Ya saben que soy fan de Castlevania de Netflix. Es una serie de la que no puedo tener suficiente, bien hecha, con guiones increíbles, grandes voces y, la mejor parte, un arte impresionante. El diseño de los personajes, los fondos, los colores, los paisajes, todo lo que tenga que ver con las imágenes es simplemente perfecto, así que obtuve una copia de Castlevania: The Art of the Animated Series, por Frederator Studios, tan pronto como pude. No me arrepiento de nada.

Sin embargo, no por eso sentí que me perdiera de algo o que no pudiera apreciar ciertas partes de ello. Obviamente es un libro que se puede leer de una sentada, y eso es lo que me pasó a mí, pero la impresión es duradera, impulsando tu creatividad y amor por la serie en igual medida.

Había varias páginas de evolución que mostraban los cambios en diferentes diseños, desde personajes hasta objetos, junto con el proceso de producción, cómo cambia una imagen en las diferentes etapas de producción. Sabía que habría mucho trabajo en ello, ¡pero no estaba preparado para cuánto! Este no es solo un libro hermoso, sino también útil, ya que le ofrece una idea de lo que implica trabajar en una serie como esta.

Me hubiera gustado un poco más de texto, eso es seguro, tal vez algunas entrevistas con los creadores, los productores, algunas de las personas involucradas en dar vida a este programa, pero hay varios comentarios y especificaciones aquí y allá. Esta es ciertamente mi propia preferencia, debo admitirlo, y no tiene nada que ver con la calidad del material.

Sin embargo, es un libro al que volveré. Castlevania: The Art of the Animated Series es un libro que me dio muchas ideas, las imágenes me hicieron pensar en diferentes cosas, mejoraron mi creatividad y dieron una especie de guía sobre cómo desarrollar conceptos e historias, personajes y desarrollos. Hermoso, útil y lleno de la fantasía gótica que amamos. ¡No hay razón para no tenerlo!

You already know I'm a fan of Netflix's Castlevania. It's a series I can't get enough of, well-done, with amazing scripts, great voices, and, the best part, breath-taking art. The characters' design, the backgrounds, the colors, the landscapes, anything that has to do with the visuals is just perfect, and so I got a copy of Castlevania: The Art of the Animated Series, by Frederator Studios, as soon as I could. I regret nothing.

I've never had an art book before, and so this was a whole new experience for me. However, not because of that I felt I missed something or couldn't appreciate certain parts of it. It's obviously a book that can be read in one sitting, and that's what happened to me, but the impression is long-lasting, boosting your creativity and love for the show in equal measure.

There were several evolution pages that showed the changes in different designs, from characters to objects, along with the production process, how an image changes in the different stages of production. I knew there would be a lot of work on it, but I wasn't prepared for how much! This is not only a beautiful book, but also useful as it offers you and insight into what working in a show like this entails.

I would have liked a bit more text, that's for sure, maybe some interviews with the creators, the producers, some of the people involved in bringing this show to life, but there are several comments and specification here and there. This is certainly my own preference, I have to admit, and has nothing to do with the quality of the material.

However, it's a book I'll be going back to. Castlevania: The Art of the Animated Series is a book that gave me a lot of ideas, the images made me think about different things, improved my creativity, and give some kind of guide on how to develop concepts and stories, characters and developments. Gorgeous, useful, and full of the gothic fantasy we love. There's not a reason not to get it!
