Musical Friday / Viernes Musical: Love is Dead (Kerli)

Hello guys! How have you been?
¡Hola muchachos! ¿Cómo han estado?

Since some of its songs match what I've been feeling lately, today i wanted to share with you one of my favorite albums, which has a very dark sound: Love is Dead, by Kerli. It's almost a shamed that this girl changed so much her style, but her music keeps being awesome.

Dado que algunas de sus canciones coinciden con lo que he estado sintiendo últimamente, hoy quería compartirles uno de mis álbumes favoritos, que tiene un sonido muy oscuro: Love is Dead, de Kerli. Es casi una lástima que esta chica cambió tanto su estilo, pero su música sigue siendo impresionante.

Many of the tracks are related to depression, gothic metaphores and direct messages, the perfect soundtrack to sing-along while you feel down; many of them have also helped me. Bulletproof, Love is Dead and Walking on Air are between my favorites.

Muchas de las pistas están relacionadas con la depresión, las metáforas góticas y los mensajes directos, la banda sonora perfecta para cantar mientras se sienten desanimados; muchas de ellas también me han ayudado. Buletproof, Love is Dead y Walking on Air están entre mis favoritos.

Charmed: Season 7 / Temporada 7

Hello over there! Haw i it going on in your lives?
¡Hola! ¿Qué tal les va en sus vidas?

It's been a while since the last time I spoke about this TV series, and I just want you to know is not that it became a bad one, but because of problems with Netflix, however, I won't go into details. Since I already finished this season, I just want to tell you guys to please, please, watch it. I'm in the middle of the final season and things are going great!

Ha pasado un tiempo desde la última vez que hablé de esta serie de televisión, y sólo quiero que sepan que no es que se convirtió en una mala, sin por problemas con Netflix, sin embargo; no voy a entrar en detalles. Ya que ya terminé esta temporada, sólo quiero decirles que por favor, por favor, la vean. ¡Estoy en medio de la temporada final y las cosas van muy bien!

This seventh was planned as the final season for Charmed, and so it seemed to be, since the plans for a big battle was on its way, trying to provide a proper final for most of the characters while some story developing and keeping the same formula from previous seasons.

La séptima fue planeada como la temporada final de Charmed, y así parecía ser, ya que los planes para una gran batalla estaban en camino, tratando de proporcionar un final adecuado para la mayoría de los personajes, a la vez que desarrollaban un poco de historia y mantenían la misma fórmula de temporadas anteriores.

I won't go over the Halliwell sisters' acting, as it is almost perfect, like always. They are better in some episodes than others, but their experience is more than solid to know how would their characters react in certain situations. The one that surprised me for real was Rose McGowan in her role as Paige Matthews, who knew how to take advantage and evolve her character thanks to the different facets she had to show.

No voy a hablar sobre la actuación de las Hermanas Halliwell, ya que es casi perfecta, como siempre. Son mejores en algunos episodios que otros, pero su experiencia es más que sólida para saber cómo reaccionarían sus personajes en ciertas situaciones. La que me sorprendió de verdad fue Rose McGowan en su papel de Paige Matthews, quien supo aprovechar y evolucionar su personaje gracias a las diferentes facetas que tuvo que mostrar.

Despite it wasn't as darker as the other ones, the seventh season has some creepy material in more than one episode, trying to be a middle point between the fourth and the sixth, with elements from both and recovering some enchant from its begginings.

A pesar de que no fue tan oscura como las otras, la séptima temporada tiene un material tétrico en más de un episodio, tratando de ser un punto medio entre la cuarta y sexta, con elementos de ambos y recuperando algunos encantos de sus comienzos.
However, there are some minor details in some episodes that made me thought I was watching a different thing, stand-alone stories that didn't really fit. They added their grain of sand to the general plot, but the style was something different and wasn't the kind of content you expect.
Sin embargo, hay algunos detalles menores en algunos episodios que me hicieron pensar que estaba viendo una cosa diferente, historias autónomas que no encajaban realmente. Añadieron su grano de arena a la trama general, pero el estilo era algo diferente y no era el tipo de contenido que esperas.

Also, there's a better use of special effects, pretty balanced and with enough drama dose to make Charmed keep its original style, along with some interesting scenes and great photography. As I said reviewing previous seasons, consider the time when Charmed was done; I'm sure you'll see these people did a great job.
Además, hay un mejor uso de efectos especiales, bastante equilibrado y con dosis de drama suficiente para hacer que Charmed mantenga su estilo original, junto con algunas escenas interesantes y gran fotografía. Como he dicho revisando temporadas anteriores, consideren el momento en que se hizo Charmed; estoy seguro de que verán que esta gente hizo un gran trabajo.
Many people have told me that the final was pretty closed and it was hard to image a new season, but that's not my case. It felt natural, not forced at all, and, to be honest, it wasn't as epic as I thought it would be, so I'm expecting a better one for season 8.
Mucha gente me ha dicho que el final estaba bastante cerrado y que era difícil imaginar una nueva temporada, pero ese no es mi caso. Se sentía bastante natural, no forzado en absoluto, y, para ser honesto, no fue tan épico como pensé que sería, así que estoy esperando un mejor para la temporada 8.

New story on Wattpad! / ¡Nueva historia en Wattpad!

Just as I said some days ago, my plans for this new year are to recover old, unfinished projects, as I want them to have the right time and space. One of my favorites is a retelling I started to publish on Wattpad during 2015, based in the Sleeping Beauty's tale: Reflections.

Tal como dije hace unos días, mis planes para este nuevo año son recuperar los viejos proyectos inacabados, ya que quiero que tengan el tiempo y espacio adecuados. Uno de mis favoritos es un retelling que comencé a publicar en Wattpad durante 2015, basado en el cuento de la bella durmiente: Reflections.

As you can expect, Reflection will be a story with and about witches, magic, and I think my first long-one with faeries; I'd like to learn more about this race, and what a better way to do it than writing?

Como se puede esperar, Reflections será una historia con y sobre brujas, magia, y creo que mi primera larga con hadas; Me gustaría aprender más sobre esta raza, ¿y qué mejor manera de hacerlo que escribiendo?
Also, it will be only in English. For some strange reason I cannot understand yet, some stories sound better in another language, just like with songs, and this one was planned to be in English since the beggining. I promise I'll publish the Spanish version, but after the original version is ready.

Además, sólo será en inglés. Por alguna extraña razón que no puedo entender aún, algunas historias suenan mejor en otro idioma, al igual que con las canciones, y ésta estaba planeada para estar en inglés desde el principio. Prometo que voy a publicar la versión en español, pero después de que la original esté lista.
I'll be publishing the chapters each Friday and Monday, which means you'll have the first one tomorrow! The most probable time for me to do it is during the morning, keep an eye on Wattpad until then!

Musical Friday / Viernes Musical: Neverworld's End (Xandria)

Hello people! Happy Friday!
¡Hola gente! ¡Feliz viernes!

The first MF of the year will be for a power, symphonic metal band I recently listened to: Xandria. I went over their whole discography (you'll see why very soon ^^) and Neverworld's End has become my favorite album from them.

El primer VM del año será para una banda de metal sinfónico y power que escuché recientemente: Xandria. Pasé por toda su discografía (verán por qué muy pronto ^^) y Neverworld's End se ha convertido en mi álbum favorito de ellos.

It's a very dark disc, I think the darkest so far, with poetic lyrics, Manuela Kraller's incredible voice, powerful sound, and an enchanting ballad as a perfect ending. I have some tracks I don't get bored of like Evermore, Euphoria and When The Mirror Cracks, but the overall result is great and I know many of you will love it.

Es un disco muy oscuro, creo que el más oscuro hasta ahora, con letras poéticas, la increíble voz de Manuela Kraller, un sonido potente y una encantadora balada como un final perfecto. Tengo algunas pistas de las que no me aburro como Evermore, Euphoria y When The Mirror Cracks, pero el resultado general es genial y sé que a muchos de ustedes les encantará.

Hello over there, people! How is this week going on?

¡Hola, gente! ¿Cómo va esta semana?

New Year, New Projects and stuff, as always, right? For me, it is more about taking old ones and working on them again, and one was my YT channel, which I have miss for a while. Now that I have the time and Internet to record and edit videos, you can expect one weekly, just like before. Here's the first one after that hiatus!

Año Nuevo, Nuevos Proyectos y cosas, como siempre, ¿verdad? Para mí, es más acerca de tomar los viejos y trabajar en ellos de nuevo, y uno era mi canal de YT, que me he extrañado por un tiempo. Ahora que tengo tiempo e Internet para grabar y editar videos, pueden esperar uno semanal, como antes. ¡Aquí está el primero después de ese hiato!

The only thing that will change, as I said on it, is that I'll be speaking only in English in order to have a better pronunciation but be sure to check the channel between Thursday and Friday, which are the days I'm most likely to update it ^^

Lo único que cambiará, como ya he dicho, es que estaré hablando sólo en inglés para tener una mejor pronunciación, pero asegúrense de revisar el canal entre jueves y viernes, que son los días en más probablemente actualizaré ^^

Thinking: Dark fantasy? / Pensando: ¿Fantasía oscura?

Lately I have been organizing the stories I want and must work on, and I realized something, besides the Olympic disaster I had and the large number of paused projects: Many of the stories I have are dark fantasy.
Últimamente he estado organizando las historias en las que quiero y debo trabajar, y me di cuenta de algo, además del desorden olímpico que tenía y la gran cantidad de proyectos pausados: Muchas de las historias que tengo son de fantasía oscura.
The term is somewhat confusing when heard the first time, it can be easily confused with urban fantasy, low fantasy, horror and even fantasy in general. Where do you draw the line? I know that some people have the same doubts I used to have, so I decided to share my opinions.
El término es algo confuso cuando se lo escucha la primera vez, se presta para ser confundido con la fantasía urbana, la fantasía baja, el horror y hasta la fantasía en general. ¿Dónde se traza la línea? Sé que algunos podrían tener las mismas dudas que yo hace tiempo, así que decidí compartir mis opiniones.

We all have in mind that fantasy is that story where magic is the central theme, and no, it's not the same as science fiction, if anyone asks, since they focus more on technology, science and the mechanics
Todos tenemos en claro que la fantasía es aquella historia en donde la magia es el tema central, y no, no es lo mismo que la ciencia ficción, por si alguien lo pregunta, ya que esta se centra más en la tecnología, la ciencia y la mecánica.
We can make the general division by saying that high fantasy is that which unfolds in a world other than the human (The Lord of the Rings, The Name of the Wind, Eragon, Song of Ice and Fire) and low fantasy is where both worlds are connected in some way (Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland, Narnia, The Wizard of Oz, Shadowhunters).
Podemos hacer la división general diciendo que la fantasía alta es la que se desarrolla en un mundo diferente al humano (El Señor de los Anillos, El Nombre del Viento, Eragon, Canción de Hielo y Fuego) y la fantasía baja es en donde ambos mundos se conectan de alguna forma (Harry Potter, Alicia en el País de las Maravillas, Narnia, El Mago de Oz, Cazadores de Sombras).

Among the subgenres is dark fantasy, which can easily be used either in the high or low, shares some similarities, very light, with horror and the Gothic novel, and maybe even with the supernatural genre, although this is up to the criteria of each of us.

Entre los subgéneros está la fantasía oscura, que fácilmente puede usarse bien sea en la alta o la baja, la cual comparte algunas similitudes, muy ligeras, con el terror y la novela gótica, y puede que incluso con el género paranormal, aunque ya eso queda a criterio de cada uno.

Charles L. Grant, considered the creator of this subgenre, said that it is "a type of horror story in which humanity is threatened by forces beyond human understanding," which serves as a good starting point.

If we see some movies and read some books, we realize that dark fantasy plays a lot with the role of heroes, almost always away from the ideal we have on them, adding several dark and sinister elements, both in the narrative style and In the mythology of the story.

Si vemos algunas películas y leemos algunos libros, nos damos cuenta de que la fantasía oscura juega bastante con el papel de los héroes, casi siempre alejándolos del ideal que se tiene de ellos, añadiendo varios elementos tétricos y siniestros, tanto en el estilo narrativo como en la mitología de la historia.

Unlike in horror, where the victim is who counts the events, the creature is the one that makes of narrator in this subgenre. It may be a vampire, a lycanthrope, a ghost, a necromancer, an elf... and they are almost always given a chiaroscuro, playing with moral lines.

A diferencia del terror, donde la víctima es quien cuenta los sucesos, la criatura es la que hace de narradora en este subgénero. Puede ser un vampiro, un licántropo, fantasma, necromante, un elfo... y casi siempre se les da un claroscuro, jugando con las líneas morales.

Unlike the more conservative Gothic literature, dark fantasy does not attempt to analyze philosophical issues. Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles are considered as an example, for although they fall into the subgenre, they have a more notorious Gothic influence.

A diferencia de la literatura gótica más conservadora, la fantasía oscura no pretende analizar cuestiones filosóficas, Las crónicas vampíricas, de Anne Rice, se consideran como un ejemplo, pues aunque caen en el subgénero, tienen una influencia gótica más notoria.

However, there is a similarity with Gothic aesthetics, since several elements that could be considered of this genre are also found in dark fantasy. Symbolism, references to fairy tales, metaphors, existential dialogues, among other resources that a writer can use with complete freedom.

Sin embargo, sí hay una similitud con la estética gótica, pues varios elementos que se podría considerar de este género se encuentran también en la fantasía oscura. Simbolismo, referencias a cuentos de hadas, metáforas, diálogos existenciales, entre otros recursos que un escritor puede usar con completa libertad.

As always, there are several exceptions. There are stories in this line that don't have everything I say, first because it would be boring to be typed in a manual at the time of writing, and second because I'm not an academic authority. Theorists themselves say it is difficult to define these kind of stories, and if someone asks me, it is precisely this that makes them so interesting.

Igual que siempre, hay varias excepciones. Hay historias en esta línea que no tienen todo lo que yo digo, primero porque sería aburrido encasillarse en un manual a la hora de escribir, y segundo porque no soy una autoridad académica. Los mismos teóricos dicen que es difícil definir este tipo de historias, y si alguien me pregunta, es precisamente esto lo que me las vuelve tan interesantes.

I know I promised to publish this a couple of days ago, but I have a new real job and got really busy these first days. But here I am again, with lots of projects and plans for this new year, and thought you'd like to know what I've ben doing these days.

Sé que prometí publicar esto hace un par de días, pero tengo un nuevo trabajo real y me puse muy ocupado estos primeros días. Pero aquí estoy otra vez, con muchos proyectos y planes para este nuevo año, y pensé que querrían saber lo que he hecho en estos días.

The first one was to publish I fled in vain in digital ^^ for those who don't know, it's a book of gothic poems focusing on the darker side of human mind. If any of you loves the cover for the digital edition, make sure to see Lucía' other works! She's done some cool creations and I know many of you, writers and readers alike, will be interested on what she has designed so far ^^

El primero fue publicar I fled in vain en digital ^^ para aquellos que no saben, es un libro de poemas góticos centrado en el lado más oscuro de la mente humana. Right now I'm planning to finish some stories I started a long time ago and that I should have already finished, and since I'm having MANY ideas, it will be better to be free and develop them as I want to. However, I'm also thinking on some changes on my life, my job and the projects I collaborate with, among many other things. Be sure as hell I'll be busy this year!
Ahora mismo estoy planeando terminar algunas historias que empecé hace mucho tiempo y que ya debería de haber terminado, y ya que tengo MUCHAS ideas, será mejor estar libre y desarrollarlas como quiero. Sin embargo, también estoy pensando en algunos cambios en mi vida, mi trabajo y los proyectos con los que colaboro, entre muchas otras cosas. ¡Estén seguros que estaré ocupado este año!
