Desde hace tiempo que escuché sobre la idea del falso romance. No recuerdo haber leído algo así, y he estado buscando algo con lo que empezar. Cuando leí sobre este manga, pensé que sería buena elección. Se trata de Kei X Yaku: Bound By Law 1, por Yoshie Kaoruhara. ¡Gracias a la editorial por enviarme una copia para reseñar!

La trama me llamó mucho la atención desde el primer momento, y la forma en que Yoshie Kaoruhara la trabaja también me gustó hasta cierto punto. Siento que las cosas estuvieron un poco apresuradas, pero sigue siendo una narración fluida y efectiva. Es fácil sumergirse en la trama, al punto de olvidarte de la vida real.

El arte es precioso, super limpio, delicado, pero con un dilo que combina con la atmósfera tensa, a veces violenta, que lo impregna todo. Los personajes también se llevan puntos a favor por la forma en que interactúan uno con el otro. Bien pensados y desarrollados, fue fácil dejarse llevar a la vez que entiendes sus (a veces cuestionables) decisiones.

Siento que faltó algo, sin embargo. Los capítulos adicionales fueron entretenidos, pero no agregaron a la historia principal tanto como esperaba. Hubo momentos en que sentí que podría haber tenido más información como lector, o que el ritmo era más lento de lo usual. Más espacio, quizás un capítulo adicional, hubieran marcado la diferencia.

Sin embargo, es una historia fácil de disfrutar, de esas que te atrapan al principio. Tengo curiosidad por saber qué viene más adelante, cómo Ichiro y Shiro van a llevar esta farsa y cómo se va a transformar en un romance (porque es obvio que va a pasar). No fue el mejor de los mangas, si me preguntan, pero tampoco está mal.

Ichiro, an agent with the Tokyo Metropolitan Public Security Bureau, receives orders to make contact with and closely surveil Shiro, a yakuza hotshot whose bed partners include a considerable amount of influential male politicians. The mission takes an unexpected turn when they realize they've both been pursuing the same cold case: the disappearance of Rion Nakaba, Ichiro's senior and Shiro's sister. Determined to uncover the truth, the two secretly team up under the guise of lovers to try and pick up her trail...

The plot caught my attention from the first moment, and I also liked the way Yoshie Kaoruhara works on it to a certain extent. I feel like things were a little rushed, but it's still fluid and effective storytelling. It's easy to get immersed in the plot, to the point of forgetting about real life.

The art is beautiful, super clean, delicate, but with a sharpness that matches with the tense, sometimes violent atmosphere that permeates everything. The characters also get points for the way they interact with each other. Well thought out and developed, it was easy to get carried away while understanding their (sometimes questionable) choices.

I feel like something was missing, however. The additional chapters were entertaining, but they didn't add to the main story as much as I had hoped. There were times when I felt like I could have had more information as a reader, or that the pacing was slower than usual. More space, perhaps an additional chapter, would have made a difference.

However, it is an easy story to enjoy, one of those that catches you at the beginning. I'm curious to know what comes next, how Ichiro and Shiro are going to carry out this charade and how it's going to transform into a romance (because it's obvious that it's going to happen). It wasn't the best of the mangas, if you ask me, but it's not bad either.
