Cómic: Grim #2

Hay lecturas que llenan, otras que sorprenden, y otras que se sienten de una manera extraña. Hay lecturas con las que no sabes cómo sentirte. Tenía tiempo sin pasarme algo así, pero fue el caso con Grim #2, de Stephanie Phillips y Flaviano, que no me desagradó, pero tampoco fue lo que esperaba. ¡Gracias a la editorial por enviarme una copia a cambio de una reseña honesta!

Jessica Harrow se encuentra atrapada entre los mundos de los vivos y los muertos, ¡algo que ningún otro reaper ha experimentado jamás! ¿Qué es lo que la hace tan especial?

¿Podrá regresar al más allá y qué sucederá exactamente ahora que puede caminar entre los vivos? ¡El misterio se profundiza en esta nueva serie de la aclamada escritora Stephanie Phillips (Harley Quinn) y el artista favorito de los fanáticos Flaviano (New Mutants)!

Tengo sentimientos encontrados con este número. Muestra subtramas bastante prometedoras y con ideas atractivas, como la secuencia de apertura que toma mucha fuerza por lo breve que es, y justamente luego de ello es que las cosas se ponen interesantes con Jess y su grupo. Se ve de inmediato que hay secretos, segundas intenciones, y podría decir que hasta una conspiración de por medio, lo cual en conjunto te hace leer aún más rápido.

El efecto es mayor si le agregamos el arte majestuoso que hay páginas tras página. No puedo señalar un solo panel que se vea mal, colores que desentonen, líneas fuera de lugar, ni nada por el estilo. Todo está muy bien cuidado, hecho con infinito amor y dedicación. Con solo dos número los colores se han sementado como uno de los principales atractivos que tiene esta serie.

Sin embargo, cuando llega el momento de la verdad, es una escena confusa en la que no termino de entender qué es lo que pasa. La leí varias veces, unas cinco, sin exagerar, y solo me preguntaba qué está pasando. Disfruté más con el inicio y el desarrollo, pero con el final no tanto porque justo esperaba algo mejor. No dejaré de leer, porque este universo es atrapante, aunque sí es un poco desilusionante.

Grim #2 me dejó con un sabor agridulce al terminar, con más preguntas que respuestas, no precisamente en el buen sentido, pero sigo apostando por este mundo y sus personajes. Comparado con el anterior, este número no llenó mis expectativas del todo, aunque sí mantiene la atención del lector por medio de un buen desarrollo y un arte excelente por donde se lo mire.

I hadn't had something like this in a long time, but it was the case with Grim #2, by Stephanie Phillips and Flaviano, which I didn't dislike, but it wasn't what I expected either. Can she make her way back to the afterlife, and what exactly is going to happen now that she can walk amongst the living? The mystery deepens in this new series from acclaimed writer Stephanie Phillips (Harley Quinn) and fan-favorite artist Flaviano (New Mutants)!

I have mixed feelings about this issue. It shows quite promising subplots with attractive ideas, such as the opening sequence that takes a lot of strength because of how short it is, and it is right after that that things get interesting with Jess and her group. It is immediately clear that there are secrets, ulterior motives, and I could even say a conspiracy involved, which together makes you read even faster.

The effect is greater if we add the majestic art that there is page after page. I can't point to a single bad looking panel, clashing colors, misplaced lines, or anything like that. Everything is very well cared for, made with infinite love and dedication. With only two issues, colors have become one of the main attractions of this series.

However, when the moment of truth arrives, it is a confusing scene in which I don't fully understand what is happening. I read it several times, about five, no exaggeration, and I was still wondering what's going on. I enjoyed the beginning and the development more, but not so much the end because I was just expecting something better. I won't stop reading, because this universe is captivating, although it is a bit disappointing.

Grim #2 left me with a bittersweet taste at the end, with more questions than answers, not exactly in a good way, but I'm still betting on this world and its characters. Compared to the previous one, this issue didn't fully meet my expectations, although it does hold the reader's attention through good development and excellent art wherever you look at it.
