Hoy vengo con un webcómic que me llamó mucho la atención por lo prometedor que se ve, además de que ha pasado MUCHO desde que reseñé uno. Se trata de Mara, por Dylan Goss y Rosi Woo. Gracias a Dylan por enviarme una copia del primer capítulo a cambio de una reseña honesta!

Este primer capítulo de Mara nos presenta a una chica que parece llevar una vida bastante tranquila con su tribu, devotos de Amaruq, el espíritu Lobo, hasta que una tribu rival liderada por un ente extraño invade y se desarrolla un conflicto que obligará a Amaruq a intervenir en contra de las palabrs de Angakkuq, el espíritu Oso.
La estructura es sencilla, el ritmo es bastante rápido sin llegar a ser apresurado, sino que da suficiente contenido como para mantener el interés en la narración. Evidentemente, mi debilidad es el guión. Gylan Ross hizo un buen trabajo dándole forma a la historia, y por más que Rosi Woo hizo un arte precioso que me encanta, el guión se desarrolla de una manera que lo hace resaltar.
Diría que este primer capítulo se sintió muy corto en comparación a todo lo que se podía descubrir, pero despierta la curiosidad de muy buena forma, planteando preguntas importantes y presentándonos una protagonista interesante que dará de qué hablar pronto. Lo digo porque trabaja con elementos clásicos de la fantasía de manera original y da razones creativas para mostrar a esta chica como un personaje sólido a pesar del poco espacio.
Mara es de esas historias que quieres seguir de cerca y saber cómo van a terminar porque te enamoraron sin tú darte cuenta. Dylan Goss y Rosi Woo supieron darle vida a la historia, cada uno haciendo un buen trabajo. ¿La mejor noticia? Lo pueden leer gratis y donar lo que deseen y/o puedan para apoyar a sus creadores.

Mara is the first comic from Stuffed Rock Studio, about the titular character, Mara. Follow her on an adventure that takes her from her little fishing village to the far reaches of the world!
This first chapter of Mara introduces us to a girl who seems to lead a fairly quiet life with her tribe, devotees of Amaruq, the Wolf spirit, until a rival tribe led by a strange entity invades and a conflict develops that will force Amaruq to intervene against the words of Angakkuq, the spirit Bear.
The structure is simple, the pace is quite fast without being rushed, but it gives enough content to maintain the interest in the narrative. Obviously, my weakness is the script. Dylan Goss did a good job shaping the story, and as much as Rosi Woo made beautiful art that I love, the script unfolds in a way that makes it stand out.
I would say that this first chapter felt very short compared to everything that could be discovered, but it arouses curiosity in a very good way, asking important questions and presenting us with an interesting protagonist who will be talking about soon. I say this because it works with classic elements of fantasy in an original way and gives creative reasons to show this girl as a solid character despite the little space.
Mara is one of those stories that you want to follow closely and know how they will end because you fell in love without you realizing it. Dylan Goss and Rosi Woo brought the story to life, each doing a good job. The best news? You can read it for free and donate what you want and/or can to support its creators.
