¡Buenos días, Nocturnos! Ayer me llevé una sorpresa cuando vi que Marilyn Manson lanzó un nuevo sencillo. Parece que todas las banda que me gustan están activas y no dejan de llegar con sorpresas, y que conste que no me estoy quejando. ^^ En esta ocasión, se trata de Don't Chase The Dead, de su más reciente álbum, We Are Chaos. Gráficamente hablando es un video bastante suave comparado con otros trabajos de Mason, aunque eso no significa que deje de ser perturbador. Hay varias tomas que le ponen los pelos de punta a cualquiera. No en vano se trata de Marilyn Manson, y si no te sientes incómodo al ver su material, algo está mal en tu cabeza.
Según me parece haber entendido, el video es una crítica a la situación actual que vivimos en el mundo, buscando un culpable como si de una cacería de brujas se tratara, dejándonos llevar por el pánico y la rabia. Básicamente viene con un mensaje bastante positivo que previene a los seguidores de la banda sobre las emociones más primitivas del ser humano.
El sencillo está protagonizado por Manson, Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) y al novia de este Lindsay Usich, quienes muestran una historia sombría que va de la mano con la canción. Tanto tema como video son oscuros por sí solos, pero juntos son una combinación ganadora. Aunque no es mi canción favorita del disco, es una elección interesante que se traduce muy bien a la pantalla.
Este video fue una buena sorpresa y demuestra que la banda no ha perdido su esencia en ningún sentido con el paso del tiempo, sino que se han afianzado definitivamente como enemigos de la cultura popular y amantes de lo macabro. Don't Chase The Dead hace justo eso: atacar a la sociedad y llamar la atención de aquellos que pueden provocar un cambio. Y lo hace con estilo.

Good morning, Nighters! Yesterday I was surprised when I saw that Marilyn Manson released a new single. It seems that all the bands that I like are active and they do not stop coming with surprises, and for the record I'm not complaining. ^^ This time, it's Don't Chase The Dead, from their newest album, We Are Chaos. Graphically speaking, it's a fairly smooth video compared to Mason's other work, although that doesn't mean it's not disturbing. There are several takes that make anyone's hair stand on end. Not in vain we're talking about Marilyn Manson, and if you don't feel uncomfortable looking at their material, something is wrong with your head.
As I seem to have understood, the video's a criticism of the current situation we live in the world, looking for a culprit as if it were a witch hunt, letting us be carried away by panic and rage. It basically comes with a pretty positive message that warns the band's fans about the most primitive emotions of the human being.
The single stars Manson, Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) and his girlfriend Lindsay Usich, which show a grim story that goes hand in hand with the song. Both theme and video are dark on their own, but together they are a winning combination. Although it's not my favorite track on the album, it's an interesting choice that translates very well to the screen.
This video was a good surprise and shows that the band has not lost its essence in any sense with the passage of time, but that they have definitely established themselves as enemies of popular culture and lovers of the macabre. Don't Chase The Dead does just that: attack society and draw the attention of those who can make a difference. And does it with style.
