Feliz viernes, Nocturnos. ¿Qué planes hay para hoy? Quiero compartirles uno de mis discos favoritos, un álbum que he escuchado bastante y que me mantuvo inspirado mientra escribía Alterno Nerva. Se trata de Disguise, de Motionless In White.

Es un disco poderoso, lleno de potencia en todos los sentidos. La voz de Chris es la estrella indiscutible, volviéndose melodiosa o gutural dependiendo del caso, explorando distintos estilos pero manteniéndose fiel a la esencia oscura del disco. Me encantó que explorar nuevas direcciones en cuanto a su canto, cosa que hace a la perfección.

En cuanto a letras, el disco es bastante social, con temas tan directos como Holding On To Smoke, podría decir que

también, el cual incorpora elementos electrónicos que volvemos a encontrar en la sexta pista, Broadcasting from Beyond the Grave: Death Inc. Otras como Legacy  y Headache ofrecen una visión personal del mundo, casi fatalista, y nos muestran el lado más cruel de una mente que se ha puesto en contra de sí misma. ¿Favoritas personales? Los sincellos Brand New Numb y Another Life; esta fue convertida en una poderosa balada en el EP más reciente de la banda.

Disguise es un disco polifacético y que explora tantos temas como estilo, con canciones que pueden ser crueles y cínicas, pero también cómicas y románticas. La banda alcanza un nivel de honestidad asombroso con sus letras y ritmos pegajosos, principalmente porque no hay canción que no se disfrute en este disco.

Happy Friday, Nighters. What plans are there for today? I want to share with you one of my favorite albums, an album that I have listened to a lot and that kept me inspired while writing Alterno Nerva. This is Disguise, by Motionless In White.

It is a powerful album, full of power in every way. Chris's voice is the undisputed star, becoming melodious or guttural depending on the case, exploring different styles but staying true to the dark essence of the album. I loved that he explored new directions when it came to his singing, which he does perfectly.

As for lyrics, the album is quite social, with themes as direct as Holding On To Smoke, I could say that

too, which incorporates electronic elements that we find again on the sixth track, Broadcasting from Beyond the Grave: Death Inc. Others like Legacy and Headache offer a personal view of the world, almost fatalistic, and show us the cruellest side of a mind that has turned against itself. Personal favorites? The singles Brand New Numb and Another Life; this was turned into a powerful ballad on the band's latest EP.

Disguise is a multifaceted album that explores as many themes as style, with songs that can be cruel and cynical, but also comical and romantic. The band reaches an astonishing level of honesty with their catchy lyrics and rhythms, mainly because there is no song that is not enjoyed on this record.
