Buenas buenas.
Good good. It's been a while since I talked about my own books here. There's a project that has me excited, a post-apocalyptic horror novel set in Venezuela that I was publishing on Wattpad, but has now found a new home on StoryForge: Alive Among the Dead.
He was previously publishing her as Medicus, a Latin word that can be translated as "doctor" or "healer." I liked how it sounded and how it looked with the original cover, but it didn't reflect what the story means well enough. After a long time without writing, I decided to return to this story because I love what it represents.
I've never written straight horror before, and although this novel is much darker than I'm used to, I feel that there is something familiar about it, in the style, and in the ideas it includes. For me, it means returning to Venezuela in some way, something I can't do yet, but that may happen later. You never know.
How did all this start? With Wattpad, the Open Novella Contest, which I almost always signed up for, but was never able to complete (I should get back to it next year, just to get it done.) For those who aren't familiar, it's an initiative where several profiles in this genre or that share writing ideas, and you must choose one to participate. Yes, you can't plan ahead, and that's the idea: to prevent anyone from having the advantage. The idea is to write as many words for that day to continue participating,
One of the ideas that the organizers shared was precisely the basis of this story, although I don't remember it exactly. However, the story took shape almost instantly. A lot of the details popped into my head as soon as I read it, and I decided to give it a try. I've been wanting to write a zombie apocalypse in Venezuela for a long time, so this was the perfect option.
I'm doing my best to post three chapters a week, specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays of each week. Although parenting is incredibly time-consuming and my priority right now, I hope to get into a steady rhythm that I can maintain. I hope they decide to give Éric and Héctor a chance!
