Thinking: The importance of Non-fiction / Pensando: La importancia de la No-ficción

Hello people, how have you been?
While I was watching my past year's readings I realized something curious: my number of non-fiction books has hugely increased! Subjects such as medicine, history, mythology and spirituality are among the topics I read about during 2017, and the list goes on because there are a few waiting for me in my shelves.
It surprised me because I started reading to escape reality, to forget about the very real world and keep myself immersed in fiction, fantasy and adventure as long as I could. To know anything about the world I live in wasn’t something that I had in mind when I was 13 years old or so, but seems things have changed (for good, I hope.)
Now, since I’ve been trying to expand my interests, maybe because of my master’s in research, maybe because people simply change, non-fiction books have made their own way to my head, and I’ve found myself looking at topics I would have never thought about when I was a teenager.
And of course this has affected my writing, of course I feel a little bit wiser; this entry feels totally different in terms of writing when I compare it to the rest, just to give you a quick example, which gives me an awesome feeling! My mind has been slowly building the ideal kind of man I want to be in a few years, and non-fiction as a tool for my witches, my vampires, my ghosts, my fantasy, my drama and my romance are totally a good part of the plan.
To build a character, plan a plot, set an idea and create a timeline has become pretty easy now, something unthinkable to my younger self, who would only start writing and keep his eyes open to see what happens next. I still do it, of course I do it, I will never kill that inner boy and his magic, but he has a mentor now.
Just like Emilie Autumn said on Instagram, “I can only imagine who I will be ten years from now. I hope I shock myself.”

Espero quedar traumatizado".

Greetings and hugs
Un saludo y un abrazo
