Luego de que Michael Delacroix, un excéntrico y famoso artista altamente respetado por la crítica, desaparece sin dejar rastro, su destino queda en manos de un ente invisible que lo ha acompañado toda su vida. Con la ayuda de una monja que cree escuchar la voz de Dios y una periodista que sigue las señales del Universo, este ente debe hacer lo posible por salvar la vida de Michael antes de que un artista frustrado y envidioso acabe con él.

Esa es la sinopsis de The Keeper, una novela de T. F. Allen. La terminé de leer hace pocos días, y la verdad es que quedé sorprendido en más de una ocasión. La idea, ya de por sí prometedora, cuenta con personajes muy humanos con un perfil psicológico bastante completo y que combinan lo mejor y lo peor de la naturaleza humana.

El autor tiene un estilo atrapante. Su forma de narrar, llena de detalles y descripciones vívidas, te transporta a cada una de las escenas, y por lo intenso de la historia te ves obligado a seguir leyendo más y más. T. F. Allen creó una espiral de suspenso que no te da descanso. Tiene sus momentos pesados, a veces lentos, pero que ayudan a cementar las bases del mundo en donde viven los personajes.

Justamente esto sucede con el protagonista de The Keeper. Este ente está muy bien estructurado, muchísimo mejor que todos los demás personajes, lo que es decir mucho. Uno no puede evitar simpatizar con él y verse en situaciones surreales gracias al estilo con el que narra toda la historia. Llegué incluso a sentir cierta compasión y lástima por cómo sucedía todo, un golpe detrás del otro, mientras que esta entidad hacía todo lo que podía por ayudar a Michael.

Siento que el tema del arte quedó algo superficial, para ser honesto. Crecí en un ambiente rodeado de museos y galerías, mi padre era artista y mi madre era amante de la cultura en todos sus sentidos. Que la novela se enfocara más en la abducción de Michael, aunque fuese la elección obvia, me dejó inconforme.

Sin embargo, los amantes de historias intensas, personajes complejos y trasfondos fascinantes, se deleitarán con The Keeper. T. F. Allen supo jugar muy bien con el único elemento paranormal que incluye la historia, desarrollarlo de manera atractiva e implementarlo de forma orgánica en toda la trama. Una novela de suspenso imperdible.

That's the synopsis of The Keeper, a novel by T. F. Allen. I finished reading it a few days ago, and truth is that I was surprised on more than one occasion. The idea, already promising in itself, has very human characters with a fairly complete psychological profile and who combine the best and the worst of human nature.

The author has an engaging style. His way of narrating, full of details and vivid descriptions, transports you to each of the scenes, and because of the intense history you are forced to keep reading on and on. T. F. Allen created a spiral of suspense that doesn't give you a rest. It has its heavy moments, sometimes slow, but they help cement the foundations of the world where the characters live.

Exactly this happens with the protagonist of The Keeper. This entity is very well structured, much better than all the other characters, which is saying a lot. One can not help sympathizing with him and seeing himself in surreal situations thanks to the style with which he tells the whole story. I even felt a certain compassion and pity for how everything happened, one blow after the other, while this entity did everything it could to help Michael.

I feel that the subject of art was something superficial, to be honest. I grew up in an environment surrounded by museums and galleries, my father was an artist and my mother is a lover of culture in all its senses. That the novel focused more on Michael's abduction, even though it was the obvious choice, left me unhappy.

However, lovers of intense stories, complex characters and fascinating backgrounds, will delight with The Keeper. T. F. Allen was able to play very well with the only paranormal element he includes the story, develop it in an attractive way and implement it organically throughout the plot. An unmissable suspene novel.
