Una tendencia "feminista" problemática / A problematic "feminist" trend

Estoy notando una tendencia que me molesta un poco mucho. Cada vez que encuentro un libro interesante, si se trata de una historia calificada como "feminista", resulta ser una trama en donde los hombres son una basura. Casi nunca hay un personaje masculino decente con importancia. Estoy cansado de historias así.

He leído historias con personajes masculinos, femeninos, agéneros, y pare usted de contar. Sin embargo, recientemente estoy viendo que en las historias que se califican de feministas casi siempre los personajes masculinos son despreciados, menospreciados, y mostrados como un problema, el origen de todo lo que está mal en el mundo.

Hubo un libro en particular, un retelling de cenicienta que me moría por leer, pero que fue una decepción por esto mismo. Hay solo un hombre decente en la historia, y la autora lo asesinó después de un par de capítulos. Todos los demás son misóginos detestables que usan a las mujeres como sirvientas, con solo unos pocos que no tienen ni una pizca de orgullo o aprecio por sí mismos. Lo abandoné a la mitad, asqueado y ofendido. Y así me ha pasado varias veces.

¿Por qué las historias "feministas" tiene que poner al hombre a un nivel tan bajo? Porque sí es cierto que los hombres han maltratado, abusado, dañado, y asesinado mujeres simplemente por ser mujeres, y es cierto que sigue pasando, pero también han habido y seguimos habiendo hombres decentes que tratamos a las mujeres con respeto, amabilidad... vamos, como se debe tratar a cualquier persona.

He leído y visto historias con protagonistas femeninas fuertes, independientes, y la she disfrutado muchísimo. Mérida de Valiente, Emma en The Promised Neverland, Constanta y Magdalena en A Dowry of Blood, y muchas más. Estas mujeres conocen su valor y su poder, no necesitan de un hombre ni de nadie para ser soberanas de sus vidas. Son ejemplos de mujeres feministas que me encantan. Hay hombres que caen bajo en algunas de estas historias, pero también los hay honrados.

En pocas palabras, el mensaje que llega es que una mujer feminista, fuerte, independiente, empoderada, y segura de sí misma, debe odiar a los hombres, y que yo como hombre debo cargar con la culpa de crímenes del pasado. Y no me hagan empezar con la película de Barbie (en realidad, se viene otra entrada, jeje). Hay muchos libros que quiero leer, pero no voy a dudar en abandonarlos si promueven el odio a los hombres. Si no leo libros que promuevan el abuso, racismo, machismo, que romanticen las enfermedades mentales, tampoco voy a leer libros que glorifiquen la misandria.

I'm noticing a trend that bothers me a little too much. Every time I find an interesting book, if it's a story labeled as "feminist", it turns out to be a plot where the men are trash. There's hardly ever a decent male character of importance. I'm tired of stories like that.

I have read stories with male, female, agender characters, and stop counting. However, I'm recently seeing that in stories that are described as feminist, male characters are almost always despised, belittled, and shown as a problem, the origin of everything that is wrong in the world.

There was one book in particular, a Cinderella retelling that I was dying to read, but was disappointed for this very reason. There's only one decent man in the story, and the author murdered him after a couple of chapters. All the rest are obnoxious misogynists who use women as servants, with only a few who have not an ounce of pride or appreciation for themselves. I abandoned it halfway, disgusted and offended. And this has happened to me several times.

Why do "feminist" stories have to put men at such a low level? Because it's true that men have mistreated, abused, harmed, and murdered women simply for being women, and it's true that it's still happening, but there have also been and continue to be decent men who treat women with respect, kindness... come on, as anyone should be treated.

I've read and watched stories with strong, independent female leads, and I've thoroughly enjoyed them. Merida from Brave, Emma from The Promised Neverland, Constanta and Magdalena from A Dowry of Blood, and many more. These women know their worth and their power, they don't need a man or anyone to be sovereigns of their lives. They are the examples of feminist women that I love. There are men who fall low in some of these stories, but there are also honest ones.

In a nutshell, the message that comes through is that a strong, independent, empowered, and self-assured "feminist" woman should hate men, and that I as a man should take the blame for past crimes. And don't get me started on the Barbie movie (actually, another entry coming up, hehe). There are many books that I want to read, but I won't hesitate to abandon them if they promote hatred of men. If I don't read books that promote abuse, racism, machismo, that romanticize mental illness, I'm not going to read books that glorify misandry either.
