I have been somewhat removed from my readings for work, I admit, but there is a holy trinity that has saved me: comics, mangas and manhwas, three different ways of telling stories through drawings.
As I know that some may have their doubts about it, I wanted to explain more or less of what each one is going. I take this opportunity to tell you that this is my opinion and that there are exceptions in all three cases, for good and for bad.
The Comic is the best known by all, American or European, and with a solid structure in terms of history, but without much importance in art. It is almost always in color, and try to be as commercial as you can. Let's say I'm in a love-hate relationship with this just for the latter. One that I love is Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose.
With respect to Manga, which is the Japanese version in black and white... I'm rather tired of it. Many of their stories fall into the cliché, safe bets and extreme: they take their genders to the limit, bordering on the ridiculous. Doujinshis, which are independent mangas, are more respectable in many cases. Important: they are the only ones that are read from right to left. I've wanted to read Rozen Maiden for a long while; I loved the anime!

The one that seems to be my perfect love is the manhwa, the Korean, also black and white version, also in black and white. The stories are more realistic, attractive, art is more stylized and delicate. It has a well-done balance between the two sides, and seems to have some preference for dark or paranormal stories. What I said: the love of my life. The best example is The Tarot Café.

He estado algo alejado de mis
lecturas por motivos de trabajo, lo admito, pero hay una santísima trinidad que
me ha salvado: Los cómics, mangas y manhwas, tres diferentes formas de contar
historias por medio de dibujos.
Como sé que algunos podrían tener
sus dudas al respecto, quería explicarles más o menos de qué va cada uno.
Aprovecho para decirles que esto es mi opinión y que hay excepciones en los
tres casos, para bien y para mal.

El Cómic es el más conocido por
todos, americano o europeo, y con una estructura sólida en cuanto a historia,
pero sin mucha importancia en el arte. Casi siempre es a color, y trata de ser
tan comercial como se pueda. Digamos que estoy en una relación de amor-odio con
este justamente por lo último. Uno que amo es Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose.
Con respecto al Manga, que es la
versión japonesa en blanco y negro… estoy algo cansado de él. Muchas de sus
historias caen en el cliché, apuestas seguras y extremas: llevan sus géneros al
límite, rayando en lo ridículo. Los Doujinshis, que son mangas independientes,
son más respetables en muchos casos. Importante: son los únicos que se leen de derecha
a izquierda. He querido leer Rozen Maiden por mucho tiempo; ¡amé el anime!
El que parece ser mi amor
perfecto es el Manhwa, la versión coreana, también en blanco y negro. Las historias
son más realistas, atractivas, el arte es más estilizado y delicado. Tiene un
equilibrio muy bien logrado entre ambas partes, y parece que tienen cierta
preferencia por historias oscuras o paranormales. Lo que decía: el amor de mi
vida. El mejor ejemplo es The Tarot Café.
