Buen día, gente bonita. Hace poco terminé una novela gráfica que me tiene enamorado de lo adorable que es y por la construcción del mundo tan facinante que tiene. Demás está decir que me encanta el arte y el guión, o que ahora estoy leyendo directamente el webcómic como tal mientras salen el resto de los volúmenes. Se trata de Castle Swimmer, Vol. 2, por Wendy Martin. ¡Gracias a la editorial por enviarme una copia para reseñar!

Este volumen sigue justo donde quedó el anterior, tal y como me esperaba viniendo de un webcómic, cosa que me encanta. Vemos a los personajes madurar mucho más esta vez y cómo algunos de ellos son más complejos de lo que creíamos. Obvio que Kappa y Siren son mis favoritos, pero la reina Susca y Skiff se ganan el cariño también.

Hay también un avance en el arte junto con la maquetación. Me encantan las miradas tras bastidores y sobre los procesos técnicos, por lo que la nota al final por Jem Milton fue un buen adicional. Estamos hablando de un cambio de formato total, pero Jem se encargó de que todo se mantuviera coherente, fluído, y perfecto.

Sentí que algunos diálogos eran repetitivos, pero no me molestó tanto como para afectar la lectura en general. Es de esos libros que se leen en una sentada, no solo porque sea una novela gráfica, sino tambien porque es un estilo ligero. Si bien es cierto que es una historia juvenil, también toca temas fuertes que lo hacen buenísimo para lectores adultos.

Castle Swimmer, Vol. 2 es ya una de mis lecturas favoritas del año. Con una trama cuidado, un ritmo que te engancha, personajes adorables, y un diseño que es un deliete para los ojos, no veo cómo alguien pudiera no disfrutar de este libro. Más de uno debería anotar la fecha de lanzamiento para pedir su ejemplar, además de que hay un capítulo adicional, arte, y notas exclusivas de esta edición que me encantan. ¡Muy recomendado!

Needless to say, I love the art and the script, that I am now directly reading the webcomic itself while the rest of the volumes are coming out. This volume picks up right where the last one left off, just as I expected coming from a webcomic, which I love. We see the characters mature a lot more this time around and how some of them are more complex than we thought. Obviously Kappa and Siren are my favorites, but Queen Susca and Skiff earn our love as well.

There's also an advancement in the art along with the layout. I love the behind-the-scenes looks at the technical processes, so the note at the end by Jem Milton was a nice bonus. We're talking about a total format change, but Jem made sure everything stayed coherent, fluid, and perfect.

I felt that some dialogue was repetitive, but it didn't bother me enough to affect the overall reading. It's one of those books that you read in one sitting, not only because it's a graphic novel, but also because it's a light style. While it's true that it's a young adult story, it also touches on strong themes that make it great for adult readers.

Castle Swimmer, Vol. 2 is already one of my favorite reads of the year. With a well-crafted plot, engaging pacing, adorable characters, and artwork that's a delight to the eyes, I don't see how anyone could not enjoy this book. More than one person should note the release date to order their copy, plus there's an extra chapter, art, and exclusive notes to this edition that I love. Highly recommended!
