Today I wanted to tell you a
little about a new addiction and subject for my master's degree: webcomics. Those are the very same comics of
our lives, but with the sole difference that they are directly published in
digital form, most of the time for free and exclusive, paid content as a way to
find and have supporters.
I’ve also seen that many webcomics try to
implement new, alternative ideas, stories that I cannot find in
traditional-published comic books, and they tend to be more like a TV show, or,
as Michelle Czajkowski, the creator of Ava’s Demon, says, a “color script for a
movie;” with few exceptions.
Many webcomics are also done by independent
artists, and because of that, they have more freedom in what of content they
want to include, how to do it, how it looks like… complete, universal and almighty
control in their creation, to summarize.
However, I prefer those that actually tell a
story, and not those who only entertain. Frida Mortem, created by Lay Black (Venezuelan
talent, yay!) is the only exception, but I’m mostly keep the ones of that kind
away from me.
In terms of reading, I’ve been following Ava’s Demon, Monster Soup and Rainy Day
Dreams for a while, and have many more to include in the future, all of them in
the genre of Gothic fiction, another topic for my master’s, or Dark Fantasy. Let me tell you that those have been GREAT choices!

Hello from the sideeeeee! ¿Cómo va esta semana para ustedes, gente? Hace poco recibí un autoregalo para mí, para yo, pero que mostraré más tarde. ^^
Hoy quería contarles un poco acerca de una nueva adicción y tema para mi maestría: los webcomics. Esos son los mismos cómics de toda la vida, pero con la única diferencia de que se publican directamente en forma digital, la mayoría del tiempo de forma gratuita y contenido exclusivo pago, como una forma de encontrar y tener seguidores.
También he visto que muchos webcomics tratan de implementar nuevas ideas alternativas, historias que no puedo encontrar en los cómics tradicionales publicados, y tienden a ser más como un guión de televisión, o, como Michelle Czajkowski, creadora de Ava's Demon, dice, un "guión de color para una película", con pocas excepciones.
Muchos webcomics también son realizados por artistas independientes, y por eso, tienen más libertad en cuanto al contenido que quieren incluir, cómo hacerlo, cómo se ve... completo, universal y omnipotente control en su creación, para resumir.
Sin embargo, prefiero aquellos que realmente cuentan una historia, y no los que sólo entretetienen. Frida Mortem, creada por Lay Black (talento venezolano, ¡yay!) es la única excepción, pero en su mayoría mantengo a los de esa clase lejos de mí.
En cuanto a lecturas, he estado siguiendo Ava's Demon, Monster Soup y Rainy Day Dreams por un tiempo, y tengo muchos más que incluir en el futuro, todos ellos en el género de la ficción gótica, otro tema para mi meestría, o la fatasía oscura. ¡Déjenme decirles que han sido elecciones BUENÍSIMAS!
