Un mundo donde todo se ha perdido. Un niño y una niña solos juntos. Lo único que pueden hacer es seguir adelante. Pero frente a los adultos destrozados y la desesperación devastadora, ¿cuánto tiempo podrán seguir adelante...?

Al principio me pareció que la sinopsis no decía mucho, que dejaba muchos cabos sueltos, pero la realidad es otra. Resulta que explica muy bien de qué va este manga, que es una historia postapocalíptica en donde dos niños tratan de sobrevivir. Sin embargo, lo que no nos dice, es que es una experiencia en la que te sumerges por completo.

El arte es el que se lleva el estrellato en este primer volumen, que además de creativo también es experimental, apostando por un estilo en donde el foco a veces está en el paisaje y a veces en los personajes. Esto hizo que la lectura se mantuviera interesante de principio a fin porque no solo se trataba de saber lo que les pasaba a los personajes si no de sentir también lo que experimentaban.

Sí es cierto que me hubiese gustado más desarrollo en lo que al guión respecta y que no hubiese tanto énfasis en el arte. Hubo un momento en que sentí que la historia no estaba avanzando del todo, aunque lo inmersivo de la lectura se mantuvo en todo momento. Sin embargo, el final le dio un toque de drama bastante efectivo para crear interés en el siguiente volumen.

En pocas palabras, una historia de horror psicológico que te atrapa de principio a fin. El arte combina con el tono oscuro de la historia, dándole una sensación opresiva que juega a favor. Es una historia sencilla, pero con ideas claras, escenas que te impactan, y más de un giro de trama que fue imposible de prever. Definitivamente recomendable para amantes del terror ligero.

After reading my first book by this publisher, I decided to venture with a more experimental, more artistic and visually promising title. A world where everything has been lost. A boy and a girl alone together. All they can do is move forward. But against broken adults and devastating despair, how long will they be able to keep going...?

At first it seemed to me that the synopsis did not say much, that it left many loose ends, but the reality is different. It turns out that it explains very well what this manga is about, which is a post-apocalyptic story where two children try to survive. What it doesn't tell us, however, is that it's an experience in which you are completely immersed.

Art is what takes center stage in this first volume, which in addition to being creative is also experimental, betting on a style where the focus is sometimes on the landscape and sometimes on the characters. This kept the reading interesting from beginning to end because it was not only about knowing what was happening to the characters but also feeling what they experienced.

It is true that I would have liked more development in terms of the script and that there was not so much emphasis on art. There was a moment when I felt that the story was not progressing at all, although the immersion of the reading was maintained at all times. However, the ending gave it a touch of drama quite effective in creating interest in the next volume.

In short, a psychological horror story that grips you from start to finish. The art matches the dark tone of the story, giving it an oppressive feel that works in its favor. It's a simple story, but with clear ideas, scenes that impact you, and more than one plot twist that was impossible to foresee. Definitely recommended for lovers of light horror.

Es una colección bastante diversa en cuanto a estilos artísticos. Hay de todo un poco, y me gustaron prácticamente todos, algo inusual en mí. Desde color a blanco y negro, de estilo americano a manga, realista, fantasioso, abstracto, es un espectro visual que fácilmente se puede comparar al espectro de la identidad de género.

Me encantó que todas y cada una de estas historias se sentían honestas, sin azúcar, sin adornos, sino llenas de realidad. Siempre me ha costado entender un poco las identidades no binarias, pero esta lectura ayudó a tener las ideas más claras. No me dio todas las respuestas, pero fue un excelente punto de inicio.

Sin embargo, sentí que algunas historias eran muy similares, si no en las vivencias, entonces en la ejecución. La lectura no se sintió pesada, pero hubo algunas ocasiones en que sentí que ya había leído esta o aquella experiencia. Evidentemente algunas se van a parecer porque así es la vida, pero siento que no favoreció mucho la lectura.

En general, se trata de un libro hermoso, lleno de colores, mensajes alentadores, moralejas, y esperanza. Tomando en cuenta que hay un ataque constante a las identidades trans y no binarias, es un libro que más allá de entretener también educa, y no hay mejor arma en una sociedad ignorante que la educación. El mejor cumplido que le pueden dar es buscar prohibirlo en las escuelas. Todos sabemos que muchos lo van a leer si eso pasa, y ansío verlo.

It's quite a diverse collection in terms of artistic styles. There's a bit of everything, and I liked practically all of them, something unusual for me. From color to black and white, American style to manga, realistic, fantasy, abstract, it's a visual spectrum that can easily be compared to the spectrum of gender identity.

I loved that each and every one of these stories felt honest, no sugar, no frills, but full of reality. I've always had a bit of a hard time understanding non-binary identities, but this reading helped clear up my ideas. It didn't give me all the answers, but it was a great starting point.

However, I felt that some stories were very similar, if not in the experiences, then in the execution. The reading didn't feel heavy, but there were a few times when I felt like I had already read this or that experience. Obviously some are going to look alike because that's life, but I feel that it didn't favor reading much.

Overall, this is a beautiful book, full of colors, encouraging messages, morals, and hope. Taking into account that there's a constant attack on trans and non-binary identities, it's a book that, beyond entertaining, also educates, and there's no better weapon in an ignorant society than education. The best compliment they can give it is to seek to ban it from schools. We all know that many will read it if that happens, and I look forward to seeing it.

En un pueblo vivían dos chicos: Yoshiki y Hikaru. Los dos hacían todo juntos... hasta el día en que Hikaru fue rodeado por una luz misteriosa. Fue entonces cuando todo cambió, Hikaru sobre todo. Yoshiki todavía desea desde el fondo de su corazón estar siempre a su lado... pero, ¿queda siquiera un Hikaru con quien estar?

No estaba seguro de qué esperar de este manga porque sabía que equilibra tanto el horror como la vida, así que quería ser lo más abierto posible. ¡Resulta que la combinación funcionó de maravilla! Me gustó que no fuera gráfico todo el tiempo, sino que jugara con la sensación de pavor para crear una atmósfera oscura.

Centrándome en cómo Yoshiki se acostumbra a la pérdida de sus amigos y su lento deterioro mental a causa de ello, conociendo a la criatura que ahora está con él, haciéndose pasar por Hikaru, me sentí incómodo al imaginar lo que podría pasarle. Hay algo seductor en cómo las escenas se entrelazan unas con otras, creando una experiencia plena que es casi sensorial.

No hubo suficiente desarrollo o historia de fondo sobre lo que sucedió o cómo Hikaru y Yoshiki se hicieron amigos, aunque al principio hay pistas sobre lo que siente por su amigo. Esto se vuelve más obvio al final, justo cuando realmente quería una respuesta final. Espero más detalles en el próximo volumen, pero hasta ahora el primero funciona bien.

I saw this manga a few months ago and was waiting to read it. There have been so many good reviews, so much hype, that I was anxious, so imagine my reaction when I received a copy. Two boys lived in a village: Yoshiki and Hikaru. The two did everything together...until the day Hikaru was encompassed by a mysterious light. That was when everything changed—Hikaru most of all. Yoshiki still wishes from the bottom of his heart to always stay by his side...but is there even a Hikaru left to be with?

I wasn’t sure about what to expect regarding this manga because I knew it balances both horror and slice of life, so I wanted to be as open as possible. Turns out the combination worked wonderfully! I liked that it wasn’t graphic all the time, but instead played with the sense of dread to create a dark atmosphere.

Focusing on how Yoshiki gets used to the loss of his friends and his slow mental deterioration because of it, getting to know the creature that is now with him, pretending to be Hikaru, I felt uneasy imagining what could happen to him. There’s something seductive about how the scenes intertwine one with the other, creating a full experience that is almost sensorial.

There wasn’t enough development or backstory about what happened or how Hikaru and Yoshiki became friends, although there are hints at the beginning about how he feels about his friend. This becomes more obvious at the end, just when I really wanted a final answer. I’m expecting more details in the next volume, but so far, the first one works nicely.

The Summer Hikaru Died, Vol. 1 is an easy, quick, but intense reading that plays with horror and romance, daily life,and folklore, until the lines between them blur. I would even classify it as Gothic because of its atmospheric experience, how it teases the reader, the feelings of dread, impending doom, and the small but effective doses of graphic horror.

Me alegro de haberlo hecho no solo porque hizo que durara un poco más, sino también porque hizo que la sorpresa de encontrar temas sociales fuera más agradable.

No esperaba ningún tipo de comentario o mensaje social, tal vez algo más ligero, como el poder de la amistad, el valor de la honestidad o cualquier otra cosa por el estilo. Sin embargo, hay un aspecto feminista que me encanta, junto con la representación de las luchas, los sentimientos, y el mundo de los artistas. Rara vez ves algo crudo y sin filtrar que todos puedan disfrutar sin importar la edad.

Lo único que me hubiera gustado sería más antecedentes sobre la casa en sí, cómo creepy cat llegó a vivir en ella, etc. Aparte de eso, es una serie que amo y de la que ya me considero fanático. Con moraleja, arte adorable, metáforas, sorpresas y una alta dosis de humor que a veces puede ser más negro que negro, Creepy Cat es una historia que permanece contigo mucho después de haberla terminado.

I found a safe, fun refugee in this saga. It’s been long since I saw something this dark and creepy, not to mention disturbing at times, that could be read by people of all ages. It includes all the classic elements you’d expect from a Gothic novel, such as an old mansion, strange creatures, supernatural threats, death symbolism, but also an adorable, manga-style art to balance it.

Even though each book can be read in a sitting, I didn’t want to hurry (too much) while discovering Flora’s (mis)adventures, her world, and that strange creature she was forced to adopt as a pet. I’m glad I did it not only because it made it last a little longer but also because it made the surprise of finding social issues more pleasant.

I wasn’t expecting any kind of social commentary or message, maybe something lighter, like the power of friendship, the value of honesty, or anything else along those lines. However, there’s a feminist aspect of it I love, along with the portrayal of artists’ struggles, feelings, and world. Seldom do you see something raw and unfiltered that can be enjoyed by all regardless of age.

The only thing I would have liked was more background on the house itself, how creepy cat came to live in it, and so on. Other than that, it’s a series that I love and consider already a fan of. With morals, adorable art, metaphors, surprises, and a high dose of humor that can be blacker than black at times, Creepy Cat is a story that stays with you long after finishing it.

Volví a salir de mi zona de comodidad. Esta vez, me atreví con una novela en verso que toca el tema de los niños trans. No sabía que esperar, pero la idea me pareció lo suficientemente original como para darle una oportunidad, y terminé sorprendido por lo mucho que me encantó. Literalmente, me costó soltarla para ponerme a hacer otras cosas. Se trata de Dear Mothman, de Robin Gow.

¡Este libro fue hermoso! ¡No solo por los temas, la historia, los personajes, sino también por el estilo! Leí una novela en verso no hace mucho y fue... de calidad cuestionable. ¿Pero esto? Esto es algo sorprendente que muchos deberían leer debido a lo excelente que fue ejecutado. Y sí, estoy emocionado, soy un fanático, y no voy a pedir perdón por ello.

El hecho de que se haya publicado ahora, cuando hay un gran debate aquí en los EE. UU. sobre si los niños saben o no si son trans es aún mejor, especialmente porque está escrito por un autor trans que no se detiene para retratar lo que se siente como un niño trans con sus propias experiencias. Las descripciones son precisas, el estilo es hermoso y el desarrollo es sorprendente.

Diría que la inclusión de dibujos y diferentes puntos de vista hacen que la lectura sea aún más inmersiva, especialmente por la fuente utilizada en diferentes cartas. Ya pueden notar que no veo fallas en este libro, y creo que ustedes tampoco lo harán, porque es una historia que te atrapa desde el principio, te lleva a un viaje salvaje lleno de sorpresas y te deja en un lugar diferente que, por alguna razón, se siente familiar.

Dear Mothman es uno de esos pocos libros que recuperan la inocencia de un niño para mostrarla, devolverla sin condiciones, tan pura y natural que te deja con una sonrisa en la cara cuando llegas a la última página. Es hermoso, dulce, pero también real, lo suficiente como para hacerte pensar dos veces sobre lo que darías por sentado y lo que considerarías "normal" o "natural".

I got out of my comfort zone again. This time, I dared with a novel in verse that touches on the issue of trans children. I didn't know what to expect, but the idea seemed original enough for me to give it a try, and I ended up surprised by how much I loved it. I literally had a hard time stopping to start doing other things. It's Dear Mothman, by Robin Gow.

After Lewis’s death, lonely and yearning for someone who could understand him like Lewis once did, Noah starts writing letters to Mothman, wondering if he would understand how Noah feels and also looking for evidence of Mothman’s existence in the vast woods surrounding his small Poconos town. Noah becomes determined to make his science fair project about Mothman, despite his teachers and parents urging him to make a project about something “real.”

Meanwhile, as Noah tries to find Mothman, he also starts to make friends with a group of girls in his grade, Hanna, Molly, and Alice, with whom he’d been friendly, but never close to. Now, they welcome him, and he starts to open up to each of them, especially Hanna, whom Noah has a crush on. But as strange things start to happen and Noah becomes sure of Mothman’s existence, his parents and teachers don’t believe him. Noah decides it’s up to him to risk everything, trek into the woods, and find Mothman himself.

This book was gorgeous! Not only because of the topics, the story, the characters, but also because of the style! I read a novel in verse not long ago and it was... of questionable quality. But this? This is an amazing thing that many should read because of how excellently it was executed. And yes, I'm hyped, I'm a fanboy, and I'm not gonna say sorry because of it.

The fact that it was published now, when there's such a huge debate here in the US regarding whether or not kids know if they are trans is even better, especially because it's written by a trans author who doesn't hold back to portray what it feels like to be a trans kid with of his own experiences. The descriptions are on point, the style is beautiful, and the development is amazing.

I would say that the inclusion of drawings and different points of view make the reading all the more immersive, especially because of the font used in different letters. You can notice already that I don't see any flaws in this book, and I don't think you will either, because it's a story that grabs you from the beginning, takes you on a wild ride full of surprises, and leaves you in a different place that, for some reason, feels familiar.

Dear Mothman is one of those few books that recover the innocence of being a kid to show it, give it back with no conditions, so pure and natural, that it leaves you with a smile on your face when you reach the final page. It's beautiful, sweet, but also real, enough to make you think twice about what you would take for granted, and what you would consider "normal" or "natural".

Una tendencia "feminista" problemática / A problematic "feminist" trend

Estoy notando una tendencia que me molesta un poco mucho. Cada vez que encuentro un libro interesante, si se trata de una historia calificada como "feminista", resulta ser una trama en donde los hombres son una basura. Casi nunca hay un personaje masculino decente con importancia. Estoy cansado de historias así.

He leído historias con personajes masculinos, femeninos, agéneros, y pare usted de contar. Sin embargo, recientemente estoy viendo que en las historias que se califican de feministas casi siempre los personajes masculinos son despreciados, menospreciados, y mostrados como un problema, el origen de todo lo que está mal en el mundo.

Hubo un libro en particular, un retelling de cenicienta que me moría por leer, pero que fue una decepción por esto mismo. Hay solo un hombre decente en la historia, y la autora lo asesinó después de un par de capítulos. Todos los demás son misóginos detestables que usan a las mujeres como sirvientas, con solo unos pocos que no tienen ni una pizca de orgullo o aprecio por sí mismos. Lo abandoné a la mitad, asqueado y ofendido. Y así me ha pasado varias veces.

¿Por qué las historias "feministas" tiene que poner al hombre a un nivel tan bajo? Porque sí es cierto que los hombres han maltratado, abusado, dañado, y asesinado mujeres simplemente por ser mujeres, y es cierto que sigue pasando, pero también han habido y seguimos habiendo hombres decentes que tratamos a las mujeres con respeto, amabilidad... vamos, como se debe tratar a cualquier persona.

He leído y visto historias con protagonistas femeninas fuertes, independientes, y la she disfrutado muchísimo. Mérida de Valiente, Emma en The Promised Neverland, Constanta y Magdalena en A Dowry of Blood, y muchas más. Estas mujeres conocen su valor y su poder, no necesitan de un hombre ni de nadie para ser soberanas de sus vidas. Son ejemplos de mujeres feministas que me encantan. Hay hombres que caen bajo en algunas de estas historias, pero también los hay honrados.

En pocas palabras, el mensaje que llega es que una mujer feminista, fuerte, independiente, empoderada, y segura de sí misma, debe odiar a los hombres, y que yo como hombre debo cargar con la culpa de crímenes del pasado. Y no me hagan empezar con la película de Barbie (en realidad, se viene otra entrada, jeje). Hay muchos libros que quiero leer, pero no voy a dudar en abandonarlos si promueven el odio a los hombres. Si no leo libros que promuevan el abuso, racismo, machismo, que romanticen las enfermedades mentales, tampoco voy a leer libros que glorifiquen la misandria.

I'm noticing a trend that bothers me a little too much. Every time I find an interesting book, if it's a story labeled as "feminist", it turns out to be a plot where the men are trash. There's hardly ever a decent male character of importance. I'm tired of stories like that.

I have read stories with male, female, agender characters, and stop counting. However, I'm recently seeing that in stories that are described as feminist, male characters are almost always despised, belittled, and shown as a problem, the origin of everything that is wrong in the world.

There was one book in particular, a Cinderella retelling that I was dying to read, but was disappointed for this very reason. There's only one decent man in the story, and the author murdered him after a couple of chapters. All the rest are obnoxious misogynists who use women as servants, with only a few who have not an ounce of pride or appreciation for themselves. I abandoned it halfway, disgusted and offended. And this has happened to me several times.

Why do "feminist" stories have to put men at such a low level? Because it's true that men have mistreated, abused, harmed, and murdered women simply for being women, and it's true that it's still happening, but there have also been and continue to be decent men who treat women with respect, kindness... come on, as anyone should be treated.

I've read and watched stories with strong, independent female leads, and I've thoroughly enjoyed them. Merida from Brave, Emma from The Promised Neverland, Constanta and Magdalena from A Dowry of Blood, and many more. These women know their worth and their power, they don't need a man or anyone to be sovereigns of their lives. They are the examples of feminist women that I love. There are men who fall low in some of these stories, but there are also honest ones.

In a nutshell, the message that comes through is that a strong, independent, empowered, and self-assured "feminist" woman should hate men, and that I as a man should take the blame for past crimes. And don't get me started on the Barbie movie (actually, another entry coming up, hehe). There are many books that I want to read, but I won't hesitate to abandon them if they promote hatred of men. If I don't read books that promote abuse, racism, machismo, that romanticize mental illness, I'm not going to read books that glorify misandry either.

Reseña / Review: Entrégate al Océano

Esta es una reseña que me emociona hacer. Hace poco gané un concurso organizado por una autora a la que respeto muchísimo por lo organizada, creativa, y prolífica que es. Además, es una autora latina, y tenía mucho tiempo sin leer a alguien de latinoamérica. Se trata de Entrégate al océano, por Nathalia Tórtora.

Cuando Lirio es atrapada como polizón en la bodega de un navío, está segura de que será asesinada y arrojada al océano; después de todo, las mujeres tienen prohibido subir a bordo de cualquier clase de embarcación. Sin embargo, antes de que el capitán pueda arrebatarle la vida, una extraña melodía comienza a sonar alrededor del barco. Llega desde todos lados y desde ninguno al mismo tiempo... o, quizá, proviene de las profundidades.

La historia es bastante original. Nunca había leído algo con piratas, así que esta fue una buena bienvenida al tema por lo fácil de seguir que fue. Si están en la misma situación que yo, es un libro perfecto para dar esos primeros pasos y entrar en confianza.

Nath tiene un estilo sencillo pero descriptivo que te ayuda a imaginar todo. El ritmo tiene sus subibajas dependiendo de lo que necesite la historia. Su estilo también se adapta, desde literal a poético, de ligero a gráfico, y lo hace con una elegancia envidiable. Más de una vez me quedé embobado leyendo sus descripciones y algunos diálogos.

Se supone que la colección es de historias cortas, así que no diré nada sobre ello. Sin embargo, sí hubiera preferido ver alguna representación masculina positiva en la historia. El final da algunos toques que me dejaron más conforme, pero no es lo mismo. Se trata de una tendencia de la que hablaré más adelante, pero que está bien usada aquí.

Entrégate al océano es una historia de fantasía social feminista que reinventa las supersticiones de siglos pasados para crear una trama atrapante que no te suelta hasta terminar de leer. Es una historia simple difícil de olvidar por su prosa, sus imágenes, y su mensaje. ¡No puedo esperar a leer algo más de Nathi!

This is a review I'm excited about. I recently won a giveaway organized by an author who I respect so much for how organized, creative, and prolific she is. Also, she is a Latina author, and I hadn't read someone from Latin America in a long time. It's Entrégate al océano (Surrender to the ocean), by Nathalia Tórtora.

When Lirio is trapped as a stowaway in the hold of a ship, she is certain that she will be killed and thrown into the ocean; after all, women are prohibited from boarding any kind of vessel. However, before the captain can take his life, a strange tune begins to play around the ship. It comes from everywhere and nowhere at the same time... or, perhaps, it comes from the depths.

The story is quite original. I had never read anything with pirates, so this was a nice welcome to the topic because of how easy it was to follow. If you are in the same situation as me, it is a perfect book to take those first steps and gain confidence.

Nath has a simple but descriptive style that helps you imagine everything. The pace has its ups and downs depending on what the story needs. Her style also adapts, from literal to poetic, from light to graphic, and she does it with enviable elegance. More than once I was stunned reading her descriptions and some dialogues.

The collection is supposed to be short stories, so I won't say anything about it. However, I would have preferred to see some positive male representation in the story. The ending gives some touches that left me more satisfied, but it's not the same. It's a trend that I will talk about later, but that is well used here.

Entrégate al océano is a feminist social fantasy story that reinvents the superstitions of centuries past to create a compelling plot that won't let you go until you finish reading. It's a simple story that is hard to forget because of its prose, its images, and its message. I can't wait to read more from Nathi!

Ha pasado un buen rato desde que reseñé algo, y quiero ponerme al día. Quería empezar con una duología de manga que me gustó bastante y que me hizo sonreír bastante mientras ponía mi vida en orden. Se trata de My Coworker Has a Secret! Volume 2. ¡Gracias a la editorial por enviarme una copia a cambio de una reseña honesta!

Akari es una oficinista promedio de 25 años que guarda un secreto que oculta a sus colegas; ella es una gran otaku, ¡hasta el punto de que su obsesión la está arruinando financieramente! Cuando una paloma le roba el almuerzo, un extraño amable y atractivo ofrece su bento casero en su lugar, y después de aceptar amablemente, Akari le dice la razón por la que está tan desamparada. Por supuesto, ella asumió que nunca lo volvería a ver... ¡pero él es el nuevo empleado en la compañía donde ella trabaja! ¿Mantendrá su secreto? ¿Y aprenderá más sobre este hombre de buen corazón?

El tono de este volumen es más maduro que el anterior, aunque sin perder su toque cómico. El hecho de que los personajes salen de sus zonas de comodidad, que hay más desarrollo, y que las cosas finalmente se empiezan a mover entre Akari y Ritsu, son todos buenos puntos. Sigue siendo un manga que te saca sonrisas, sigue siendo una historia adorable y cómica, pero hay un toque más adulto, más serio, en todo lo que sucede.

Yo diría que en parte es porque los personajes salen de sus zonas de comodidad, se atreven a hacer cosas diferentes, a compartir sus lados más vulnerables, y hay escenas que te dejan sorprendido por eso mismo. El contraste que se crea es bastante atractivo, juega a favor de la historia, al punto de sumergirte por completo por casi toda la lectura.

Sí me hubiese gustado más ver más de esos lados adultos, los personajes más desarrollados, más cómodos rompiendo sus propios clichés, pero me quedé con las ganas. Aunque no significa que la historia sea mala, sí hubiese quedado mejor con un desarrollo más completo que se alejara un poco de la comedia en algunas escenas.

En general, es un manga fácil de disfrutar, que te hace sonreír, volver a esa inocencia de hace algunos años, y volver a soñar despierto. My Coworker Has a Secret! Volume 2 le dio un buen descanso a mi cabeza cuando lo necesitaba. Solo por eso me encantaría ver más trabajos por parte de Mushiro.

It's been a while since I've reviewed anything, and I want to catch up. I wanted to start with a manga duology that I quite liked and made me smile quite a bit as I put my life in order. Akari is an average 25-year-old office worker who harbors a secret she hides from her colleagues; she's a huge otaku, to the point that her obsession is ruining her financially! When her lunch is stolen by a pigeon, a kind, attractive stranger offers his homemade bento in its place, and after graciously accepting, Akari tells him the reason she's so destitute. Of course, she assumed she'd never see him again... but he's the newest hire at the company where she works! Will he keep her secret? And will she learn more about this kind-hearted man?

The tone of this volume is more mature than the previous one, although without losing its comic touch. The fact that the characters are getting out of their comfort zones, that there's more development, and that things are finally starting to move between Akari and Ritsu, are all good points. It's still a manga that makes you smile, it's still an adorable and funny story, but there's a more adult, more serious touch to everything that happens.

I would say that it is partly because the characters step out of their comfort zones, they dare to do different things, to share their most vulnerable sides, and there are scenes that leave you surprised by that. The contrast that's created is quite attractive, it plays in favor of the story, to the point of completely immersing yourself in almost the entire reading.

I would have liked to see more of those adult sides, the more developed characters, more comfortable breaking their own clichés, but I was left with the desire. Although it doesn't mean that the story is bad, it would have been better with a more complete development that strayed a bit from comedy in some scenes.

In general, it is an easy manga to enjoy, that makes you smile, return to that innocence of a few years ago, and daydream again. My Coworker Has a Secret! Volume 2 gave my head a nice rest when I needed it. For that alone I would love to see more work from Mushiro.

Hace día me encontré con una noticia en el mundo literario que me dejó boquiabierto. La próxima novela de Sarah J. Maas, House of Flame and Shadow, tendrá 5 ediciones diferentes, cada una con un capítulo exclusivo diferente.

¿Por qué es un problema? Porque los lectores queremos disfrutar toda la historia, y si quisiéramos hacer lo mismo con este libro, habría que comprarlo 5 veces. Si tomamos como referencia el precio en Amazon, tenemos esto: $22.40 x 5 veces = $112.

Más de $100 para leer la historia completa.

Y eso no es todo. Las cinco ediciones están disponibles para Estados Unidos, pero los lectores de Canadá y del Reino Unido solo tendrán una cada uno. Los lectores de esos países tendrán que pagar envíos internacionales por cuatro libros si quieren leer todo.

Es una falta de respeto inmenso a los lectores, una estrategia baja que solo apunta a las ventas y desangrar el bolsillo de los lectores. Los comentarios en la publicación original son invaluables precisamente por eso, porque los lectores están furiosos. Y si en algún momento quise leer a esta mujer, esto me hizo decidir que no, definitivamente no.

Lo bueno es que aprendí de ello, porque yo hice lo mismo hace tres años cuando saqué Alterno Nerva. Creí que sería una buena idea tener una edición exclusiva en Amazon, una para ebook, y una en Wattpad, que solo la versión física tuviera el contenido completo, pero me di cuenta de que no es justo, ético, ni decente. Así que ayer publiqué los capítulos adicionales en Wattpad y los incluí en las demás versiones.

Porque si ser un best-seller significa faltarles el respeto a tus lectores de esta manera, no quiero serlo.

A day ago I came across a piece of news in the literary world that left me speechless. Sarah J. Maas's upcoming novel, House of Flame and Shadow, will have 5 different editions, each with a different exclusive chapter.

Why is it a problem? Because we readers want to enjoy the whole story, and if we wanted to do the same with this book, we would have to buy it 5 times. If we take the price on Amazon as a reference, we have this: $22.40 x 5 times = $112.

Over $100 to read the full story.

And that's not all. All five editions are available for the United States, but readers in Canada and the UK will only have one each. Readers in those countries will have to pay international shipping for four books if they want to read the whole thing.

It's an immense lack of respect for readers, a low strategy that only aims at sales and bleeding the pockets of readers. The comments on the original post are invaluable for precisely that reason, because readers are furious. And if at any point I wanted to read this woman, this made me decide no, definitely not.

The good thing is that I learned from it, because I did the same thing three years ago when I released Alterno Nerva. I thought it would be a good idea to have an exclusive edition on Amazon, one for ebooks, and one on Wattpad, that only the print version would have the full content, but I realized that it's not fair, ethical, or decent. So yesterday I posted the additional chapters on Wattpad and included them in the other versions.

Because if being a bestseller means disrespecting your readers like this, I don't want to be one.
