For some time over here I was reading what I prefer: the first book by a new author, in this case, Oculus, by Ray LaCroix, an adult science fiction dystopia with a good dose of terror.

I have to start by saying that, by its gender, it became difficult to read, since I don't usually do it, but at no time was Ray's style fault, which has one very solid, consistent, and that gets you into reading every time raisins page.

The story itself is rather curious: A technologically advanced future where androids and artificial intelligences do almost everything for humans, something in the style of Wall-E but more mature, much more credible and that didn't cost me to imagine.
La historia en sí es bastante curiosa: Un futuro avanzado tecnológicamente, donde las inteligencias artificiales y androides haces casi todo por los humanos, algo al estilo de Wall-E pero más maduro, muchísimo más creíble y que no me costó imaginar.
Chapter after chapter, Ray makes you wonder from where we are starting off as dominant race, where is taking us our decisions and our behavior, questioning much, if not almost all, our time on the planet.
Capítulo tras capítulo, Ray hace que te cuestiones de dónde estamos partiendo como raza dominante, hacia dónde nos llevan nuestras decisiones y nuestra forma de actuar, poniendo en duda mucho, si no casi todo, nuestro paso por el planeta.
What surprises me is the ending; it is almost an implicit norm in dystopian stories to include the promise of a better long-term future thanks to the characters' actions, something that doesn't happen this time, but it is a new threat it appears, leaving the door open to many possibilities, not very positive.

I don't know the other readers, but I felt the frenzy of the characters, their fear, nerves to the skin, and more than once had to stop. Oculus is a highly dynamic reading playing with your brain, a simple story at first glance, but it has more than one secret to be revealed.

At the end of the story of Oculus, a second one appears, though short, it leaves you on cold sweat, much more if you're a writer, or hav ever felt that someone else is in control of your life and the actions you take and certain situation. It has happened to me several times, I'll just say that.
Al final de la historia de Oculus, aparece un segundo relato que, aunque corto, te deja sudando frío, mucho más si eres escritor, o sientes que alguien más tiene el control de tu vida y de las acciones que tomas e determinada situación. A mí me ha pasado varias veces, solo diré eso.
There were some small mistakes, a comma or script that was not where it should or that was needed, but I admit that in terms of style and editing the book has nothing to envy to other novels, a good point for Ray and his first literary child.
Hubieron algunos pequeños errores, una coma o guión que no estaba donde debería o que hacia falta, pero admito que en cuanto a estilo y edición el libro no tiene nada que envidiarle a otras novela, un buen punto a favor de Ray y su primer hijo literario.
When I read one of his stories as Ray Adams, long ago, I felt he was not quite on track, but after finishing Oculus I do realize that he got his voice, embracing as his own and makes it his best ally at the time of writing .
Cuando leí un cuento suyo como Ray Adams, tiempo atrás, sentí que no estaba del todo encaminado, pero luego de terminar Oculus me do cuenta de que ya consiguió su voz, la abraza como suya y la hace su mejor aliada a la hora de escribir.
