Have a back-up! / ¡Ten un respaldo!

Hello guys! How have you been?

You may have noted that the blog looks way much different than before, that the headers I use for the entries are others. I know it’s nothing that important, but it happened because of a big event: I lost almost all my files.

My computer, as it has been happening once a year, crashed, completely, big time, and I thought we lost it for real this time. However, I was lucky that I had my text files saved in a cloud, safe from any software trash.

The problem? I do lost images, original photographs I had, Photoshop models, music to write... And some books needed to be updated in the cloud.

What is it I want to tell you with this? We’re in the 21st Century, for heaven’s sake, don’t save anything in your computers. I mean, NOTHING should be in there, only temporal, minor files, and if it is important, for real, then save it on a cloud. No excuses.
Think of how you'll feel with a back-up, with no worries and no headaches trying to recover your files. Many of us can beleive this is non-sense, as I used to do, but think about it and you'll see more pros than cons.

I am done with loosing all of my files, all of my books, timelines, characters’ profiles, ideas… If I’m working on them, they are in the cloud, and if I want to keep them near with me, then they go to a memo pad I’ve since I started in college or a notebook I did as a diary-agenda-art-project-thing. That’s it.

Think of how you'll feel with a back-up, with no worries and no headahes trying to recover your files and many of us think this is non-sense, as I used to do, but think about it and you'll see more pros than cons.
To keep my back-up safe, I won’t say which server I use, but be sure that I will never lose anything any time soon, or not in terms of books and book-related, to be honest, and it’s a big relief!

¡Hola muchachos! ¿Cómo han estado?

Podrán haber notado que el blog se ve mucho diferente que antes, que los encabezados que utilizo para las entradas son otros. Sé que no es nada tan importante, pero sucedió por un gran evento: perdí casi todos mis archivos.

Mi computadora, como ha estado sucediendo una vez al año, explotó, completamente, a lo grande, y pensé que la perdimos de verdad esta vez. Sin embargo, tuve la suerte de tener mis archivos de texto guardados en una nube, a salvo de cualquier basura de software.

¿El problema? Sí perdí imágenes, fotografías originales que tenía, modelos de Photoshop, música para escribir... Y algunos libros necesitaban ser actualizados en la nube.

¿Qué es lo que quiero decirte con esto? Estamos en el siglo XXI, por el amor de Dios, no guarden nada en sus computadoras. Quiero decir, NADA debe estar allí, sólo archivos menores, temporales, y si es importante, de verdad, entonces guárdenlo en una nube. No hay excusas.
Piensen en cómo se sentirán con un respaldo, sin preocupaciones y sin dolores de cabeza tratando de recuperar sus archivos, y muchos de nosotros podemos creer que esto no tiene sentido, como yo solía hacer, pero piénsenlo y verán más pros que contras.
Estoy cansado de perder todos mis archivos, todos mis libros, líneas de tiempo, perfiles de personajes, ideas... Si estoy trabajando en ellos, están en la nube, y si quiero mantenerlos cerca conmigo, entonces van en un bloc de notas que tengo desde que empecé en la universidad o un cuaderno que hice como diario-agenda-proyecto-arte-cosa. Nada más.

Para mantener mi respaldo seguro, no voy a decir qué servidor utilizo, pero pueden estar seguros de que nunca perderé nada en ningún futuro cercano, o no en términos de libros, para ser honesto, ¡y es un gran alivio!
