Estoy organizando más mi tiempo, dividiendo lo que tengo que hacer, y decidí que los martes serían para hablar sobre música (ciertos casos aplican, claro), y hay un tema en particular del que les quiero hablar hoy. Within Temptation es una de mis bandas favoritas, los sigo desde hace un tiempo, incluso son la banda con la que descubrí el metal sinfónico. Esta gente lanzó el audio de su nuevo sencillo el jueves pasado, Entertain You, y desde entonces no he dejado de escucharlo.

Musicalmente hablando, el tema se aleja mucho de los estilos pesados de la banda, aunque mantiene el estilo ligeramente electrónico de su más reciente álbum, Resist, lanzado en 2019. Es una canción bien lograda y con un ritmo pegajoso. Lo que me llama la atención más que cualquier otra cosa es la letra. Es muy directa en algunos segmentos, especialmente el coro, cuando la vocalista y fundadora Sharon den Adel canta "Go to hell I'm not here to entertain you." TIene su dosis metafórica, pero es muy, muy directa. Pareciera escrita originalmente para su álbum de 2011, The Unforgiving, pero con el estilo de Resist. Es una combinación extraña, pero que me encanta.

Es una canción que me hubiese encantado haber escuchado cuando estaba en el bachillerato, tan perdido en un mar de gente que no sabía qué significaba ser Alan. Aunque lo sencillo de la letra me deja un sabor un poco agridulce, el mensaje me encanta.

Within Temptation is one of my favorite bands, I have been following them for a while, they are even the band with which I discovered symphonic metal (video only in Spanish.) These folks released the audio for their new single last Thursday, Entertain You, and I've been listening to it ever since.

Musically speaking, the song is a far cry from the band's heavy styles, although it maintains the slightly electronic style of their latest album, Resist, released in 2019. It is a well-made song with a catchy beat. What strikes me more than anything else is the lyrics. It's very direct in some segments, especially the chorus, when vocalist and founder Sharon den Adel sings "Go to hell I'm not here to entertain you." It has its metaphorical dose, but it is very, very direct. It seems originally written for their 2011 album, The Unforgiving, but in the style of Resist. It is a strange combination, but I love it.
