Me daba bastante curiosidad saber cómo podría seguir la historia de Érica porque el volúmen 3 se sintió bastante sólido. Funcionaba muy bien, así que seguir con la serie era un riesgo alto. Sin embargo, el equipo sabe lo que hace. Hay un elenco nuevo, más intriga, una buena dosis de acción y drama, junto con una protagonista más madura.

Se trata de un libro que no se apoya tanto en la sangre y lo grotesco, sino en la tensión, la generación de expectativas, y el ritmo que va aumentando conforme avanzas. El arte se mantiene a la altura, jugando con tonos, sombras, a la vez que refleja las emociones de los personas. El final fue mi parte favorita por lo cinematográfico que se sintió.

Con lo que sí tuve problemas fue con el inicio. Me costó entender qué estaba pasando, y admito que de haber leído los números sueltos puede que no me hubiese convencido del todo, pero la idea es atrapante una vez que le das la oportunidad. Sin embargo, tuve que presionarme más de lo normal para seguir por lo pesada que se me hacía la lectura.

En general, es una lectura que se disfruta a medida que avanzas. Si bien el inicio me pareció cuestionable por el ritmo que manejó, el nuevo arco es prometedor, con un final que te deja con ganas de más y los niveles de curiosidad disparados. Something is Killing the Children Vol. 5 marca un nuevo capítulo en esta serie que no quiero perderme.

I was quite curious how Erica's story could continue because volume 3 felt pretty solid. It worked very well, so continuing with the series was a high risk. However, the team knows what it is doing. There's a new cast, more intrigue, a healthy dose of action and drama, along with a more mature leading lady.

This is a book that relies not so much on gore and the grotesque, but on tension, the generation of expectations, and the pace that increases as you go along. The art keeps up, playing with tones, shadows, while reflecting people's emotions. The ending was my favorite part because of how cinematic it felt.

What I did have problems with was the start. It was hard for me to understand what was going on, and I admit that if I had read the individual issues I might not have been completely convinced, but the idea is captivating once you give it the chance. However, I had to push myself harder than usual to keep going because of how heavy the reading was for me.

Overall, it's an enjoyable read as you go along. Although the beginning seemed questionable to me due to the pace it managed, the new arc is promising, with an ending that leaves you wanting more and the levels of curiosity skyrocketed. Something is Killing the Children Vol. 5 marks a new chapter in this series that I don't want to miss.
