¡Hola, Nocturnos! Hace un poco de tiempo desde la última vez que reseñé fantasía, ¿verdad? Hoy quiero hablarles de una novela que me sorprendió mucho y que me hizo volver a sentirme como un niño. No quiero dar ningún spoiler, ¡así que solo voy a decir que esta novela me afectó más de lo que esperaba! Es una linda historia con un poco de fantasía de cuento de hadas y paganismo, así que definitivamente fue algo que me gustó, pero aún esperaba que solo fuera entretenida y divertida. En realidad, está llena de lecciones y enseñanzas para niños y adultos por igual.

La historia se cuenta desde tres puntos de vista diferentes y te da una imagen totalmente distinta con cada uno de ellos. Los personajes son encantadores, los tres están bellamente diseñados, y solo puedes odiar a uno de ellos, pero solo un poco. Este es un libro que celebra la vieja fantasía de nuestra infancia, por lo que es imposible no enamorarte de él.

Siempre digo, especialmente con los libros cortos, que tienden a ser demasiado cortos, pero este es diferente. Si hubiera sido más largo, creo que habría perdido su encanto, la magia no sería la misma. Hubiera sido solo otra historia de fantasía, con un final sorprendente, dicha sea la verdad, pero no tan poderoso como lo es ahora.

Me gustó mucho cómo The Forest God jugó con los conceptos clásicos y los elementos finales de los cuentos de hadas sin quitarles la magia. Jamie Lackey tiene un estilo hermoso, una mano que creó una maravilla con esta historia con facilidad. ¡Todo fue tan natural que me sumergí en él en poco tiempo! Realmente muy bueno. ¡Necesitamos más libros como este!

The Forest God, by Jamie Lackey, it’s a modern fairy tale you’ll surely enjoy Thanks to the publisher for sending me a review copy through NetGalley!

I don’t want to give any spoilers, so I’m just going to say that this novella affected me more than I expected! It’s a cute story with a bit of fairy-tale-y fantasy and Paganism, so it was definitely something I liked, but I still expected to be just entertaining and funny. Actually, it is filled with lessons and teachings for kids and adults alike.

The story is told from three different points of view and gives you a totally different image with each of them. The characters are lovely, the three of them beautifully crafted, and you can only hate one of them, but only a bit. This is a book that celebrates the good old fantasy of our childhood, so it’s impossible not to fall in love with it.

I always say, particularly with short books, that they tend to be way too short, but this one is different. Had it been longer, I think it would have lost its charm, the magic wouldn’t be the same. It would have been just another fantasy story, with a surprising ending, truth be told, but not as powerful as it is now.

I really liked how The Forest God played with the classical concepts end elements of fairy tale without taking the magic out of them. Jamie Lackey has a beautiful style, a hand that created a marvel with this story with ease. It was all so natural I as immersed in it in no time! Really, really good. We need more books like this one!
