Strvngers - Vita Brevis

Buenos días, Nocturnos. ¿Cómo estuvo su fin de semana? A medida que trabajo en Cuentos de Hadas para no Dormir, me pongo al día con muchas bandas. Hay un sencillo al que no le presté atención en su momento porque estaba concentrado en otras cosas, y apenas ahora (tarde, sí, ya sé) lo puedo apreciar como se debe: Vita Brevis, de Strvngers, el primer sencillo de su próximo álbum, Zayka, previsto a lanzarse el 15 de diciembre de este año.

Strvngers es una banda que no deja de sorprenderme. Sus canciones siempre son oscuras, pero de una manera u otra reinventan su estética sin dejar de ser fieles a su estilo particular. Justo eso sucede con esta canción y su video. Explora una estética más experimental en comparación con los trabajos anteriores del dueto, demostrando por qué son los favoritos de muchos.

Con un ritmo hipnotizante y una letra macabra, Vita Brevis nos recuerda las decepciones amorosas que todos vivimos, pero sin dejar atrás esa parte romántica, mucho menos los pensamientos más peligrosos que rondan la mente humana. Es una canción para corazones rotos, sensibles, y amores del más allá.

Siempre he considerado que las baladas son un riesgo que cualquiera debe correr en algún momento, y en el caso de Strvngers no hubo nada que lamentar, sino todo lo contrario. Aunque los fans quedamos enamorados casi de inmediato, los que no conozcan su música también caerán bajo el hechizo, o por lo menos los que tengan buen gusto.

Sí diría que el video de Vita Brevis es más sencillo de lo que esperaba, pero es ingeniosamente atractivo. Creo que es lo único que no me termina de convencer aún, pero estoy seguro de que es cuestión de tiempo para que me encante, como siempre pasa con el material de este par.

Good morning, Nighters. How was your weekend? As I work on Cuentos de Hadas para no Dormir, I catch up with many bands. There's a single that I didn't pay attention to at the time because I was concentrating on other things, and only now (late, yes, I know) can I appreciate it as it should: Vita Brevis, by Strvngers, the first single from their next album, Zayka, scheduled to be released on December 15 this year.

Strvngers is a band that never ceases to amaze me. Their songs are always dark, but in one way or another they reinvent their aesthetics while remaining faithful to their particular style. That0s exactly what happens with this song and its video. It explores a more experimental aesthetic compared to the duet's previous works, demonstrating why they are the favorites of many.

With a hypnotizing rhythm and macabre lyrics, Vita Brevis reminds us of the love disappointments that we all live, but without leaving behind that romantic part, much less the most dangerous thoughts that haunt the human mind. It's a song for broken, sensitive hearts, and loves from beyond the grave.

I have always considered that ballads are a risk that anyone must take at some point, and in the case of Strvngers there was nothing to regret, but quite the opposite. Although we fans fall in love almost immediately, those who don't know their music will also fall under the spell, or at least those who have good taste.

I would say that the Vita Brevis video is simpler than I expected, but it is cleverly engaging. I think it's the only thing that doesn't quite convince me yet, but I'm sure it's a matter of time before I love it, as it always happens with the material of this pair.
