I still don't understand why if the first one was twice as long), but because of the style.

Yuki Kawaguchi brought the themes of humanity and monstrosity back to the front and center of the plot. We could well be before a manga that speaks just of the human in monsters and vice versa. It served as a taste of what we can expect from this story, not very extensive, but it does suggest that it will be an interesting manga.

It's impossible not to love the third chapter of The Hunters Guild: Red Hood. You can already see the type of story that it will be, the type of world in which we find ourselves, the style that its creator uses, and it leaves you wanting more.

He estado leyendo otro poco, poniéndome al día con todo lo que tengo pendiente, y una de esas lecturas es un manga del que les hablé no hace mucho y que me llama mucho la atención. Luego de un primer capítulo bastante extenso, me extraña que este capítulo y los siguientes sean tan cortos y con tan poco espacio, pero supongo que será normal en este manga. Esta vez, The Hunters Guild: Red Hood nos presenta el primer paso que toma Velou para convertirse en cazador, y queda más que claro que es un chico muy apegado a sus raíces, su origen, su pasado, y mucho más a su presente. Sin embargo, eso no implica que sea alguien sin aspiraciones.

Velou también demuestra ser un personaje muy claro y directo porque hace las preguntas correctas cuando Crimson le propone unirse al gremio de cazadores, porque lo que me espero más respuestas en los próximos capítulos. Básicamente, se trata de este chico mostrando que es maduro y seguro, junto con algunos personajes segundarios con los que Yuki Kawaguchi mantiene el interés del lector.

El estilo es precioso y el arte me sigue enamorando, aunque hubo un panel en específico con fuertes influencias ecchi que me pareció excesivamente innecesario. Espero que sea solo algo ocasional, sin mucha importancia, que The Hunters Guild: Red Hood no se vuelva un manga ecchi más porque sería una decepción.

En general, fue un buen segundo capítulo, sin muchas sorpresas pero que entreteniene por encima de todo. Yuki Kawaguchi te mantiene atento en todo momento y el arte tan bien cuidado, pero sigo esperando a que surja algo que haga a este un manga diferente, algo que defina su identidad.

After a fairly long first chapter, it's weird that this chapter and the following are so short and with so little space, but I suppose it will be normal in this manga. This time, The Hunters Guild: Red Hood presents us with the first step that Velou takes to become a hunter, and it is more than clear that he is a boy very attached to his roots, his origin, his past, and much more to his present. However, that does not imply that he's someone without aspirations.

Velou also proves to be a very clear and direct character because he asks the right questions when Crimson proposes to him to join the hunters guild, the reason for which more answers in the next chapters. It's basically about this guy showing that he is mature and confident, along with some supporting characters that Yuki Kawaguchi holds the reader's interest with.

The style is beautiful and the art still makes me fall in love, although there was a specific panel with strong ecchi influences that seemed excessively unnecessary. I hope it's just an occasional, unimportant thing, that The Hunters Guild: Red Hood doesn't become just another ecchi manga because it would be a disappointment.

Overall, it was a good second chapter, without many surprises but entertaining above all else. Yuki Kawaguchi keeps you attentive at all times and the art is so well cared for, but I'm still waiting for something to emerge that makes this a different manga, something that it defines its identity.

Sin embargo, estuve leyendo un libro que me llevó a los rincones más oscuros del mundo, y no porque hable de casas abandonadas, castillos, cementerios, hospitales, ni nada. Se trata de la casa embrujada más peligrosa de la tierra: Haunted: Horror of Haverfordwest, por G.L. Davies. ¡Gracias al autor por enviarme una copia a cambio de una reseña honesta!

Lee este relato verdaderamente aterrador que está conmocionando al mundo.

Mentiría si dijera que fue una lectura sencilla porque no lo es de ninguna manera. Es difícil, fuerte, cruda, cruel, y a veces lo que lees es sencillamente demasiado. Todos tenemos un límite con respecto a lo que podemos tolerar, y Haunted: Horror of Haverfordwest se acercó peligrosamente al mío. Es una lectura que te reta a reconsiderar la realidad, lo posible, y lo inhumano.

Primero que nada, se trata de dos libros en uno, dos historias conectadas, ambas relacionadas a los horrores vividos por dos parejas distintas en esta casa sacada directamente del infierno. Ambas partes están estructuradas en forma de testimonios por quienes vivieron estas experiencias, junto con varios comentarios por parte de G.L. Davies que ofrecen bastantes datos interesantes al respecto.

Uno diría que el exceso de honestidad y la realidad cruda y sin maquillaje que presenta Haunted: Horror of Haverfordwest son demasiado extremas, pero son justamente los aspectos que más benefician la lectura. Aunque te horroriza a niveles impensables, es imposible dejar de leer. Tuve que tomar varios recesos, pero el estilo de la narración te sumerge de una manera impresionante, haciéndote sentir las vivencias de ambas familias y replantearte tus ideas sobre la realidad.

De lectura obligatoria para los amantes del horror y las historias paranormales reales, Haunted: Horror of Haverfordwest dejará a todos los lectores horrorizados. Admiro a G.L. Davies por haber tenido la fortaleza de trabajar en estas historias por años, porque si fue difícil leerlas no quiero ni pensar en escribirlas, mucho menos en vivirlas. Una excelente investigación que te congelará la sangre.

Good morning, beautiful people. I spent these two days away from the internet because I was on my birthday, hehe. I'm officially 26 years old, and I have a week-long offer to celebrate. However, I was reading a book that took me to the darkest corners of the world, and not because it talks about abandoned houses, castles, cemeteries, hospitals, or anything. It's about the most dangerous haunted house on earth: Haunted: Horror of Haverfordwest, by G.L. Davies. Thanks to the author for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review!

I would be lying if I said it was a simple reading because it is not by any means. It is difficult, strong, crude, cruel, and sometimes what you read is simply too much. We all have a limit to what we can tolerate, and Haunted: Horror of Haverfordwest came dangerously close to mine. It's a reading that challenges you to reconsider reality, the possible, and the inhuman.

First of all, it is two books in one, two connected stories, both related to the horrors experienced by two different couples in this house straight out of hell. Both parts are structured in the form of testimonies by those who lived these experiences, along with various comments by G.L. Davies that offer quite a few interesting facts about it.

One would say that the excess of honesty and the raw, makeup-free reality that Haunted: Horror of Haverfordwest presents are too extreme, but they are precisely the aspects that benefit the reading the most. Although it horrifies you to unthinkable levels, it's impossible to stop reading. I had to take several breaks, but the style of the narrative immerses you in an impressive way, making you feel the experiences of both families and rethink your ideas about reality.

A must-read for lovers of horror and true paranormal stories, Haunted: Horror of Haverfordwest will leave all readers horrified. I admire G.L. Davies for having had the strength to work on these stories for years, because if it was difficult to read them, I don't even want to think about writing them, much less living them. Excellent research that will freeze your blood.

Pensando: La Página en Blanco / Thinking: The Blank Page

Buenos días, gente bonita. ¿Cómo va la semana? He estado pensando por un tiempo en todo lo que leemos los escritores cuando buscamos consejos de escritura, en esos interminables memes y chistes que vemos en internet, y en que a veces, aunque muchas de esas cosas no sean verdad, las asumimos como tales. Creo que el ejemplo más célebre es el caso de la página en blanco.

"Todos le tenemos miedo", "sé que es difícil", y frases similares se encuentran como arroz picado en internet y en las redes sociales. Sin embargo, ¿cuál es el miedo? Específicamente, para ser exactos, ¿hay que tenerle miedo a qué? Es solo una página en blanco. Solo una página en blanco. No hay que pensar en nada. Solo es una página en blanco.

Cuando empecé a escribir, lo hice porque tenía muchas ideas, muchas historias, y aún las tengo, aún pienso en que quiero crear esta trama o conocer mejor a este personaje, pero con el tiempo he leído tantas veces la bendita fobia a la página en blanco que acabé asumiéndola como mía también. Pasé mucho tiempo peleando para iniciar una historia porque se supone que debes luchar contra el inicio, y, de verdad, ¿qué carajos significa eso?

Yo inicio como me da la gana, como mejor me parece en el momento, y muchas veces es el mejor inicio que puede haber. La historia fluye sola una vez que solo me siento y me dejo llevar. Ayer estaba leyendo una entrada de Kassfinol sobre cómo nos autosaboteamos los escritores, y hubo uno sobre la musa que me llamó mucho la atención donde ella dice que "la inspiración te debe conseguir trabajando." Sí y mil veces sí. Les recomiendo mucho leer la entrada completa porque es preciosa y te hace reír, pero esa frase me encantó más que cualquier otra.

Una amiga me pidió ayuda para empezar a escribir hace unos días. Quería saber qué hacer, qué no, cuál era el mejor método, y todo lo que le dije fue "solo siéntate a escribir", "deja que la historia fluya sola", y frases por ese estilo. Si se supone que escribir es un arte, entonces no hay que complicarlo tanto sino disfrutarlo por encima de todo.

Desde hace tiempo mandé a la basura muchos de los consejos que leí para escribir, y nunca he tenido ganas de leer libros sobre cómo escribir. Sí quiero saber editar, presto atención a los libros que leo para aprender de ellos, busco cómo mejorar en cuanto a publicidad y mercadeo, pero escribir es algo que es mío y solo mío. Pienso que así debe ser, y lejos de tenerle miedo a la página en blanco prefiero verla como una oportunidad para empezar una nueva aventura.

Good morning, beautiful people. How is the week going? I've been thinking for a while about everything that we writers read when looking for writing tips, about those endless memes and jokes that we see on the internet, and that sometimes, although many of those things are not true, we assume them as such. I think the most famous example is the case of the blank page.

"We are all afraid of it", "I know it is difficult", and similar phrases are found like minced rice on the internet and on social media. However, why the fear? Specifically, to be exact, you have to be afraid of what? It's just a blank page. Just a blank page. There is nothing to think about. It's just a blank page.

When I started writing, I did it because I had many ideas, many stories, and I still have them, I still think that I want to create this plot or get to know this character better, but over time I have read so many times the blessed phobia of the blank page that I ended up assuming it as mine too. I spent a lot of time struggling to start a story because you are supposed to fight the start, and really, what the fuck does that mean?

I start as I please, as it seems best to me at the moment, and many times it is the best start there can be. The story flows on its own once I just sit and let myself go. Yesterday I was reading a post by Kassfinol about how we writers sabotage ourselves (only in Spanish), and there was one about the muse that caught my attention where she says "inspiration should get you working." Yes and thousand times yes. I highly recommend reading the entire post because it's beautiful and it makes you laugh, but I loved that phrase more than any other.

A friend asked me for help to start writing a few days ago. She wanted to know what to do, what not to do, which was the best method, and all I told her was "just sit down and write", "let the story flow by itself", and phrases like that. If writing is supposed to be an art, then you don't have to complicate it so much but rather enjoy it above all else.

I've long thrown away a lot of writing advice I read, and I've never felt like reading books on how to write. I do want to know how to edit, I pay attention to the books I read to learn from them, I look for ways to improve in terms of advertising and marketing, but writing is something that is mine and mine alone. I think that's the way it should be, and far from being afraid of the blank page, I prefer to see it as an opportunity to start a new adventure.

Buenos días, gente bonita. Espero que se sientan bien hoy. Pasé una buena noche, recupérandome más, y organizándome una vez más. Ayer me vi otro cortometraje, esta vez uno más orientado a la fantasía que otra cosa, y que me dejó bastante satisfecho. Corto y efectivo, Hexenjagd (Witch-hunt), dirigido por Thomas Bernecker, cuenta una historia sencilla pero de manera interesante.

Witch-hunt cuenta la mentira de un hombre a su esposa, que fue catalogada por la población como bruja. Para que el castigo sea lo más agradable posible, su marido decide tomarlo en sus propias manos y salvarla de la hoguera. Pero no fue completamente honesto con su esposa y parece haberle ocultado algo. Pero el castigo siempre golpea a las personas adecuadas.

El cortometraje Witch-hunt (título original: Hexenjagd) es una película de aplicación del director de fotografía André Schlabitz para la Academia Alemana de Cine y Televisión de Berlín (DFFB) en el campo de la cinematografía. El tema dado para la película de aplicación fue "mentira" y la atención se centró en las imágenes del director de fotografía.

El guión es bastante sencillo, aunque las escenas y las actuaciones se sienten naturales. Obviamente, el personaje de la bruja es mi favorito, no solo porque Thomas Bernecker se aleja un poco del estereotipo de la anciana decrépita, sino que da paso a una femme fatale visual que rescata la crudeza de las brujas de antaño. Solo puedo quejarme del maquillaje, que parece de esos baratos que venden para Halloween.

No obstante, Hexenjagd (Witch-hunt) se desarrolla muy bien y te muestra a dos personajes moralmente ambigüos que te ponen a pensar sobre quién es realmente el monstruo. No me queda claro qué fue lo que le ocultó el hombre a su esposa, pero sí se adivina una relación complicada entre ambos. De nuevo, el maquillaje de la esposa pudo ser mejor, o por lo menos que la mancha de sangre no pareciera un bigote.

La edición es igual de sencilla, pero efectiva. El toque independiente y de bajo presupuesto juega muy a favor de Hexenjagd (Witch-hunt), André Schlabitz como director de fotogragía le dio un aspecto precioso a todo el cortometraje, y Thomas Bernecker supo mantener un alto nivel en el desarrollo y la ejecución. Perfecto para pasar un buen rato, plantearse preguntas incómodas sobre la humanidad de los propios humanos, y disfrutar de una estética llamativa.

Yesterday I saw another short film, this time one more fantasy-oriented than anything else, and it left me quite satisfied. Short and effective, Hexenjagd (Witch-hunt), directed by Thomas Bernecker, tells a simple but interesting story.

Witch-hunt tells the lie of a man to his wife, who was classified by the population as a witch. In order to make the punishment as pleasant as possible her husband decides to take it into his own hands and save her from the stake. But he was not completely honest with his wife and seems to have concealed something from her. But the punishment always hits the right people.

The short film witch-hunt (original title: Hexenjagd) is an application film by the cinematographer André Schlabitz for the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB) in the field of cinematography. The given topic for the application film was "lie" and the focus was on the imagery of the cinematographer.

The script is pretty straightforward, although the scenes and performances feel natural. Obviously, the character of the witch is my favorite, not only because Thomas Bernecker departs a bit from the stereotype of the decrepit old woman, but because he gives way to a visual femme fatale that rescues the rawness of the witches of yesteryear. I can only complain about the makeup, which looks like those cheap ones they sell for Halloween.

Nonetheless, Hexenjagd (Witch-hunt) plays out very well and shows you two morally ambiguous characters that get you thinking about who the monster really is. It is not clear to me what the man concealed from his wife, but a complicated relationship between the two is guessed. Again, the wife's makeup could have been better, or at least that her bloodstain didn't look like a mustache.

Editing is just as simple, but effective. The independent and low-budget touch plays very much in Hexenjagd (Witch-hunt)'s favor, André Schlabitz as cinematographer gave the entire short a beautiful look, and Thomas Bernecker kept a high standard in development and execution. Perfect for having a good time, asking uncomfortable questions about the humans' humanity, and enjoying eye-catching aesthetics.

Comic: Stillwater by Zdarsky & Pérez #1

Buenos días, gente bonita. ¿Cómo estuvo su fin de semana? El mío estuvo genial, salvo por anoche que tuve otro ataque de tos que no me dejó dormir, jeje. La buena noticia es que al menos pasé la noche leyendo hasta quedarme dormido. Hoy quiero contarles sobre una de esas lecturas: Stillwater by Zdarsky & Pérez #1, con un guión de Chip Zdarsky y arte de Ramón K. Pérez. La mejor parte es que pueden leer el primer número de manera gratuita en la web de Image Comics.

Únete al escritor superestrella CHIP ZDARSKY (THE WHITE TREES, Daredevil) y al artista ganador del premio Eisner RAMÓN K PÉREZ (Jim Henson's Tale of Sand, Jane) mientras se sumergen en un mundo de terror e intriga en esta nueva serie de Skybound.

El guión es bastante sencillo pero con un toque original, una idea base que sirve como punto de partida para lo que se mira como una serie interesante. Hay elementos de literatura gótica muy clásicos desde el inicio de Stillwater by Zdarsky & Pérez #1, lo que me lleva a pensar que habrá muchos más, que no solo será una serie de horror, sangre, violencia, y elementos paranormales, sino también una historia que explorará temas filosóficos y sociales.

Evidentemente se lee en una sentada, pero las primeras páginas se me hicieron pesadas, como si carecieran de encanto, de pasión. Las cosas mejoran mucho más conforme pasas las páginas, y el final es bastante intrigante. A pesar de un incio frustrante, Chip Zdarsky te mantiene interesado en la historia en todo momento sin que sientas que te pierdes de algo.

El arte de Ramón K. Pérez me llamó mucho la atención desde el principio. Crudo pero muy limpio, crea un contraste que funciona bastante bien en este primer número. Stillwater by Zdarsky & Pérez #1 se apoya mucho en su aspecto gráfico por ahora, sin descuidar la historia, pero sí noté que hay cierto desequilibrio porque la narración pierde fuerza por momentos.

Diría que este primer número tiene un desarrollo bastante bueno y ofrece un punto de partida sólido para lo que parece ser una serie prometedora. Obviamente no hay mucha información y es muy pronto para hacer cualquier suposición, pero Stillwater by Zdarsky & Pérez #1 te hace disfrutar de la historia tan pronto como esta llega a donde tiene que llegar.

Today I want to tell you about one of those readings: Stillwater by Zdarsky & Pérez #1, with a script by Chip Zdarsky and art by Ramón K. Pérez. The script is quite simple but with an original touch, a basic idea that serves as a starting point for what is seen as an interesting series. There are elements of very classic Gothic literature from the beginning of Stillwater by Zdarsky & Pérez #1, which leads me to think that there will be many more, which will not only be a series of horror, blood, violence, and paranormal elements, but also a story that will explore philosophical and social themes.

Obviously, it is read in one sitting, but the first pages became heavy as if they lacked charm, passion. Things get a lot better as you turn the pages, and the ending is quite intriguing. Despite a frustrating start, Chip Zdarsky keeps you interested in the story at all times without you feeling like you're missing out on something.

The art of Ramón K. Pérez caught my attention from the beginning. Raw but very clean, it creates a contrast that works quite well in this first issue. Stillwater by Zdarsky & Pérez #1 relies a lot on its graphic aspect for now, without neglecting the story, but I did notice that there's a certain imbalance because the narrative loses strength at times.

I'd say this first issue is pretty well developed and offers a solid starting point for what appears to be a promising series. Obviously, there is not much information and it is too early to make any assumptions, but Stillwater by Zdarsky & Pérez #1 makes you enjoy the story as soon as it gets where it needs to go.
