Buenos días, Nocturnos. Tengo las emociones revueltas gracias a un EP que salió ayer sin previo aviso, y que cuenta con la participación de una cantante que me encanta y admiro muchísimo, al igual que la banda que nos dió esta sorpresa. Se trata de Another Life / Eternally Yours: Motion Picture Collection, de Motionless In White.

Producido por Justin DeBlieck y mezclado por Steve Sopchack, este disco breve pero poderoso consiste en dos versiones orquestales de dos canciones favoritas de los fans, la primera de su más reciente disco, Disguise (la semana que viene les hablo al respecto) y la segunda de uno de mis álbumes favoritos, Graveyard Shift. Considerando que son una de las bandas de metalcore y gótico más conocidas y admiradas, un disco así representa una evolución en su discografía.

Ambas canciones, tanto en sus versiones oficiales como instrumentales, le dan escalofríos a cualquiera, y tocan ese punto sensible, vulnerable que preferimos mantener escondido. Soy fanático de la versión de Another Life con Kerli por la forma en que se combina su voz con la de Chris Cerulli, mucho más elegante pero siempre poderosa en ambas pistas, y no puedo negar que me identifico muchísimo con su música, pero Crystal Joilena no se queda atrás, parte esencial de una poderosa balada de piano sobre el amor eterno.

Aunque breve, este disco representa un buen paso en el crecimiento de Motionless In White, y demuestra lo versátiles que son como banda. El sonido es fresco, novedoso, fiel a sus raíces y melodías, conservando la fuerza que siempre los ha caracterizado, pero reinventando su sonido como nunca antes. Solo quisiera que hubiese sido más largo.

Según explicó Chris, el próximo álbum de MIW será más pesado que Disguise, pero luego de este trabajo sería también una opción sacar un disco con este estilo. Sea como sea, Another Life / Eternally Yours: Motion Picture Collection fue una agradable sorpresa que los fans siempre vamos a apreciar. Una muestra más de que esta banda es imparable.

Produced by Justin DeBlieck and mixed by Steve Sopchack, this short but powerful record consists of two orchestral versions of two fan-favorite songs, the first from their latest album, Disguise (I'll tell you about it next week) and the second. from one of my favorite albums, Graveyard Shift. Considering that they are one of the best known and admired metalcore and gothic bands, such an disc represents an evolution in their discography.

Both songs, both in their official and instrumental versions, give chills to anyone, and touch that sensitive, vulnerable point that we prefer to keep hidden. I'm a fan of the version of Another Life with Kerli because of the way her voice blends with Chris Cerulli's, much more elegant but always powerful on both tracks, and I can't deny that I identify a lot with her music, but Crystal Joilena is not far behind, an essential part of a powerful piano ballad about eternal love.

Although brief, this album represents a good step in the growth of Motionless In White, and shows how versatile they are as a band. The sound is fresh, novel, faithful to its roots and melodies, preserving the strength that has always characterized them, but reinventing their sound like never before. I just wish it had been longer.

As Chris explained, the next MIW album will be heavier than Disguise, but after this work it would also be an option to release an album with this style. Be as it may, Another Life / Eternally Yours: Motion Picture Collection was a pleasant surprise that fans will always appreciate. One more proof that this band's unstoppable.
