Buenos días, Nocturnos. ¿Qué tal ese fin de semana? Yo aproveché para ponerme al día con varias cosas, y hoy vengo con música de muy buen gusto, el álbum debút de una banda de metal gótico y sinfónico con influencia tanto cinemática como de ópera. Se trata de Beyond The Elysian Fields, de Aqvilea. ¡Gracias a Saturnia Records por enviarme una copia para reseñar!

Lo primero que pensé cuando empecé a escuchar esta belleza de álbum fue en Xandria. Un estilo similar con diferentes influencias, pero me recordó mucho a Sacrificium, el primer álbum con Dianne van Giersbergen. los estilos power y sinfónico se mezclan muy bien, pero con una buena dosis de metal gótico que marca la diferencia, dándole un sello diferente a la banda.

573 A.U.C. junto con Aeterna le dan un inicio fuerte, sólido, y adictivo al álbum, presentando a la banda en toda su gloria. Sin embargo, no es sino hasta Flight of the Eagle cuando la banda demuestra su potencial, tanto musical como vocalmente hablando, igual que con Mediolanum Swamps. Son temas muy bien balanceados y en donde cada integrante tiene su momento de gloria.

Estéticamente hablando, la propuesta de la banda no me llama mucho la atención, pero es solo por una cuestión de gustos personales. Lo que sí aplaudo es que Aqvilea tenga una propuesta diferente a los demás grupos de sus géneros, en donde todos usan vestimentas medievales y/o corséts. Pasa lo mismo con los sencillos, temas que me gustaron pero no tanto como otros.

El tema titular del álbum cierra este disco con una balada preciosa que no he podido dejar de escuchar. Es la combinación perfecta entre sensibilidad y energía, demostrando la versatilidad de Aqvilea. Beyond The Elysian Fields es un disco que me sorprendió con cada tema, con suficiente diversidad para hacerme sonreír, y un nivel de potencia que sube y baja conforme es necesario para darle cuerpo a cada una de sus canciones. De más está decir que espero con ansias el próximo trabajo de este talentoso trío.

Good morning, Nightlies. How about that weekend? I took the opportunity to catch up on various things, and today I come with very tasteful music, the debut album of a gothic and symphonic metal band with both cinematic and opera influences. It's Beyond The Elysian Fields, by Aqvilea. Thanks to Saturnia Records for sending me a review copy!

The first thing I thought of when I started listening to this beauty of an album was Xandria. A similar style with different influences, but it reminded me a lot of Sacrificium, the first album with Dianne van Giersbergen. The power and symphonic styles mix very well, but with a good dose of gothic metal that makes the difference, giving a different stamp to the band.

573 A.U.C. along with Aeterna give a strong, solid, and addictive start to the album, presenting the band in all its glory. However, it is not until Flight of the Eagle that the band shows its potential, both musically and vocally, just like with Mediolanum Swamps. They are very well balanced songs and where each member has their moment of glory.

Aesthetically speaking, the band's proposal doesn't appeal to me much, but it's just a matter of personal taste. What I do applaud is that Aqvilea has a different proposal from the other groups of their genres, where they all wear medieval clothing and/or corsets. The same thing happens with the singles, songs that I liked but not as much as others.

The titular track of the album closes this record with a beautiful ballad I haven't been able to stop listening to. It's the perfect combination of sensitivity and energy, demonstrating Aqvilea's versatility. Beyond The Elysian Fields is an album that surprised me with each song, with enough diversity to make me smile, and a power level that rises and falls as necessary to flesh out each of its songs. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to the next work of this talented trio.
