Recapitulando el 2020 / Reviewing 2020

Buenos días, Nocturnos. Al fin, el último día de este año tan caótico. Fue fácil dejarse llevar por el pánico y los problemas, pero haciendo un repaso uno se da cuenta de que no fue (tan) pésimo. ^^' Desde hace tiempo me gusta hacer esto, y los invito a que también lo hagan por sus redes o en su blog.

Tenía muchos planes para este año, puntualmente leer varias sagas (de las cuales solo llegué a leer la mitad de The Sandman), escribir seis libros, de los cuales hablaré más adelante, y terminar mi maestría, lo cual sí logré y con creces. ^^ Evidentemente no podía hacer todo con lo caótico que fue este 2020, y el 2021 promete ser difícil también, pero sigo con las esperanzas presentes.

Puntualmente, pude publicar Rojo Carmín, les presenté a mi elenco soñado para esta novela, su banda sonora, y a sus tres villanos, Jeffrey Dahmer, Isabel Bathory, y Jack el Destripador. Igual que pasó cuando empecé esta historia en Wattpad, empecé Lluvia de Plata, pero quedó inconclusa, así que ya tengo la primera meta para el 2021.

Hablando de Wattpad, ¡Reflejos fue destacada en fantasía! No me cansaré de recordarlo, mucho menos porque es el perfil oficial de Fantasía en Español en la plataforma naranja y porque le tengo mucho cariño a esta historia, igual que a Alterno Nerva, que también publiqué primero en Wattpad, también pasé por el elenco de esta novela, e incluso entrevisté a Edgar, el protagonista, pero me faltó la entrevista a Sylvia. Puse mucho de mí en ella, así que no tuve ni que pensarlo cuando tuve la oportunidad de publicar libros en físico.

Aún con Wattpad, quice llevar dos proyectos, Ars Viatoris, de fantasía, y Criptam, de fantasía oscura, el cual fue premiado tres veces. Surgieron más planes en el camino, de los cuales solo se ha materializado un libro súper importante para mí, Cuentos de Hadas para no Dormir, también conocido como Proyecto Unseelie, y lo estoy traduciendo al inglés. Ledén sigue en pausa, aunque me ha puesto a pensar a medida que escribo.

Finalmente, fue un año de MUCHAS lecturas, 216 para ser exactos. Aunque amo este número y estoy orgulloso, ya no siento deseos de reseñar tan seguido, sino de dedicarme a mis historias, mis personajes, y mis ideas en general. Seguiré leyendo, pero quiero bajar drásticamente para mantenerme enfocado en mis libros.

Muchísimas gracias a todos los que han sido parte de este año, los que me han apoyado en las redes sociales, han leído mi trabajo, y me han acompañado en general. 2020 fue un año de mucho cambios, se me abrieron muchas puertas, se cerraron otras, y algunas están en pausa, esperando el momento ideal para decidir. Confío en que el 2021 será mucho mejor, lleno de historias, proyectos y nuevas aveturas. ¡Gracias por hacer que esta distopía fuera más entretenida! Nos leemos pronto.

Good morning, Nighters. Finally, the last day of this chaotic year. It was easy to get carried away by panic and problems, but on review, you realize that it was not (that) bad. ^^' I have liked doing this for a long time, and I invite you to also do it through your social media or on your blog.

I had many plans for this year, especially to read several sagas (of which I only got to read half of The Sandman), to write six books, of which I will talk about later, and to finish my master's degree, which I did manage to do and with honors. ^^ Obviously I couldn't do everything with how chaotic this 2020 was, and 2021 promises to be difficult too, but I still have hopes present.

Promptly, I was able to publish Rojo Carmín (Carmine Red), I introduced you to my dream cast for this novel, its soundtrack, and its three villains, Jeffrey Dahmer, Isabel Bathory, and Jack the Ripper. Just like when I started this story on Wattpad, I started Lluvia de Plata (Silver Rain), but it was unfinished, so I already have the first goal for 2021.

Speaking of Wattpad, Reflejos was featured in FantasíaES! I won't get tired of remembering it, much less because it's the official profile of Fantasía en Español on the orange platform and because I have a lot of love for this story, just like Alterno Nerva, which I also published first on Wattpad, I also went through this novel's cast, and I even interviewed Edgar, the protagonist, but I missed the interview with Sylvia. I put a lot of myself in it, so I didn't even have to think about it when I had the opportunity to publish print books.

Still with Wattpad, I wanted to run two projects, Ars Viatoris, of fantasy, and Criptam, of dark fantasy, which was awarded three times. More plans arose along the way, of which only one super important book for me, Cuentos de Hadas para no Dormir (Fairy Tales not to Sleep), aka Proyecto Unseelie, has materialized and I'm translating it into English. Ledén is still on pause, although it has made me think as I write it.

Finally, it was a year with LOTS of reading, 216 to be exact. Although I love this number and am proud, I no longer want to review so often, but to dedicate myself to my stories, my characters, and my ideas in general. I'll keep reading, but I want to go down drastically to stay focused on my books.

¡Ganador Triple en Wattpad! / Triple Winner in Wattpad!

¡Buenos días, Nocturnos! Espero que estén bien. ^^ He estado recibiendo muy buenas noticias estos días, y quería compartirlas con ustedes una vez que tuviera las pruebas, ¡así que henos aquí! ¡Mi antología de fantasía oscura bilingüe, Criptam, recibió tres reconocimietos en Wattpad! ^^ Muchas gracias a los perfiles de Fantasy, Horror, y WattpadRiverdale por seleccionarme entre los ganadores, y a la Alanna B.A por crear el Halloween Vault 3D.

A lo largo de Octubre, mientras editada Cuentos de Hadas para no Dormir (el cual, por cierto, estoy traduciendo a inglés), intenté publicar un cuento corto diario durante todo el mes como parte del Halloween Vault 3D, una iniciativa organizada por varios perfiles en Wattpad. Solo conseguí 12 historias, todas en español e inglés, pero estoy super satisfecho con el resultado.

Cada día consistía en una idea distinta, y muchas, casi todas, me sacaron de mi zona de comfort. Tuve que ingeniármelas para poder dar con historias que me gustaran, que me llamaran la atención, y que evidentemente disfrutara de escribir. Quise ponerme el reto de hacerlas en ambos idiomas, y dar con una canción para cada una, precisamente porque quería aventurarme, y hoy puedo decir que esos tres premios fueron por mis favoritas.

Good morning, Nocturnos! I hope they are well. ^^ I've been getting some really good news these days, and I wanted to share it with you once I had the proofs, so here we are! My bilingual dark fantasy anthology, Criptam, received three recognitions on Wattpad! ^^ Many thanks to Fantasy, Horror, and WattpadRiverdale for selecting me among the winners, and Alanna B.A for creating the Halloween Vault 3D.

Throughout October, while editing Cuentos de Hadas Para no Dormir (Fairy Tales not to Sleep; which, by the way, I'm translating into English), I tried to publish a daily short story throughout the month as part of Halloween Vault 3D, an initiative organized by various profiles on Wattpad. I only got 12 stories, all in Spanish and English, but I'm super satisfied with the result.

Each day consisted of a different idea, and many, almost all, took me out of my comfort zone. I had to figure out how to find stories that I liked, that caught my attention, and that obviously enjoyed writing. I wanted to challenge myself to do them in both languages, and find a song for each one, precisely because I wanted to venture out, and today I can say that those three awards were for my favorites.

Igual que siempre, esta es mi reseña honesta.

¿Puede un goblin aprender magia oscura?

Gmok Witchmauler desea ser un mago. Pero los goblins son demasiado estúpidos para ser hechiceros. ¿O no?

"Por el amor de Dios", gimió el viejo goblin. "¿Realmente voy a morir así?" Gmok estaba irremediablemente atrapado dentro de la oscuridad sofocante de su propia caja fuerte de plata goblin  La caja de seguridad hermética era una tumba en miniatura hecha de un metal mágico raro y casi indestructible. Black Annis, esa hermosa y traicionera bruja, había hechizado a Gmok y le había ordenado que entrara en la caja fuerte. También le había robado los ahorros de toda su vida y luego lo había dejado solo para asfixiarse y pudrirse. Una fortuna en joyas exóticas y encantadas le había sido arrebatada tan fácilmente al goblin y ni siquiera se opuso. ¿Cómo podría? Su mente débil y tonta había sido manipulada por su poderosa hechicería. Si tan solo fuera un mago, entonces tal vez podría haber resistido el hechizo de la bruja.

Esta es una breve historia del origen del duende Gmok Witchmauler que explora los eventos de su oscuro pasado que tuvieron lugar hace más de 50 años.

En realidad es un relato muy corto, pero me gustó tanto que quería escribir aunque fuese dos líneas al respecto. La sociedad que crea Aubrey Law cobra vida en esta narración dolorosa sobre la desigualdad social, el racismo, y yo diría que incluso la religión, pero sin perder el foco: Una buena dosis de magia, de drama, y de criaturas mitológicas.

Aunque bastante corto, se te hace fácil sentirte en la piel de Gmok, en sus frustraciones y sus preocupaciones, así como sus miedos y aspiraciones. Creo que todos nos hemos sentido como un goblin esclavizado (me encanta cómo suena eso, por cierto) y precisamente por eso disfruté tanto de esta historia, porque toca teclas sensibles.

En el lado no tan positivo, volvemos a lo que comentaba en la reseña para el primer libro de esta saga derivada, Werebear Skye: Blood Hunt, hubiese preferido más desarrollo en las emociones del goblin, y siento que ese toque romanticón no tenía mucho sentido, principalmente porque llegó casi al final y no sabemos cómo terminó todo. Admiro que la autora tomara riesgos, pero sé que es capaz de hacerlo mejor.

The Goblin Necromancer es una historia muy entretenida y breve, perfecta para pasar un buen rato y descubrir otra faceta del mundo oscuro de Aubrey Law. Con un estilo directo y que diferencia a Gmok de las demás protagonistas de esta saga, el goblin se gana la simpatía de más de uno, aunque luego es fácil detestarlo.

Can a Goblin learn Dark Magic?

Gmok Witchmauler wishes to be a mage. But goblins are too stupid to be sorcerers. Or are they?

"For f*ck's sake," groaned the old goblin. "Am I really going to die like this?" Gmok was hopelessly trapped inside the smothering darkness of his own Goblin Silver safe. The airtight lock-box was a miniature tomb made of the nearly indestructible and rare magical metal. Black Annis, that beautiful little treacherous witch, had spellbound Gmok and commanded him to climb inside the safe. She'd also robbed him of his entire life savings then she’d left him alone to suffocate and rot. A fortune in exotic and enchanted jewelry had been so easily taken from the goblin and he’d never even put up a fight. How could he? His weak and foolish mind had been manipulated by her powerful sorcery. If only he were a mage himself then maybe he could've resisted the witch's spell.

This is a short origin story of the goblin Gmok Witchmauler exploring events of his dark past that took place over 50 years ago.

It's actually a very short story, but I liked it so much that I wanted to write even two lines about it. The society that Aubrey Law creates comes to life in this painful narrative about social inequality, racism, and I would say even religion, but without losing focus: A good dose of magic, drama, and mythological creatures.

Although quite short, it is easy for you to feel yourself in Gmok's shoes, in his frustrations and concerns, as well as his fears and aspirations. I think we've all felt like an enslaved goblin (I love how that sounds, by the way) and that's precisely why I enjoyed this story so much because it plays sensitive keys.

On the not so positive side, we go back to what I commented in the review for the first book of this spinoff saga, Werebear Skye: Blood Hunt, I would have preferred more development on the goblin's emotions, and I feel that that romantic touch did not make much sense, mainly because it came almost in the end and we don't know how it all ended. I admire that the author took risks, but I know that she is capable of doing better.

The Goblin Necromancer is a very entertaining and short story, perfect for having a good time and discovering another facet of the dark world of Aubrey Law. With a direct style that differentiates Gmok from the other protagonists of this saga, the goblin wins the sympathy of more than one, although later it is easy to detest him.

Música / Music: Strvngers - Disintegration (Video)

Buenos días, gente. ¿Cómo les va? Hace poco les hablé sobre el nuevo sencillo de Strvngers, Disintegration, el segundo de Zayka, su disco más reciente. Hace dos días salió el video correspondiente, y fue toda una sorpresa desde el principio hasta el final.

Pensado para verse desde un teléfono, el video viste a la canción de una manera increíble, reflejando tanto la desesperación como los sentimientos que llenan la letra y los ritmos que la componen. Hay una edición fuerte que sataniza el mundo virtual, pero yo diría que muestra un lado muy real de lo que es sentirse vulnerable e indefenso. Refleja perfectamente lo que es una crisis nerviosa.

El nivel de detalle y las secuencias que se muestran son sinónimo de todo esto. Desde las distracciones, las búsquedas en internet, hasta los mensajes constantes y los intentos de llenar ese vacío emocional con los Me Gusta y comentarios en las redes sociales. No sé si fue el mensaje que quizo dar la banda, pero fue lo que me dieron a entender y dieron justo en el clavo.

Es una propuesta experimental que recupera lo mejor del cine de horror y slasher, recordando clásicos de la gran pantalla, y los pone justo al lado de OnlyFans, una plataforma que sigue creciendo con cada hora que pasa. Yo diría que Disintegration es ante todo un video sobre las enfermedades mentales y su relación con las redes sociales, específicamente cómo una afecta a la otra.

Se lo dije a la banda en un comentario de YT y lo digo por aquí también. Strvngers es un dúo que nunca me ha defraudado, que siempre apuesta por los riesgos, buscar hacer algo diferente, y este cuarto álbum viene con letras fuertes, a juzgar por este sencillo y el primero, Vita Brevis. Pronto les compartiré mi opinión al respecto, pero ya pueden escuchar y comprar Zayka en Bandcamp.

Good morning people. How are you doing? I recently told you about Strvngers' new single Disintegration, Zayka's second, their most recent album. Two days ago the corresponding video came out, and it was quite a surprise from the beginning to the end.

Intended to be viewed from a phone, the video dresses the song in an incredible way, reflecting both the despair and the feelings that fill the lyrics and the rhythms that compose it. There's a strong edition that demonizes the virtual world, but I would say that it shows a very real side of what it is to feel vulnerable and defenseless. It perfectly reflects what a nervous breakdown is.

The level of detail and the sequences shown are synonymous with all this. From distractions, Internet searches, to constant messages and attempts to fill that emotional void with likes and comments on social networks. I don't know if it was the message that the band wanted to give, but it was what they made me understand and they hit the nail on the head.

It's an experimental proposal that recovers the best of horror and slasher cinema, recalling classics from the big screen, and puts them right next to OnlyFans, a platform that continues to grow with each passing hour. I would say that Disintegration is first and foremost a video about mental illness and its relationship to social media, specifically how one affects the other.

I told the band in a YT comment and I say it around here too. Strvngers is a duo that has never let me down, always taking risks, trying to do something different, and this fourth album comes with strong lyrics, judging by this single and the first, Vita Brevis. I will share my thoughts on this soon, but you can already listen and buy Zayka on Bandcamp.

Reseña / Review: Werebear Skye

Buenos días, gente. ¿Cómo va la semana? ^^ Sigo enamorado de Black Annis, y decidí descrubrir el pasado de un personaje que me llamó mucho la atención, una mujer oso llena de sorpresas. Hoy vengo con mi reseña para Werebear Skye: Blood Hunt, por Aubrey Law. ¡Gracias a la autora por colocar este libro gratis en Amazon! Igual que siempre, esta es mi reseña honesta.

Dientes afilados. Garras curvas. Mal genio.

Skye quiere encontrar al nigromante que mató a su padre y derramar su sangre malvada. También es una gran persona que resulta ser una mortal mujer oso con mal genio y la boca ocasionalmente sucia. ¿Podrá resolver el espantoso misterio del asesinato que la ha perseguido durante diez años?

Esta es una historia corta de origen de Skye que tiene lugar en el año 1997, veinte años antes de que conozca a la bruja Black Annis en Demon Slayer (Revenge of the Witch #2).

La historia es evidentemente bastante corta, pero efectiva. El estilo de la autora sigue encantándome y la voz de Skye, aunque muy diferente de la de Annis por ser más contemporánea, tiene ciertas similitudes. No en vano se llevan tan bien desde el primer día, pues tienen el mismo carácter y un sentido del humor también aprecido al de la otra.

Esta novela corta es un poco más violenta de lo que esperaba, con menos magia que los libros de la saga principal, lo cual no me sorprendió mucho. La protagonista es una mujer oso llena de odio y deseos de venganza, aunque falta de experiencia, dicha sea la verdad. Aubrey Law manejó muy bien este persoanje y le dio el protagonismo que merecía.

Hubiese preferido un poco más de desarollo en cuanto a los sentimientos de Skye. La autora se centró en la acción más que en cualquier cosa, pero sentí que pudo haber ahondado un poco más en el dolor y los conflictos de la protagonista, darle un poco más de espacio a su vulnerabilidad en vez de quedarse solo en la superficie.

En un mundo lleno de lobos, los osos siempre me llamaron la atención, y la mitología que está creando Aubrey Law cobró fuerza en Werebear Skye: Blood Hunt. Me quedaron algunas preguntas con respecto a como funciona el mundo para los cambiaformas osos, pero es una lectura que te deja satisfecho en mucho sentidos. Fue un libro atrapante y con una protagonista con la que simpatizas desde el principio.

Sharp teeth. Curved claws. Hot temper.

Skye wants to find the necromancer that killed her father and spill his evil blood. She's also a great person who happens to be a deadly werebear with a bad temper and an occasionally dirty mouth. Can she solve the dreadful murder mystery that has haunted her for ten years?

This is an origin short story of Skye that takes place in the year 1997 twenty years before she meets the witch Black Annis in Demon Slayer (Revenge of the Witch #2).

The story's obviously quite short, but effective. I still love the author's style and Skye's voice, although very different from Annis's because it's more contemporary, has certain similarities. Not in vain they get along so well from day one, as they have the same character and a sense of humor that's also appreciated by the other.

This short novel is a bit more violent than I expected, with less magic than the main series books, which didn't surprise me much. The protagonist is a werebear woman full of hatred and desires for revenge, although lack of experience, to tell the truth. Aubrey Law handled this character very well and gave her the prominence she deserved.

I would have preferred a little more development regarding Skye's feelings. The author focused on action more than anything else, but I felt like she could have delved a little deeper into the protagonist's pain and conflicts, given her vulnerability a little more space instead of just on the surface.

In a world full of wolves, bears have always caught my eye, and the mythology Aubrey Law is creating gained momentum in Werebear Skye: Blood Hunt. I was left with a few questions regarding how the world works for bear shifters, but it's a satisfying read in many ways. It was an engaging book with a protagonist that you sympathize with from the beginning.

Música / Music: Evanescence - Yeah Right

Buen día, Nocturnos. Espero que estén bien. ^^ Hace días escuché Yeah Right, el nuevo tema de Evanescence, parte de su próximo álbum The Bitter Truth, Las buenas noticias son que ya tenemos fecha de lanzamiento oficial, las malas es que es para el 26 de marzo de 2021.

Esta canción me recordó bastante al tercer sencillo del álbum, Use My Voice, con una estructura también similar a The Game Is Over, el segundo sencillo. Sin embargo, Yeah Right viene cargado con una fuerte dosis de ironía y sarcasmo inusual cuando se habla de Evanescence. La letra sencilla y directa va muy acorde con el estilo que la banda ha manejado para este nuevo álbum, solo que recupera la fuerza de sus primeros trabajos.

Con algunos toques electrónicos que complementan y balancean el sonido de rock, diría que este podría volverse en uno de los favoritos de los fanáticos, quizá no tan aclamado por la crítica, pero que deja un muy buen sabor en la boca. Parece el sencillo de un grupo independiente, solo que con el estilo de una banda de la talla de evanescence.

El puente es sencillamente glorioso, y ni hablar de la poderosa guitarra, justo antes de las últimas líneas que Amy Lee grita con energía y rebeldía, igual que cuando empezó la banda que la llevaría a la fama. Tiene esa energía adolescente, vulnerable pero a la vez liberadora, volviendo Yeah Right una canción que nos hacía falta entre tantas restricciones.

Good morning, Nighters. I hope you are well. ^^ Days ago I heard Yeah Right, the new Evanescence song, part of their next album The Bitter Truth, The good news is that we already have an official release date, the bad news is that it is for March 26, 2021.

This song reminded me a lot of the third single from the album, Use My Voice, with a structure also similar to The Game Is Over, the second single. However, Yeah Right comes loaded with a heavy dose of irony and sarcasm, unusual when it comes to Evanescence. The simple and direct lyrics are very much in line with the style that the band has used for this new album, only that it recovers the strength of their first works.

With some electronic touches that complement and balance the rock sound, I'd say this could turn out to be a fan favorite, perhaps not as critically acclaimed, but it leaves a really good taste in your mouth. It sounds like the single of an independent group, yet with the style of a band of the stature of Evanescence.

The bridge is simply glorious, let alone the powerful guitar, just before the last lines that Amy Lee screams with energy and rebellion, just like when she started the band that would lead her to fame. It has that adolescent energy, vulnerable but at the same time liberating, turning Yeah Right a song that we needed among so many restrictions.

Ashley vio a Sonja y al mundo a través de la hermosa ventana del amor. Ella no vio el lado oscuro de todo el mundo y de todo como yo. Con el fantasma de Ashley, fui testigo de los colores brillantes de la compasión y sentí la calidez relajante de la emoción. Por un momento quise congelar el tiempo y vivir dentro de su mundo para siempre. Un mundo sin odio amargo por mis innumerables enemigos y sin desprecio eterno por mi propia desdichada madre. Este libro fue mucho mejor que el primero en términos de estilo, desarrollo y ritmo. Me gustó lo letal que se volvió Annis en un momento y cómo siempre encontraba la manera de sobrevivir a sus muchas peleas. ¡Esta es una bruja sedienta de sangre que preferiría tener como amiga o simplemente no conocerla!

La mejor parte fue el estilo de escritura, tan descriptivo y los muchos adjetivos. Si bien algunos lectores pueden encontrar esto extraño o incluso molesto, Audrey Law lo hace funcionar con facilidad y le da más color a la lectura. Annis tiene un sentido del humor oscuro que coincide con la oscuridad y la violencia de la historia, y es violento, lleno de muchas escenas de lucha y acción.

Lo que no me gustó mucho fue la primera parte de la pelea final. Fue demasiado rápida, un conflicto que se resolvió demasiado pronto. La siguiente pelea fue mucho mejor, pero aun así me dejó un sabor agridulce en la boca. Además, me pareció que Annis se volvía demasiado torpe en algunas escenas, dependiendo de la suerte o de la ayuda de otros para mantenerse con vida, lo que me pareció extraño dada su reputación y potencial letales.

A pesar de esto, Aubrey Law hizo que me enamorara oficialmente de esta saga después de Black Annis: Demon Slayer. Tiene un poco de romance, un poco de drama, pero la fantasía, la acción y la magia son las protagonistas. ¡No hace falta decir que estoy ansioso por ver cómo sigue esto! Ya estoy leyendo una novela corta spin-off que explora los orígenes de Skye, sexy y mortal mujer-oso que encontramos en esta novela, y sigo asombrado.

Black Magic is the best revenge.

For a split second I'd seen through her true eyes. Not the seductive brown eyes I'd taken from her but the spiritual eyes of her soul. Ashley saw Sonja, and the world, through the beautiful window of love. She didn't see the dark side of everyone and everything as I did. With Ashley's ghost I'd witnessed the bright colors of compassion and felt the soothing warmth of emotion. For a moment I'd wanted to freeze time and live inside her world forever. A world without bitter hatred for my countless enemies and eternal scorn for my own wretched mother. I imagined a life of love and it didn't repulse me. Then I remembered how Amelia, Regina, and now Sonja had all inserted their sharp knives into my back and twisted the blade. The warm light within my heart died and the cold bottomless darkness returned. No more dreams of a life that could never be. I was Black Annis and nothing could change my fate.

This book was way much better than the first one in terms of style, development, and pace. I liked how lethal Annis became at one point and how she always found a way to survive her many fights. This is a blood-thirsty witch I'd rather have as a friend or simply not meet at all!

The best part was the writing style, so descriptive and the many adjectives. While some readers may find this strange or even bothersome, Audrey Law makes it work with ease and gives more color to the reading. Annis has a dark sense of humor that matches the darkness and violence in the story, and boy it is violent, filled with many fighting and action scenes.

What I didn't like that much was the first part of the final fight. It was way too fast, a conflict that was resolved too quickly. The following fight was much better, but it still left me a bittersweet taste in the mouth. Also, it seemed to me that Annis became too clumsy in some scenes, depending on luck or the help of others to stay alive, which I found strange given her deadly reputation and potential.

Despite this, Aubrey Law made me officially fall in love with this saga after Black Annis: Demon Slayer. It has a bit of romance, a bit of drama, but fantasy, action, and magic are the protagonist. Needless to say that I'm eager to see how this follows! I'm already reading a spin-off novella that explores the origins of Skye, the sexy and deadly werebear we meet in this novel, and I'm still amazed.

Música / Music: Strvngers - Disintegration

Buen día, nocturnos. ^^ Espero que estén de humor para nueva buena música, porque hoy vengo con mi opinión de Disintegration, de Strvngers, un dúo canadiense del que les he hablado varias veces. Es el segundo lanzamiento luego de Vita Brevis, a poco más de una semana del lanzamiento de Zayka, su próximo álbum.

A comparación con el sencillo anterior, esta es una canción mucho más energética, movida, incluso agresiva en algunas partes. Me recordó mucho al primer disco de este par, Sonic Erotica, y el cual fue relanzado con su nombre a través de Negative Gain, pero con un estilo mucho más variado y sólido. Strvngers nunca me ha decepcionado desde que me topé con su música, y esta vez siento que se lucieron por el buen resultado con este tema.

Strvngers siempre se ha destacado por propuestas diferentes, por combinar distintos elementos de la música electrónica con letras que comúnmente encontraríamos en el metal. Esta vez no es la excepción, porque hay tanto ritmos frenéticos como unos mucho más pausados, incluso, diría yo, que algo de dupstep y trap. ¿Quién dijo miedo? ¿Quién dijo normal? Ciertamente no fue esta gente.

Debo admitir que la letra fue mucho más sencilla de lo que esperaba. Siempre he preferido las metáforas y el simbolismo, por lo que me causó un poco de emociones conflictivas. Sin embargo, lo escuché un par de veces más y ya siento que lo amo. Habla de las relaciones tóxicas y va justo a esos momentos que no quieres recordar, solo para volverse adictiva más adelante.

Si estaba ansioso por el lanzamiento de Zayka, este 16 de diciembre, pero ahora que escuché Disintegration siento que los días no pueden pasar suficientemente rápido. Strvngers demostró una vez más por qué es un proyecto en el que creo firmemente y por qué son mi banda favorita. ¿Quién mejor que ellos para cantar sobre suicidios, fracasos amorosos, y luchar contra la culpa que ellos?

Good morning, evening. ^^ I hope you are in the mood for some great new music, because today I come with my opinion of Disintegration, de Strvngers, a Canadian duo that I have spoken to you several times about. It is the second release after Vita Brevis, just over a week after the release of Zayka, their next album.

Compared to the previous single, this is a much more energetic, lively song, even aggressive in some parts. It reminded me a lot of the first album of this pair, Sonic Erotica, and which was relaunched with their name through Negative Gain, but with a much more varied and solid style. Strvngers has never disappointed me since I came across their music, and this time I feel like they stood out for the good result with this song.

Strvngers has always stood out for different proposals, for combining different elements of electronic music with lyrics that we would commonly find in metal. This time it is not the exception, because there are both frenetic rhythms and some much slower ones, even, I would say, some dupstep and trap. Who said fear? Who said normal? It certainly wasn't these people.

I must admit that the lyrics were much simpler than I expected. I've always preferred metaphors and symbolism, so it caused me a few conflicting emotions. However, I listened to it a couple more times and I already feel like I love it. It talks about toxic relationships and goes straight to those memories you do not want to bring back to life at first, only to become addictive later.

I was really looking forward to Zayka's release this December 16th, but now that I've heard Disintegration I feel like the days can't go by fast enough. Strvngers proved once again why it's a project I strongly believe in and why they are my favorite band. Who better than them to sing about suicides, love failures, and fight guilt than they?

Música / Music: Within Temptation - The Purge (Video)

Buen día, Nocturnos. ¿Cómo les va? Hace poco salió el video de The Purge, el segundo sencillo del próximo album de Within Temptation, del cual les hablé a finales del mes pasado. Siguiendo con el estilo de Entertain You, el primer sencillo, el video es mucho más sencillo de lo que normalmente realiza la banda, conservando el impacto visual y los giros de trama cuando hay una historia de por medio.

El ocultismo y los viajes del alma son temas primordiales, con una estética sumamente oscura y una atmósfera opresiva. Los efectos especiales son igual de sencillos, no muy elaborados, pero destacan justamente por ir de la mano con el video en genera, dándole un tono sobrenatural a todo el trabajo.

Sharon, igual que siempre, estuvo impecable como la protagonita, recordándome a su aspecto en All I Need, de The Heart of Everything. Con algunos toques de actuación, esta mujer sorprende en cada plano, especialmente los últimos del video por el significado que le dan no solo visualmente sino musicalmente al tema.

The Purge es una canción que habla fuertemente sobre ser tu propio peor enemigo y, ahora que la acompaña un video, es imposible no estar de acuerdo con que tanto la vista como el oído van de la mano cada vez que lo ves. Es igual de imposible que el álbum salga este año, pero no se peude dudar de lo poderoso que será una vez que vea la luz graciasa este tema. ¿Ustedes que creen? ¡Háganmelo saber en los comentarios!

Good morning, Nighters. How are you doing? The video for The Purge, the second single from Within Temptation's upcoming album, came out recently, which I told you about late last month. Continuing in the style of Entertain You, the first single, the video's much simpler than what the band normally does, retaining the visual impact and plot twists when a story is involved.

The occult and soul travels are paramount themes, with an extremely dark aesthetic and an oppressive atmosphere. The special effects are just as simple, not very elaborate, but they stand out precisely because they go hand in hand with the video in general, giving a supernatural tone to all the work.

Sharon, as always, was flawless as the protagonist, reminding me of her appearance in All I Need, from The Heart of Everything. With some acting touches, this woman surprises in every shot, especially the lasts of the video for the meaning they give not only visually but also musically to the subject.

The Purge is a song that speaks strongly about being your own worst enemy and, now that a video accompanies it, it's impossible not to agree that both sight and hearing go hand in hand every time you see it. It's just as impossible that the album will come out this year, but you cannot doubt how powerful it will be like once it sees the light because of this track. What do you think? Davies, me hizo estremecer con cada capítulo, más muchas historias de horror ficticias. ¡Gracias al autor por enviarme una copia a cambio de una reseña honesta!

Sin embargo, a medida que leía quedaba cada vez más aterrado por lo que contaba esta mujer. Las situaciones por las que pasó me parecían salidas de una película de terror, pero mucho más fuerte.

El autor mantuvo casi todo el libro enfocado en las declaraciones de Susan, el seudónimo de la mujer que prefirió mantenerse en el anonimato, y con justa razón. Cualquier persona que escuchara o leyera solo una parte de estas experiencias creería que son las alucinaciones de una enferma mental, pero al leer de principio a fin es imposible no espantarce.

Con un estilo altamente descriptivo y declaraciones adicionales que corroboran las experiencias de Susan, es fácil sumergirse en la narración, trasladarse en el tiempo y espacio hacia cada vivencia, hasta olvidarse de las resonsabilidades. Hubiese querido que incluyeran los dibujos que se mencionaron en el libro para tener una mejor idea de qué fue lo que vio Susan, pero las explicaciones fueron lo suficientemente gráficas.

G.L. Davies presenta una realidad aterradora en Harvest: The True Story of Alien Abduction. Es un libro que reta el entendimiento que tenemos del universo, el límite de las posibilidades, y lo que puede haber allí afuera, quizá viéndonos en este momento. Si no crees en la vida en otros planetas, este libro puede hacerte cambiar de parecer.

I started with some doubts because, honestly, the synopsis seemed like one of many that seek to create expectations when in reality the story is very soft. However, as I read, I became more and more terrified by what this woman was saying. The situations she went through seemed like something out of a horror movie, but much heavier.

The author kept most of the book focused on the statements of Susan, the pseudonym of the woman who preferred to remain anonymous, and with good reason. Anyone who listened to or read only a part of these experiences would believe that they're the hallucinations of a mental patient, but when reading from beginning to end it's impossible not to be scared.

With a highly descriptive style and additional statements that corroborate Susan's experiences, it's easy to immerse yourself in the narrative, move in time and space towards each experience, until you forget about the responsibilities. I would have liked the book to include the pictures mentioned in it to get a better idea of ​​what Susan saw, but the explanations were graphic enough.

G.L. Davies presents a terrifying reality in Harvest: The True Story of Alien Abduction. It's a book that challenges our understanding of the universe, the limit of possibilities, and what may be out there, perhaps seeing ourselves in this moment. If you don't believe in life on other planets, this book may change your mind.
