Buenos días, gente bonita. ¿Cómo estuvo ese fin de semana? Estuve leyendo otro poco, y hoy hay un cómic del que les quiero hablar. Sigo enamoradísimo de esta historia y cada vez me sorprende más: el octavo número de Basilisk, con un guión de Cullen Bunn y arte de Jonas Scharf ¡Gracias a la editorial por enviarme una copia a cambio de una reseña honesta!

Vanessa desciende a otro pueblo fantasma con los Faithful y Barret a cuestas, esta vez en el que murió la familia de Hannah, y Hannah no se queda atrás, en busca de Vanessa. Después de la confrontación, Vanessa se retira a la comunidad donde todo comenzó y encuentra una vista espeluznante tanto familiar como inesperada.
Este número en particular se sintió un poco más extenso que los anteriores por la fuerza de las escenas, pero la lectura en ningún momento se sintió pesada. Se siente una atmósfera oscura, pesada, super interesante, que te llena de expectativas por saber qué va a pasar a continuación. El arte tampoco se queda atrás, volviéndose mejor con cada página que pasa, jugando con los colores para crear más impacto.
Tenía mucho miedo de que las cosas se apresuraran en este número de Basilisk, que pasara de todo en poco tiempo y se resolviera un conflicto que parece tan interesante, pero no fue el caso y se abre la puerta a más posibilidades. Podría aventurarme a decir que pronto conoceremos más sobre el pasado de los Quimera, cómo inició todo, su historia, y demás detalles.
La historia de Hannah se vuelve cada vez más interesante, aunque no hubo tanta información en esta oportunidad. Creo que sería lo único que no me convenció, porque esperaba algo más, un poco más de detalles sobre su pasado, algo más emotivo, en lugar de algunas escenas. Visualmente hablando fueron impactantes, y dejan ver el cambio tan radical que hay en su carácter, pero sentí que en general se quedó corto.
La mejor parte fue el final. La historia da un giro drástico que te deja preguntándote qué pasó, y temblando ante lo que esa escena podría significar para las chicas. Basilisk #8 es una lectura que no decepciona, entretiene de principio a fin, y tiene varias sorpresas bajo la manga.

Vanessa descends upon another ghost town with the Faithful and Barret in tow, this time the one where Hannah's family died, and Hannah isn't far behind, on the hunt for Vanessa. In the aftermath of the confrontation, Vanessa retreats to the community where it all began, finding an eerie sight both familiar and unexpected.
This particular issue felt a little longer than the previous ones due to the strength of the scenes, but the reading never felt heavy. You feel a dark, heavy, super interesting atmosphere that fills you with expectations to know what will happen next. The art is no slouch either, getting better with each turning page, playing with colors to create more impact.
I was very afraid that things would rush in this issue of Basilisk, that everything would happen in a short time and a conflict that seems so interesting would be resolved, but it wasn't the case and the door is opened to more possibilities. I could venture to say that we will soon learn more about the Chimera's past, how it all started, its history, and other details.
Hannah's story gets more and more interesting, although there wasn't as much information this time. I think that would be the only thing that didn't convince me, because I expected something more, a little more detail about her past, something more emotional, instead of some scenes. Visually speaking they were impressive, and they show the radical change that there is in her character, but I felt that in general it fell short.
The best part was the ending. The story takes a drastic turn that leaves you wondering what happened, and trembling at what that scene could mean for the girls. Basilisk #8 is a reading that doesn't disappoint, entertains from start to finish, and has several surprises up its sleeve.
