Manga: My Ultramarine Sky

Hace poco leí otro manga que me gustó mucho. Y de la misma mangaka de la que les hablé hace poco. Sigue siendo un historia escolar con drama y humor, pero mejor trabajada, con mejor desarrollo, y personajes que me atraparon desde el primer momento. Se trata de My Ultramarine Sky, por Nagisa Furuya. ¡Gracias a la editorial por enviarme una copia para reseñar!

Desde el primer año de media hasta el segundo año de secundaria, Kai y Ren no solo siempre han estado en la misma clase, sino que también siempre se han sentado uno al lado del otro. Pero en su último año de escuela secundaria, los chicos son asignados a dos clases separadas, y cada día que pasa, Kai siente como si se estuviera alejando cada vez más de Ren... Un día, cuando Kai encuentra a Ren durmiendo en un salón de clases después de la escuela, susurra los sentimientos que no puede expresar en voz alta... y Ren lo escucha. ¿La confesión de Kai los alejará cada vez más, o será la chispa que los hará volver a encontrarse una vez más?

Oficialmente soy fan de esta mujer. Si bien es cierto que ya se nota cuáles son las historias que se pueden esperar de ella, esta vez lo hizo mucho mejor que la vez anterior. Es la típica historia de amor de los amigos de la infancia en el que uno resulta sentir algo más por el otro, pero trabajada de una manera que la hace sentirse nueva.

El arte de Nagisa también mejoró en este volumen, dándole más vida a los personajes y trabajando mejor la atmófera en diferentes escenas. Hubo momentos emotivos que se sintieron suficientemente genuinos como para hacerme contener la respiración. Todos los detalles están bien cuidados, dando un resultado más sólido.

Siento que la historia podría haber dado más de sí de alguna forma. Bien sea siendo un poco más extensa, aunque no una serie de varios volumenes, o con algo que la haga más original. No me malinterpreten: me gustan algunos clichés si son bien trabajados, y Nagisa indudablemente lo hizo con esta historia, pero le faltaba algo adicional que le diera más personalidad.

Con todo esto, es una historia preciosa de autodescubrimiento, honestidad, amistad, y miedos. Tanto Ren como Kai me gustaron como personajes, y el desarrollo estuvo mejor que antes. Es una lectura perfecta para soñar despierto por un buen rato y dejarse llevar por las emociones que a veces se mantienen escondidas. Definitivamente recomendado.

I recently read another manga that I really liked. And from the same mangaka I told you about recently. It is still a school story with drama and humor, but better worked, with better development, and characters that caught me from the first moment. From their first year of middle school to their second year of high school, Kai and Ren have not only always been in the same class—they’ve also always sat next to each other. But in their last year of high school, the boys are assigned to two separate classes, and with each passing day, Kai feels as if he’s slipping further and further away from Ren… One day, when Kai finds Ren sleeping in a classroom after school, he whispers the feelings that he can’t bring himself to say out loud… and Ren hears him. Will Kai’s confession draw them further and further apart, or will it be the spark that brings them back to each other once more?

I am officially a fan of this woman. While it is true that you can already see what stories to expect from her, this time she did much better than the previous time. It's the typical love story of childhood friends in which one turns out to feel something more for the other, but she worked it in a way that makes it feel new.

Nagisa's art also improved in this volume, giving more life to the characters and better working on the atmosphere in different scenes. There were emotional moments that felt genuine enough to make me hold my breath. All the details are well taken care of, giving a more solid result.

I feel like the story could have given more of itself in some way. Either being a little more extensive, although not a series of several volumes, or with something that makes it more original. Don't get me wrong: I like some clichés if they're done well, and Nagisa undoubtedly nailed that with this story, but it was missing something extra to give it more personality.

With all this, it's a beautiful story of self-discovery, honesty, friendship, and fears. I liked both Ren and Kai as characters, and the development was better than before. It's a perfect read to daydream for a long time and let yourself be carried away by the emotions that sometimes remain hidden. Definitely recommended.
