Detrás del Disfraz: ¡Nuevo libro! / New book!

Buenas buenas, gente bonita. Vengo con buenas noticias. La semana pasada fue demasiado intensa. No se imaginan cuánto. Sin embargo, en medio de todo el desastre pude publicar mi copia de Detrás del disfraz: Volúmen 3, una antología editada por Tinta Venezolana en colaboración con Tertulia de Letras y Escritores. ¡Gracias a ellas por la oportunidad!

Carnaval suele celebrarse con grandes fiestas y desfiles en todo el mundo, es donde niños y grandes dan rienda suelta a la fantasía y la imaginación.

Muchas historias florecen durante estas fechas, cuando en las calles se respira el maquillaje y la diversión.

Esta Antología reúne la visión de 10 escritores que desde su ingenio te llevarán hasta la magia que envuelven los carnavales, y también te develará los secretos que siempre se esconden detrás de un disfraz.

¡Las letras se convierten en fiesta, sonríe y atrévete a soñar!

Me enteré con apenas tiempo de esta iniciativa, así que me puse a escribir tan pronto como pude. Entre tantas ideas que tenía, con los recuerdos de Broadway todavía frescos en la memoria, me dejé llevar por la música de la noche. Así fue cómo nació mi relato La Máscara, una historia que transcurre en un club nocturno y un ángel que hechiza con su voz.

Poder ver El Fantasma de la Ópera fue una experiencia mágica que atesoraré por siempre. Aunque he sido honesto con respecto a mi opinión de la novela original, eso no me ha impedido disfrutar de la idea y una adaptación en cómic. Cuando me senté a escribir, la música de Andrew Lloyd Webber seguía dándome vueltas en la cabeza.

El elemento más emblemático de carnaval para mí han sido las máscaras, y el fantasma de Leroux usa una para ocultarse, la usa por vergüenza. De repente me pregunté cómo sería algo así en un contexto actual. ¿Y si en vez de ópera fuese música electrónica? ¿Y si los colores fuesen de neón? ¿Y si todos usaran máscaras para bailar, ser libres, pero alguien la usara para ocultar otra, una invisible? Y me puse a escribir.

Estoy feliz con el resultado, me sentí inspirado como no lo había estado hace tiempo, y me atreví a probar algo diferente en ese relato. Admito que solo conozco a Jonaira Campagnuolo de entre mis co-autores en este volúmen, pero estoy emocionado por leer a los demás, junto con los volúmenes uno y dos de la misma antología.

Publicar esta antología no fue tan sencillo como mis demás libros. Tuve que enviar varios correos a Amazon para confirmar que tengo los derechos necesarios, para confirmar mi identidad, hasta que finalmente me dieron el visto bueno para la tapa blanda. Sigo esperando para que esté en digital, ¡pero confío en que será pronto!

Hello hello, beautiful people. I come with good news. Last week was too intense. You can't imagine how much. However, in the midst of all the disaster I was able to publish my copy of Detrás del disfraz: Volúmen 3 (Behind the Costume: Volume 3), an anthology edited by Tinta Venezolana in collaboration with Tertulia de Letras y Escritores. This anthology brings together the vision of 10 writers who from their wit will take you to the magic that surrounds carnivals, and will also reveal the secrets that are always hidden behind a costume.

I found out about this initiative with little time, so I started writing as soon as I could. Among so many ideas that I had, with the memories of Broadway still fresh in my mind, I let myself be carried away by the music of the night. This is how my story La Máscara (The Mask) was born, a story that takes place in a nightclub and an angel who enchants with his voice.

Being able to see The Phantom of the Opera was a magical experience that I will treasure forever. While I've been honest about my opinion of the original novel, that hasn't stopped me from enjoying the idea and a comic book adaptation. When I sat down to write, Andrew Lloyd Webber's music kept spinning in my head.

The most emblematic element of carnival for me have been the masks, and Leroux's phantom uses one to hide, he uses it out of shame. I suddenly wondered what something like that would be like in a current context. What if instead of opera it was electronic music? What if the colors were neon? What if everyone wore masks to dance, to be free, but someone wore it to hide another, an invisible one? And I started to write.

I'm happy with the result, I felt inspired like I hadn't been in a while, and I dared to try something different in this story. I admit that I only know Jonaira Campagnuolo among my co-authors in this volume, but I'm excited to read the others, along with volumes one and two of the same anthology.

Publishing this anthology was not as easy as my other books. I had to send several emails to Amazon to confirm that I have the necessary rights, to confirm my identity, until they finally gave me the go-ahead for the paperback. I'm still waiting for it to go digital, but I'm confident it will be soon!
