Cuando leí la sinopsis de Little Darlings, de Melanie Golding, me intrigó muchísimo y quise saber inmediatamente de qué se trataba. Aunque al principio me costó un poco por lo visceral y gráfico de la narración, luego de un par de capítulos estaba devorando esta novela como si no hubiese un mañana.

Lauren Tranter acaba de dar a luz por primera vez, y a gemelos. No ha dormido bien en muchos días y el parto la ha dejado agotada, pero está segura de lo que vio en el hospital. Una mujer andrajosa quiso intercambiar uno de sus gemelos por los de Lauren, y le prometió que ni ella ni nadie notaría la diferencia, y luego intentó secuestrar a ambos. Luego de salir del hospital, la madre no quiere dejar solos a sus hijos, segura de que la misma mujer la está siguiente. ¿El problema? Solo ella la ha visto, y todos piensan que está o cansada o demente.
Little Darlings combina lo oscuro de los cuentos de hadas originales con la adrenalina de los thrillers psicológicos. La pluma de Melanie Golding hace que esta novela se lea en menos tiempo del que se espera, y uno como lector se queda esperando más y más, capítulo tras capítulo, hasta alcanzar un final inesperado pero que llena todas las expectativas.
La autora combina una increíble cantidad de detalles digna de un reporte periodístico con la prosa poética de una novela literaria. El resultado es un libro perfecto de principio a fin, lleno de referencias a los miedos infantiles que pueden acompañarnos a la adultez.
esto en cuenta, no me sorprende saber que se está preparando una película basada en Little Darlings. Su trama es atrapante, los personajes son demasiado reales, y la dosis de fantasía gótica es perturbadoramente adictiva. ¡No puedo esperar a leer el próximo libro de esta mujer!
When I read the synopsis of Little Darlings, by Melanie Golding, it intrigued me a lot and I wanted to know immediately what it was about. Although at the beginning it cost me a bit because of the visceral and graphic narrative, after a couple of chapters I was devouring this novel as if there was not a tomorrow.
Lauren Tranter has just given birth for the first time, and twins. She hasn't slept well in many days and the delivery has left her exhausted, but she's sure of what she saw in the hospital. A ragged woman wanted to exchange one of her twins for Lauren's, and promised her that neither she nor anyone else would notice the difference, and then tried to kidnap them both. After leaving the hospital, the mother doesn't want to leave her children alone, sure that the same woman is near. The problem? Only she has seen her, and everyone thinks she's either tired or insane.
Little Darlings combines the darkness of original fairy tales with the adrenaline of psychological thrillers. Melanie Golding's pen makes this novel read in less time than expected, and one as a reader is waiting more and more, chapter after chapter, until reaching an unexpected end but that fills all expectations.
The author combines an incredible amount of details worthy of a journalistic report with the poetic prose of a literary novel. The result is a perfect book from beginning to end, full of references to childhood fears that can accompany us to adulthood.
With this in mind, it doesn't surprise me to know that a film based on Little Darlings is being prepared. Their plot's compelling, the characters are too real, and the dose of Gothic fantasy is disturbingly addictive. I cannot wait to read this woman's next book!
