He estado leyendo mucho estos días, poniéndome al día con mis proyectos, haciendo planes, y preparando algunas sorpresas. ^^ Ya quiero que pasen los días para contarles todo, pero por hoy me voy a enfocar en una que me llevé yo mismo ayer por la tarde, cuando descubrí que fue lanzada una versión de The Edge of Glory por Years & Years, dejándonos con la boca abierta pocos días antes del lanzamiento oficial de Born This Way The Tenth Anniversary.

Una canción con tanta fuerza como la tuvo The Edge of Glory, que de sencillo promocional se convirtió en un sencillo oficial, iba a ser un desafío por ser un tema tan personal para Gaga, relatando su experiencia y sus pensamientos luego de que su abuelo falleciera, dando la impresión de que partía orgulloso del legado que dejaba detrás de él.
Olly Alexander, fundador y cabeza de Years & Years, hizo un tributo muy a la altura del tema original, mantiendo la escencia pero siendo fiel a su estilo propio, muy similar a lo que hizo Kylie Minogue con Marry The Night. Tiene varios toques retros y crea una atmósfera más suave en comparación, y ni hablar sobre ese puente tan hipnótico que me encanta.
Se me hace imposible pensar en alguna falla de este cover, porque por más que me hubiese gustado que conservara la fuerza y la energía del original, y que tanto caracteriza a todo el disco y la era de Born This Way, tiene una identidad muy sólida, una producción excelente, y un ritmo pegajoso. Aunque la he escuchado ya varias veces, no me canso de la voz melodiosa de Olly.
Era obvio desde el principio que Born This Way The Tenth Anniversary sería un fenómeno, y lo confirmamos con cada pista que sale a la luz. Esta versión de The Edge of Glory es uno de los temas más sólidos y bien elaborados hasta ahora, superado solamente por el trabajo de Kylie. Creo que lo único que haría falta es una cantante femenina LBT+, que fácilmente podría ser Kesha, Demi Lovato, o Kim Petras. Esta edición saldrá a la luz finalmente mañana, así que solo hay que esperar un poco más. ¡Se dice tan fácil!

I've been reading a lot these days, catching up on my projects, making plans, and preparing some surprises. ^^ I already want the days to go by to tell you everything, but for today I'm going to focus on one that I had myself yesterday afternoon, when I discovered the version of The Edge of Glory by Years & Years was released, leaving us with the jaws dropped just days before the official release of Born This Way The Tenth Anniversary.

A song with as much strenght as The Edge of Glory had, which from a promotional single became an official single, was going to be a challenge because it was such a personal track for Gaga, recounting her experience and her thoughts after her grandfather passed away, giving the impression that he was proud of the legacy he left behind him.
Olly Alexander, founder and head of Years & Years, made a tribute very up to the original theme, keeping the essence but staying true to his own style, very similar to what Kylie Minogue did with Marry The Night. It has several retro touches and creates a softer atmosphere in comparison, not to mention that hypnotic bridge that I love.
It is impossible for me to think of any flaws in this cover, because as much as I would have liked it to preserve the strength and energy of the original, and which characterizes the entire album and the Born This Way era, it has a very solid identity, an excellent production, and a catchy rhythm. Although I've listened to it several times already, I can't get enough of Olly's melodious voice.
It was obvious from the start that Born This Way The Tenth Anniversary would be a phenomenon, and we confirm that with every track that comes out. This The Edge of Glory version is one of the most robust and well-crafted tracks yet, second only to Kylie's work. I think the only thing that would be needed is an LBT+ female singer, which could easily be Kesha, Demi Lovato, or Kim Petras. This edition will finally be out tomorrow, so we just have to wait a little longer. It is said so easy!
