Hace unas semanas tuve la oportunidad de leer este manga con una portada preciosa. Me intrigó la sinopsis del dulce angelito de alas negras. Aunque no he leído mucho manga últimamente, no tengo más que curiosidad, así que decidí intentarlo. Hoy quiero hablarte de A Kingdom of Quartz 1, por Bomhat. ¡Gracias a la editorial por enviarme una copia para reseñar!

En un mundo donde los ángeles protegen a la gente contra los demonios, una joven huérfana con alas negras puede tener la clave del destino del reino. Un manga de fantasía oscura exquisitamente dibujado para los fanáticos de Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Made in Abyss y Witch Hat Atelier.Una niña huérfana llamada Blue siempre ha soñado con unirse a las filas de los nobles Ángeles, sirvientes del palacio flotante que protegen el Reino Cuarzo contra los demonios. Sin embargo, Blue no es como los demás niños del orfanato. Mientras que sus incipientes alas de ángel son de un blanco suave, las de Blue son completamente negras, dando lugar a susurros de que está maldita.Un día, el orfanato es atacado por una multitud de demonios. Los ángeles descienden del palacio para hacer retroceder a los demonios, pero Blue observa con horror cómo son asesinados uno tras otro. Justo cuando todo parece perdido, Blue siente un poder oscuro brotando dentro de ella. Puede que sea suficiente para vengar a sus amigos... pero ¿será el coste demasiado alto?
Leí este manga de una sola vez. La idea es interesante y existe la posibilidad de darle un giro al cliché del "forastero con un poder inimaginable". Este primer volumen ya deja entrever cosas interesantes, aunque todavía es un poco predecible, pero es fácil disfrutarlo, sumergirse en este mundo y sentir curiosidad por él.
El arte también es hermoso, con una estética de ensueño que hace que todo parezca adorable pero mantiene esa atmósfera oscura en todo momento. Es ese contraste, a veces incluso una combinación equilibrada de elementos, lo que me atrajo la mayor parte del tiempo, además del guión y las ideas. Es todo tan limpio y fácil de seguir que me sentí como un niño descubriendo nuevamente la magia del manga.
Sin embargo, tuve una relación agridulce con el guión, debido a que era predecible y no tan original como quería que fuera. Hay buenos elementos y un desarrollo atractivo, pero ya puedo ver hacia dónde apuntan la mayoría de las cosas, y es cansado tener esa impresión una y otra vez.
Sin embargo, te recomiendo que le des una oportunidad. Es una bonita historia que te hace retroceder en el tiempo mientras habitas en ella, te hace sonreír mucho y te mantiene preguntándote qué pasará después. Me gustó Blue como personaje y espero verla convertirse en algo diferente a lo largo de la historia. Es demasiado pronto para decir algo al respecto, pero por ahora quiero mantener los ojos abiertos para el próximo volumen.

Yet, Blue is not like the other children at the orphanage. Where their fledgling angel wings are downy white, Blue's are pitch black, giving rise to whispers that she is cursed.One day, the orphanage comes under attack by a host of demons. Angels swoop down from the palace to drive the demons back, but Blue watches in horror as they are cut down one after another. Just when all seems lost, Blue feels a dark power welling up inside of her. It may be enough to avenge her friends...but will the cost prove too great?
I read this manga in one sitting. The idea is interesting and there's potential to have a twist on the "outsider with unimaginable power" cliché. This first volume already hints at interesting things, even if it's still a bit predictable, but it's easy to enjoy it, get immersed in this world, and get curious about it.
The art is also beautiful, with a dreamy aesthetic that makes it all look so adorable but keeps that dark atmosphere at all times. It is that contrast, at times even a balanced blend of elements, which drew me in most of the time, in addition to the script and the ideas. It is all so clean and easy to follow, I felt like a kid again discovering the magic of manga.
I did have a bittersweet relationship with the script, however, due to it being predictable and not as original as I wanted it to be. There are good elements and an engaging development, but I can already see where most of the things are pointing out, and it's tiresome to have this impression over and over again.
However, I do recommend that you give it a chance. It's a nice story that makes you go back in time as you dwell in it, makes you smile a lot, and keeps you wondering what will happen next. I liked Blue as a character and hope to see her growing into something different along with the story. It's too early to say anything about it, but for now, I want to keep my eyes open for the next volume.
