Aunque leí el primero hace tiempo, vi la primera temporada del anime poco después, apenas la semana pasada pude leer el siguiente volumen en esta serie. Extrañaba a estos niños superdotados, sus capacidades, la trama, el estilo, el arte. Me encantó volver a visitar Grace Field House, y estoy seguro de que ustedes también cuando lean The Promised Neverland, Vol. 2, por Kaiu Shirai y Posuka Demizu.

La vida en Grace Field House ha sido buena para Emma y sus compañeros huérfanos. Si bien el estudio diario y los exámenes que tienen que tomar son difíciles, su amorosa cuidadora les brinda comidas deliciosas y mucho tiempo para jugar. Pero quizás no todo es lo que parece…

Los niños de Grace Field House se encuentran en más problemas mientras la hermana Krone continúa husmeando. ¿Podrán evitar que se descubran sus planes de escape? ¿Y cuál niño es el traidor que trabaja para mamá?

Este volumen está altamente enfocado en el desarrollo, la interacción de los personajes, y está lleno, pero es que LLENO de diálogos. Hay demasiados cabos por atar, muchas cosas que pensar, y aunque pareciera mentira que se trata de niños, todos tienen un perfil psicológico que me encanta. Hace que la lectura sea más liviana de lo que esperaba.

La trama se centra en los planes de escape de Emma, Norman, y Ray, a la vez que descubren el tipo de persona con la que han estado viviendo todo este tiempo. Trampas, equipos de vigilancia, juegos con propósitos escondidos... ¡Hay de todo en este libro! El guión está muy bien cuidado, el desarrollo es impecable, y el final te deja a la espera de más.

No me puedo quejar del arte más que por una sola cosa: hay expresiones faciales, planos, poses, incluso páginas enteras, que se ven exagerados, sobreelaborados. Intentaron verse más dramáticos de lo que necesitaban, y la lectura perdió fuerza de manera asombrosa. Fuera de esas pocas ocasiones, me encanta el diseño de los personajes, la forma en que sus emociones se traducen el papel, y los paisajes. ¡Especialmente los paisajes!

Me encantó este volumen, y estoy más que listo para empezar con el siguiente. Sin embargo, siento que a veces apunta tan alto que se queda corto, que las escenas claves pierden potencia. El tiempo se me pasó volando, eso sí lo admito, y los diálogos son toda una maravilla, así que todavía tengo ganas de más de todas formas.

Although I read the first one a long time ago, I watched the anime's first season shortly after, just last week I was able to read the next volume in this series. I missed these gifted children, their abilities, the plot, the style, the art. I loved revisiting Grace Field House, and I'm sure you will too when you read The Promised Neverland, Vol. 2, by Kaiu Shirai y Posuka Demizu.

The children of Grace Field House find themselves in even more trouble as Sister Krone continues to snoop around. Can they keep their escape plans from being uncovered? And which child is the traitor working for Mom?

This volume is highly focused on development, character interaction, and it's full, I mean FULL of dialogues. There are too many ends to tie up, a lot of things to think about, and oddly enough that it's about children, they all have a psychological profile that I love. It makes reading easier than I expected.

The plot centers on Emma, Norman, and Ray's escape plans, as they discover the kind of person they've been living with all this time. Traps, surveillance equipment, games with hidden purposes... There's everything in this book! The script's very well cared for, the development is impeccable, and the ending leaves you waiting for more.

I can't complain about the art for more than one thing: there are facial expressions, shots, poses, even entire pages, that look exaggerated, overworked. They tried to look more dramatic than they needed to, and the reading lost steam amazingly. Outside of those few occasions, I love the design of the characters, the way their emotions are translated onto paper, and the landscapes. Especially the landscapes!

I loved this volume, and am more than ready to get started on the next one. However, I feel that sometimes it aims so high that it falls short, that key scenes lose power. Time flew by, I admit that, and the dialogues are wonderful, so I still want more either way.
