Buenas buenas, gente bonita. Espero que estén de humor para una lectura un tanto inusual. Luego de tanto horror, quise equilibrar un poco con una historia más dulce, más romántica, y sin nada de tripas y sangre. Estoy hablando de la enternecedora What If I Said, "I Love You"? 1, por Kumosoku. ¡Gracias a la editorial por enviarme una copia para reseñar!

Una serie BL pura de amigos y amantes de la infancia con ilustraciones detalladas, lindas y dinámicas, perfecta para los fanáticos de Love on the Horizon, My Summer of You y Sasaki y Miyano.

Cuando eran niños, Kazuho y Tokio eran lo suficientemente cercanos como para llevarse a cuestas el uno al otro. Pero ahora, en la escuela secundaria, se ha abierto un abismo entre ellos, un abismo que los separa cada vez más. Es una distancia que Kazuho mantiene a propósito, para evitar revelar los nuevos sentimientos por Tokio que han estado creciendo en su corazón. Pero un día, Kazuho se queda dormido en clase, esos sentimientos se derraman, y todo es culpa de Tokio…

¡Esta fue una historia preciosa! Tan realista como enternecedora, Kazuho y Tokio se ganan el corazón del lector en poco tiempo por lo genuina que es su química. No es una historia en donde pase nada innovador o trascendental más allá de recuperar el encanto de la vida diaria. En un mundo donde muchas tramas se vuelven super complicadas, que Kumosoku base el encanto de esta en lo sencillo es un éxito para mí.

El arte es igual de atractivo porque combina con el tono de la historia en todo momento. Aunque no es un estilo limpio, le añade ese toque realista que llevó la lectura a otro nivel. What If I Said, "I Love You"? 1 se volvió lo suficientemente atmosférico como para hacerme olvidar de las responsabilidades del día a día para hacerme soñar despierto con el mismísimo día a día. ¿Idealista por momentos? Puede que un poco. Pero efectivo de todas formas.

Sí me hubiese gustado que fuese un poco más pausado, eso sí. Hubo momentos que se sintieron innecesariamente apresurados, como si Kumosoku quisiera llegar a escenas más emocionantes de dibujar. Lo entiendo por completo, me pasa muy seguido, y aunque puedo hacerme la vista gorda por (aparentemente) ser su primer trabajo, no niego que el efecto podría haber sido mejor.

Sin embargo, se disfruta muchísimo. What If I Said, "I Love You"? 1 es una historia para soñar despierto por su inocencia y su pureza, sus personajes tan humanos, sus inseguridades, sus anhelos, y la forma en que todo se desarolla. Voy a esperar con ansias los siguientes volúmenes para saber cómo sigue todo ente los personajes, y les recomiendo hacer lo mismo.

Hello hello, beautiful people. I hope you're in the mood for a somewhat unusual read. After so much horror, I wanted to balance it a little with a sweeter, more romantic story, and without any guts and blood. I'm talking about the heartwarming What If I Said, "I Love You"? 1, by Kumosoku. Thanks to the publisher for sending me a review copy!

A pure childhood friends-to-lovers BL series with detailed, cute, and dynamic artwork, perfect for fans of Love on the Horizon, My Summer of You, and Sasaki and Miyano.

As kids, Kazuho and Tokio were close enough to give each other piggyback rides. But now, in high school, a gulf has opened between them—one that’s carrying them further and further apart. It’s a distance Kazuho is keeping on purpose, to keep from revealing the new feelings for Tokio that have been growing in his heart. But one day, Kazuho falls asleep in class, those feelings come spilling out—and it’s all Tokio’s fault…

This was a beautiful story! As realistic as it is touching, Kazuho and Tokyo win the reader's heart in a short time because of how genuine their chemistry is. It is not a story where anything innovative or transcendental happens beyond recovering the charm of daily life. In a world where many plots become super complicated, the fact that Kumosoku bases its charm on simplicity is a success for me.

The art is just as appealing because it matches the tone of the story throughout. Although it is not a clean style, it adds that realistic touch that took reading to another level. What If I Said, "I Love You"? 1 became atmospheric enough to make me forget about day-to-day responsibilities to make me daydream about day-to-day life itself. Idealistic at times? Maybe a little. But still effective.

Yes, I would have liked it to be a little slower, yes. There were moments that felt unnecessarily rushed, as if Kumosoku wanted to get to more exciting scenes to draw. I completely understand, it happens to me very often, and although I can turn a blind eye to it because (apparently) it is their first job, I don't deny that the effect could have been better.

However, it is very enjoyable. What If I Said, "I Love You"? 1 is a story to daydream about because of its innocence and its purity, its very human characters, their insecurities, their desires, and the way in which everything develops. I'm going to look forward to the next volumes to see how everything goes between the characters, and I recommend you do the same.
