Wattpad: El príncipe gris/ The Gray Prince

Buenos días, gente. ¿Qué tal les va? Hoy les quiero hablar sobre un cuento precioso que leí no hace mucho en Wattpad pero que se me quedó grabado. Es una historia corta, sencilla y directa, perfecta para el Mes del Orgullo. Se trata de El príncipe gris, de Matías Zitterkopf.

Un cuento de diversidad y aceptación donde el príncipe Thomas deberá encontrar el valor para pintar su vida con colores. Tal vez el príncipe Nicholas pueda ayudarle con eso.

La sinopsis es bastante directa, pero tengo que decir que no le hace justicia a lo místico de la historia. Matías te traslada en el acto a todos los escenarios y sientes lo mismo que los personajes gracias a esas descripciones y el estilo que tiene. Es una historia que se lee en nada pero que recuerdas con cario a medida que pasa el tiempo.

El tema de los colores juega un papel importante, y junto con lo breve hacen que sea una historia perfecta para leérsela a los niños. Muchos critican esto, dicen sin base que es predisponerlos, lavarles el cerebro, pero Matías deja en claro cuál es el tema principal: ser tu verdadero yo, usar los colores que quieras y ser libre (al mejor estilo Frozen).

Les recomiendo leer El príncipe gris si quieren una historia linda, un final feliz, pero también algo que sirva para educar a los más pequeños, un cuento de fantasía que les llame la atención, que disfruten ustedes de contar y ellos de escuchar, y que les deje una lección importante. No me cansaré de decirlo: es una historia preciosa, mágica en todos los sentidos.

Good morning people. How are you doing? Today I want to tell you about a beautiful story that I read not long ago on Wattpad but that stuck with me. It's a short, simple and straightforward tale, perfect for Pride Month. This is The Gray Prince, by Matías Zitterkopf.

A short story about acceptance. Prince Thomas must find the courage to paint his life in colors and leave all that gray behind. Perhaps, prince Nicholas can help him with that.

The synopsis is fairly straightforward, but I have to say it doesn't do justice to the mystique of the story. Matías transports you on the spot to all the settings and you feel the same as the characters thanks to those descriptions and the style he has. It's a story you read in no time but that you remember fondly as time goes by.

The theme of colors plays an important role, and together with its shortness they make it a perfect story to read to children. Many criticize this, they say with no basis that it's predisposing them, brainwashing them, but Matías makes it clear what the main theme is: being your true self, using the colors you want and let it go (in the best Frozen style.)

I recommend reading The Gray Prince if you want a nice story, a happy ending, but also something that serves to educate the little ones, a fantasy tale that catches their attention, that you enjoy telling and they listen to, and that leaves an important lesson. I will never tire of saying it: it is a beautiful story, magical in every way.

¡Buenos días, Nocturnos! Espero que hayan pasado un buen fin de semana. Yo estuve todos estos días sin internet (Venezuela es así) pero pude contrarrestar leyendo y con los datos del teléfono. ¿Ustedes? ¿Qué tal? Como saben, Kudai lanzó una nueva versión de su primer tema hace días, haciendo que muchos volviéramos a tener entre 13 y 17 años. Esa fue una época que me marcó, y sus canciones se han mantenido para mí (igual que para todos los fans), así que no podía dejar de pasar la oportunidad para compartirles mis favoritas. Solo un par de acotaciones: Dejaré las dos versiones de Déjame Gritar, la original con Nicole Natalino, y la reedición con Gabriela Villalba, y pueden escuchar el audio oficial de Disfraz dándole clic al nombre porque el video es una presentación en vivo (calidad de imagen muy cuestionable, en eso estamos de acuerdo.)

Good morning, Nighters! I hope you had a good weekend. I was all these days without internet (Venezuela be like) but I was able to counteract by reading and with the phone data. You guys? How are you? As you know, Kudai released a new version of their first song days ago, making many of us return to be between 13 and 17 years old. That was a time that marked me, and their songs have remained for me (as well as for all fans), so I could not miss the opportunity to share my favorite ones. Just a couple of comments: I'll leave both versions of Déjame Gritar, Let Me Scream, the original with Nicole Natalino, and the reissue with Gabriela Villalba, and you can listen to the official audio of Disfraz by clicking on the name because the video is a live presentation (very questionable image quality, we agree on that.)

¡Perdonen si no saludo si no digo nada, pero tengo el hype a millón! Es la 1:34 AM aquí en Maracaibo y hace media hora me enteré de que Kudai sacó una nueva versión de Sin Despertar. ¡Me morí!

Los que me conocen saben que no escucho música en español, pero Kudai siempre fue la excepción, siempre, y nunca he dejado de amar sus canciones sin importar cuánto tiempo pase. Son parte de mi adolescencia, y son iconos latinos para todos los que crecimos en la década del 2000.

Sin Despertar fue el primer sencillo que lanzaron, el 12 de marzo de 2004 según una tal Wikipedia, como parte de su primer Disco, Vuelo, que lanzaron el 10 de julio de ese mismo año. Fue el inicio de un grupo emblemático, un cuarteto que marcaría una década entera para el público latino y que pasaría a la historia por sus letras, su estética, sus videos y el carisma de sus integrantes.

16 años, 3 meses y 2 semanas exactamente después, y en medio de una pandemia que nos tiene encerrados a todos, esta gente vuelven a grabar el tema que inició todo. Y casi me provocan un ataque. La canción se escucha mucho mejor, está más cuidada, se nota más profesional, pero mantiene ese aire soñador, inocente y nostálgico de la primera versión. Es imposible no cantar la letra y sentirse libre una vez más.

Ahora, sobre el video: ¡Sonreí como un idiota todo el tiempo! La vibra que transmite, los colores y el concepto, todo es perfecto, tal y como debía ser para este momento tan especial. Es imposible no ponerse de buen humor al verlo.

No sé qué vendrá después de esto, porque no soy el único de sus fans que les pidió otra versión 2020 (Llévame parece ser la más solicitada, ¡y con razón!), pero por ahora solo pienso disfrutar, una vez y otra más.

Excuse me if I don't say hello if I don't say anything, but I have maximum hype! It is 1:34 AM here in Maracaibo and half an hour ago I learned that Kudai released a new version of Sin Despertar, Unawakened. I died!

Those who know me know that I don't listen to music in Spanish, but Kudai was always the exception, always, and I have never stopped loving their songs no matter how much time passes. They are part of my adolescence, and they are Latino icons for all of us who grew up in the 2000s.

Sin Despertar was the first single they released, on March 12, 2004 according to one Wikipedia, as part of their first album, Vuelo, Flight, which they released on July 10 of that same year. It was the beginning of an emblematic group, a quartet that would mark an entire decade for the Latin public and that would go down in history for its lyrics, its aesthetics, its videos and the charisma of its members.

16 years, 3 months and 2 weeks exactly later, and in the midst of a pandemic that has us all locked up, these people re-record the song that started it all. And they almost caused me an attack. The song sounds much better, it's more taken-care-of, feels more professional, but it maintains that dreamy, innocent and nostalgic air of the first version. It is impossible not to sing the lyrics and feel free once again.

Now about the video: I smiled like an idiot the whole time! The vibes it transmits, the colors and the concept, everything is perfect, just as it should be for this special moment. It's impossible not to put yourself in a good mood when you see it.

I don't know what will come after this, because I'm not the only one of their fans who asked them for another 2020 version (Llévame, Take me. seems to be the most requested, and with good reason!), But for now I only plan to enjoy, una vez y otra más.

El primer arco argumental del cuento gótico de MIRKA ANDOLFO llega a su final. Lady Hellaine encuentra un interés amoroso... ¿o es solo parte de sus maquinaciones? ¿Quiénes son los despiadados "cazadores", y que están rastreando? ¿Y cuál es su relación con lo que sea que habita en las minas abandonadas?

El comienzo se me hizo bastante extraño porque sale un poco de lo usual en el universo de la historia, pero todos los cabos sueltos se atan conforme llegas al final de la historia. Esto no quiere decir que no surjan nuevas preguntas, pero hay suficiente material como para mantenerse sumergido en este mundo de secretos y horror.

La trama es un poco más lenta, construyendo tensión en cada página para dejarte a la expectativa, y ni hablar del final. Aunque lo sentí un poco apresurado, sienta las bases para más capítulos, pero tengo miedo de que no haya suficiente desarrollo. Hay demasiados misterios hasta ahora, así que va siendo hora de algunas respuestas.

Sin embargo, la atmósfera y el arte no decepcionan. Admito que son mi interés principal para seguir esta serie (¡aunque la historia me encanta!), pero los colores y el diseño de los personajes no dejan de sorprenderme. Las luces y las sombras destacaron mucho más que en los números anteriores, además.

Con una pequeña dosis LGBT+, mucha intriga y elementos de horror originales, Mirka Andolfo's Mercy #3 es un deleite para los ojos. Conocemos nuevas facetas de los personajes, sus límites y se nos presenta un grupo interesante de cazadores que podrían afectar en gran manera a la recién formada familia de tres. Toca esperar para saber.

The first story arc of MIRKA ANDOLFO’s Gothic tale comes to an end. Lady Hellaine finds a love interest…or is this just a part of her machinations? Who are the ruthless “hunters,” and what are they tracking? And what’s their relationship with whatever lies in the abandoned mines?

The beginning was quite strange for me because it comes out a bit of the usual in the universe of the story, but all the loose ends are tied as you get to the end of the story. This is not to say that no new questions arise, but there is enough material to keep you immersed in this world of secrets and horror.

The plot is a little slower, building tension on each page to leave you waiting, not to mention the end. Although I felt it a bit rushed, it lays the groundwork for more chapters, but I'm afraid there won't be enough development. There are too many mysteries so far, so it's time for some answers.

However, the atmosphere and art do not disappoint. I admit that they are my main interest to follow this series (although I love the story!), but the colors and the characters design don't cease to amaze me. The lights and shadows stood out much more than in the previous issues, too.

With a small LGBT + dose, lots of intrigue and original horror elements, Mirka Andolfo's Mercy #3 is a delight for the eyes. We meet new facets of the characters, their limits and we are presented with an interesting group of hunters that could greatly affect the newly formed family of three. We have to wait to find out.

¡Buenos días, Nocturnos! Espero que estén bien. Hoy les traigo un reto para los amantes de la fantasía, las brujas, los monstruos, y los villanos, especialmente los villanos de Disney. Estoy empezando The Beast Within, el segundo libro de la Saga Villanos de Serena Valentino, y estoy tan encantado que decidí crear un reto para celebrar el lanzamiento de Evil Thing, la séptima novela de la saga, el 7 de julio de este año.

Es sencillo: Leer y reseñar los seis libros que se han publicado hasta ahora antes de que Cruella aparezca, y quienes ya leyeron la saga también pueden volver a ella para pasar la espera. ¡Buenos días, Nocturnos! Espero que estén todos bien. Decidí hacer las cosas bien con esta saga y empezar por el inicio, además de que se trata de la Reina Grimhilde, mi bruja Disney favorita entre todas. Es la novela que nos revela el pasado de Su Majestad, La más bella del Reino: Una historia de la Reina Malvada, de Serena Valentino.

Todo el mundo conoce la historia de Blancanieves y de su malvada madrastra. Hay variaciones, sí, pero el cuento es prácticamente el mismo: una reina tan celosa de la belleza de una muchacha que intenta incluso quitarle la vida. Lo que casi nunca se cuenta, sin embargo, es cómo llegó la reina a convertirse en una mujer tan despiadada. Quizá siempre fue un ser horrible que consiguió engatusar a su marido. Otros dicen que el motivo por el que odiaba tanto a la muchacha era porque le recordaba demasiado a la primera esposa del rey. Teorías hay muchas y este libro explora una de ellas, jamás contada hasta la fecha. Esta es una historia de amor y de pérdida con un toque de magia. Esta es la historia de la Reina Malvada.

Casi todo el libro se trata de la vida de la Reina, al cual permanece sin nombre, y conocemos cómo el trauma, el abuso, el maltrato y desprecio la llevaron a un camino de ruina y desgracia que acabaría con ella. también conocemos a detalle la vida en el castillo, quiénes rodeaban a la Reina y cómo fue que se convirtió en la bruja que todos amamos amo.

Me sorprendió lo oscuro y a veces hasta violento que se vuelve el libro, considerando que es para niños. No hay nada muy sangriento o gráfico, pero sí hay algunas escenas subidas de tono. Esto le dio un toque mucho más interesante a la trama, la hizo más atractiva y recuperó el encanto de la película original, la cual dudo sería igual si la hicieran hoy en día. Grimhilde se destaca por su frialdad, y Serena Valentino la presenta muy bien.

Sin embargo, me quedé esperado sus diálogos más emblemáticos, frases que me hicieron tenerle pavor cuando era niño, y ni hablar del final catastrófico que le esperaba. No tiene sentido ese giro a último minuto en la psiquis de Grimhilde. No fue el caso, sino todo lo contrario. SPOILER luego de tomarse la poción de la hermanas. Se supone que no queda un ápice de bondad y arrepentimiento en ella, ¿y decide suicidarse? Lo siento, pero no, no lo creo. El ataque de histeria hubiese quedado perfecto sin la última intervención de las hermanas, y aún así había esperanza, pero que ella decidiera morir y cortar la escena en ese momento no funcionó para mí. FIN DEL SPOILER.

La más bella del Reino: Una historia de la Reina Malvada es una historia llena de encanto pero que nos muestra el descenso a la locura de una mujer que solo quería amar y ser amada, una chica que buscó esperanza en cada rincón sin cansarse, pero cuyas heridas del pasado terminaron transformándola en la villa más peligrosa de todas. Una lectura llena de enseñanzas y moralejas perfecta para los niños más sádicos y con gustos más oscuros.

I decided to do things right with this saga and start at the beginning, plus it's about Queen Grimhilde, my favorite Disney witch (link only in Spanish) of all. It's the novel that reveals the past of Her Majesty, Fairest of All: A Tale of the Wicked Queen, by Serena Valentino.

The tale of the young princess and her evil stepmother, the Wicked Queen, is widely known. Despite a few variations from telling to telling, the story remains the same—the Queen was jealous of the girl’s beauty, and this jealousy culminated in the Queen’s attempt on the sweet, naive girl’s life. Another tale far less often spoken of is the one that explains what caused the Queen to become so contemptuously vile. Still, some have attempted to guess at the reason. Perhaps the Queen’s true nature was that of a wicked hag and her beautiful, regal appearance a disguise used to fool the King. Others claim that the Queen might have hated the girl for her resemblance to the King’s first wife. Mostly, the Queen is painted as a morally abhorrent woman who never loved another being during the course of her miserable life. In fact, the theories about exactly what cause the Queen’s obsessive vanity and jealous rage are too numerous to catalog. This book recounts a version of the story that has remained untold until now. It is a tragic tale of love and loss, and it contains a bit of magic. It is a tale of the Wicked Queen.

Almost the entire book's about the Queen's life, during which she remains nameless, and we know how trauma, abuse, mistreatment and contempt led her to a path of ruin and disgrace that would end her. We also know in detail the life in the castle, who surrounded the Queen and how she became the witch we all I love.

I was surprised by how dark and sometimes even violent the book becomes, considering it is for children. There's nothing very bloody or graphic, but there are some racy scenes. This gave the plot a much more interesting touch, made it more attractive, and regained the charm of the original film, which I doubt would be the same if it were made today. Grimhilde stands out for her coldness, and Serena Valentino presents her very well.

However, I was waiting for her most emblematic dialogues, phrases that made me dread her as a child, not to mention the catastrophic ending that awaited her. It wasn't the case, but quite opposite. SPOILER That last-minute twist on Grimhilde's psyche makes no sense after taking the sisters' potion. There's not supposed to be an iota of kindness and regret left in her, and she decides to commit suicide? Sorry, but no, I don't think so. The hysterical attack would have been perfect without the sisters' last intervention, and still there was hope, but that she decided to die and cut the scene at that moment didn't work for me. END OF SPOILER.

Fairest of All: A Tale of the Wicked Queen is a story full of charm but that shows us the descent into madness of a woman who only wanted to love and be loved, a girl who sought hope in every corner without getting tired, but whose past wounds ended up transforming her into the most dangerous villain of all. A reading full of teachings and morals perfect for the most sadistic children with darker tastes.

Música / Music: Shadow Works

Feliz inicio de semana, Nocturnos. ^^ ¿Cómo han estado? Yo estoy trabajando aún en la corrección de Alterno Nerva, que me está costando bastante. Hay diálogos enteros que he tenido que reescribir para que sean más naturales, escenas que cambio, agrego, elimino... Estoy haciendo una ensalada, en pocas palabras.

Aunque justo ahora estoy escuchando otras canciones, hace algunos días estaba volviendo a un disco que me encanta, Shadow Works, el trabajo más reciente de Kerli. Soy fanático de todo lo que hace esta mujer, independientemente de las decisiones que tome, porque siempre da la talla y no tiene miedo de explorar estilos, ideas y géneros.

Shadow Works es el resultado de una catarsis emocional por medio de su arte. Luego de un rompimiento que la dejó vuelta trizas, Kerli deshechó el concepto con el que venía trabajando, del cual se mantienen los sencillos Feral Hearts, Blossom y Diamond Heart. Lo que parecía ser un álbum soñador y lleno de esperanza dejó de resonar con ella, y se convirtió en un trabajo de introspección para sanar las heridas.

El resultado es este disco que explora el dolor, el despecho, la espiritualidad de la cantante (¡es bruja!) y crea himnos a la fortaleza e independencia en cada pista. Mis favoritas desde hace tiempo son Everybody Bleeds the Same, Giving up the Ghost y Legends, que resumen muy bien los temas del disco.

Aunque extraño a la chica oscura que se dio a conocer con Love Is Dead, su primer álbum, la evolución es innegable. Shadow Works es una luz al final del túnel para los que nos hemos sentido perdidos y desilusionados, aquellos que hemos olvidado cómo brillar por nuestra cuenta. Escucharlo es un ritual de liberación.

Happy start to the week, Nighters. ^^ How have you been? I'm still working on the correction of Alterno Nerva, which's taking its toll on me. There are entire dialogues I've had to rewrite to make them more natural, scenes that I change, add, delete... I'm making a salad, in a nutshell.

Although right now I'm listening to other songs, a few days ago I was going back to an album that I love, Shadow Works, Kerli's most recent work. I'm a fan of everything this woman does, regardless of the decisions she makes, because she always measures up and is not afraid to explore styles, ideas and genres.

Shadow Works is the result of an emotional catharsis through her art. After a breakup that left her in pieces, Kerli undid the concept she had been working with, from which the singles Feral Hearts, Blossom and Diamond Heart remain. What appeared to be a dreamy and hopeful album ceased to resonate with her, and became an introspection work to heal the wounds.

The result is this album that explores the singer's pain, spite, and spirituality (she's a witch!) and creates hymns to strength and independence on every track. My favorites for a long time are Everybody Bleeds the Same, Giving up the Ghost and Legends, which summarize the songs on the album very well.

Although I miss the dark girl who was unveiled with Love Is Dead, her first album, the evolution is undeniable. Shadow Works is a light at the end of the tunnel for those of us who have felt lost and disappointed, those of us who have forgotten how to shine on our own. Listening to it is a ritual of liberation.

Aunque Sandman Vol. 5: A Game of You, de Neil Gaiman, es uno de los más amados por el público y la crítica, y toca temas que me encantan, a mí en particular me costó seguirlo, sentí incluso que se me hizo pesado.

Esta historia está protagonizada por Barbie, quien primero aparece en La Casa de Muñecas y ahora descubre que es una princesa en un vívido mundo de sueños.

Voy a empezar diciendo que me encantó el tema de la realidad y la identidad, cómo estos están tan relacionados y es, a fin de cuentas, nuestra percepción la que define cada uno. El personaje de Wanda es sin dudas una de mis favoritos, y que Gaiman incluyera brujas y la problemática del género y sexo en los círculos de brujería, junto con el cierre que dio, fue excelente.

Lo mismo sucede cuando Barbie dice que ese mundo de fantasía al que es transportada no puede ser real porque es el mundo de sus sueños, y como respuesta le dicen que ella va a ese mundo a soñar, pero que es mucho más antiguo. ¿Qué garantía tenemos de que nuestra realidad sea real? Bien podemos ser los sueños de alguien más, algo que no creo que queramos pensar a menudo.

Sin embargo, la historia en sí se me hizo pesada, poco atractiva en algunas partes, y me costó seguirla porque más allá de los diálogos no encontraba un gancho. Me sentí saturado la mayor parte del tiempo por el elenco que creía tan rápido y la cantidad de situaciones que se llevaban a cabo, todas al mismo tiempo. Obviamente es obra de un maestro, que sabe manear varios sucesos a la vez, pero a mí me agotó.

De todas formas, Sandman Vol. 5: A Game of You es una historia que no ha perdido vigencia, mucho menos si tenemos en cuenta las protestas que estan teniendo lugar en todo el mundo. Hay un grito de justicia e igualdad colectivo que es imposible de ignorar, y lo mismo pasa aquí: los personajes pelean sin descanso hasta lograr que se haga justicia, tanto para ellos en particular como para causas que los sobrepasan.

I will start by saying that I loved the issue of reality and identity, how these are so related and it is, ultimately, our perception that defines each one. The character of Wanda is undoubtedly one of my favorites, and that Gaiman included witches and the problem of gender and sex in witchcraft circles, along with the closure he gave, was excellent.

The same thing happens when Barbie says that the fantasy world she is transported to cannot be real because it is the world of her dreams, and in response they tell her that she goes to that world to dream, but that it is much older. What guarantee do we have that our reality is real? We may well be someone else's dreams, something I don't think we want to think about often.

However, the story itself was heavy, unattractive in some parts, and I had a hard time following it because beyond the dialogues I couldn't find a hook. I felt saturated most of the time by the cast that believed so fast and the number of situations that were taking place, all at the same time. Obviously it is the work of a teacher, who knows how to handle several events at the same time, but it exhausted me.

Anyway, Sandman Vol. 5: A Game of You is a story that has not lost its relevance, much less if we consider the protests that are taking place around the world. There is a cry for collective justice and equality that is impossible to ignore, and the same thing happens here: the characters fight tirelessly until justice is done, both for them in particular and for causes that surpass them. these

Un grupo de adolescentes es aterrorizado por "Freddy Krueger", un ser malvado de otro mundo que llega a sus víctimas al entrar en sus sueños y los mata con guantes que tienen cuchillos unidos a cada dedo.

No creo que pueda decir algo que no se haya dicho ya sobre esta leyenda de cine. Sabía un poco sobre Krueger y su historia, pero desconocía los detalles. Evidentemente el guión es impecable, con la única excepción de la escena final, la cual Craven odió hasta el fin de sus días, pero es la única falla en una película innovadora para su tiempo.

Tanto la producción como los efectos son impresionantes, los personajes muy humanos y la historia bastante creíble. Tenemos a una heroína poderosa, una guerrera en toda la definición de la palabra, y un villano que te pone los pelos de punta, un ser que es imposible no amar. Freddy es un personaje que te hipnotiza desde el principio por su carácter sádico, frío, y a la vez divertido, casi como si fuese una parodia de sí mismo.

Aunque tiene una buena dosis de humor, esta primera película es sumamente oscura y tétrica. Es fácil ver por qué pasó a la historia, porque nos muestra que a veces el mal no muere, sino que se fortalece. Freddy viene a ser una representación de los miedos de la sociedad, todo lo que estimamos inhumano, inaceptable e imperdonable para restregarnos en la cara que nunca seremos una sociedad perfecta. Con todos los ingredientes correctos, no es extraño que esta película se volviera una legenda.

A group of teenagers are terrorized by "Freddy Krueger", an evil being from another world who gets to his victims by entering their dreams and killing them with gloves that have knife blades attached to each finger.

I don't think I can say something that hasn't already been said about this movie legend. I knew a little about Krueger and his story, but was unaware of the details. Obviously the script's impeccable, with the only exception of the final scene, which Craven hated until the end of his days, but it is the only flaw in an innovative film for its time.

Both the production and the effects are impressive, the characters very human and the story quite credible. We have a powerful heroine, a warrior in all the definition of the word, and a villain who makes your hair stand on end, a being who is impossible not to love. Freddy's a character that hypnotizes you from the beginning for his sadistic, cold, and at the same time funny character, almost as if he were a parody of himself.

Although it has a good dose of humor, this first film is extremely dark and gloomy. It's easy to see why it went down in history, because it shows us that sometimes evil does not die, but becomes stronger. Freddy becomes a representation of the fears of society, everything that we consider inhuman, unacceptable and unforgivable to rub in our face that we will never be a perfect society. With all the right ingredients, it's no wonder that this movie became a legend.

El mundo de Disney me encanta, y finalmente pude poner mis garras en la saga Villanos, en donde las películas más amadas de Disney se vuelven cuentos oscuros con los villanos como protagonistas. Cometí el error de empezar con este libro creyendo que se trataba de una serie, cuando en realidad en una saga, pero igual disfruté mucho con Pobre Alma en Desgracia, de Serena Valentino, que nos habla de la Bruja del Mar, Úrsula.

La historia de Ariel, la hija del rey de los océanos, es sobre cómo perder -y encontrar- nuestra voz. Ha sido contada muchas veces de muchas maneras. Pero la sirena siempre quiere más de lo que su mundo puede ofrecer, y su padre exige que viva dentro de los límites del reino. Su rebeldía le cuesta la voz y por poco el alma. Pero el poder del bien triunfa y Ariel emerge orgullosa y transformada. Pero esta es solo la mitad de la historia. ¿Qué pasa con la némesis de Ariel, Úrsula, la bruja del mar? ¿Qué la llevó a ser tan retorcida, tan despreciable y tan llena de odio? Finalmente vemos qué fue lo que volvió a Úrsula la bruja detestable que nos aterró cuando éramos niños, y aunque no justifica sus acciones puedo decir que la entiendo. El nivel de trauma que pasó esta mujer es impresionante, y creo que cualquier estaría sediento de venganza en su lugar.

Serena respetó completamente los eventos de la película, agregando personajes nuevos y escenas que bien pudieron haber tenido lugar en el largometraje, y crea nuevas escenas memorables mientras que mantiene las clásicas. Es un recuento ingenioso que se mantiene fiel al material original, pero con suficiente magia propia para brillar por su cuenta.

Admito que estuve perdido en algunas escenas porque es el tercer libro de la saga, pero igual es un libro corto que se lee solo y se disfruta muchísimo. Me sentí niño una vez más, preguntándome qué sería de los personajes, tanto los viejos como los nuevos, lo cual creo es importante hoy en día considerando el mundo al revés en el que vivimos.

Pobre Alma en Desgracia es un libro que te hace soñar una vez más y te mantiene atrapado en todo momento con un lenguaje sencillo, directo, con la dosis exacta de humor y misterio. Perfecto para los niños de hoy y los adultos que crecimos con la película.

I love Disney World, and finally I could put my claws in the Villains saga, where the most beloved Disney movies become dark tales with villains as protagonists. I made the mistake of starting this book believing it was a series, while it is actually a saga, but I still really enjoyed Poor Unfortunate Soul: A Tale of the Sea Witch, by Serena Valentino, which tells us about the Sea Witch, Ursula (link only in Spanish).

Finally we see what it was that made Ursula the detestable witch who terrified us when we were children, and although it doesn't justify her actions I can say that I understand her. The level of trauma this woman went through is impressive, and I think anyone would be thirsty for revenge in her place.

Serena fully respected the events of the film, adding new characters and scenes that may well have taken place in the movie, and creating memorable new scenes while keeping the classic ones. It's an ingenious account that stays true to the original material, but with enough magic of its own to shine.

I admit I was lost in some scenes because it is the third book in the saga, but it's still a short book that is read in no time and you enjoy a lot. I felt like a kid once again, wondering what would become of the characters, both old and new, which I feel is important nowadays considering the upsidedown world we're living in.

Poor Unfortunate Soul is a book that makes you dream once again and keeps you trapped at all times with simple, direct language, with the exact dose of humor and mystery. Perfect for today's kids and us adults who grew up with the film.
