Música: Entertain You - Within Temptation

Buen día, gente. Espero que estén todos muy bien. Ayer tuve una muy buena sorpresa cuando me enteré de que Within Temptation lanzó el video de Entertain You, el primer sencillo de su próximo disco.

Ya les había dicho antes, me encanta que parezca una combinación de la letra al estilo The Unforgiving y el ritmo electrónico de Resist, pero me equivoqué totalmente en la interpretación de la letra. La propia Sharon den Adel, líder, vocalista y fundadora, explicó de qué se trata la canción:

"Siempre hay un grupo de personas en la sociedad que no encaja y de alguna manera siempre tenemos la necesidad de enfatizar que no encajan separándolos, arrinconándolos de muchas maneras: piense en videos virales, peleas en las calles, etcétera. Estas personas no pidieron ser diferentes, simplemente son diferentes. La belleza es que al ser diferentes, estas personas aportan mucho color a nuestra sociedad, ¡ya que nuestra sociedad es tan uniforme! Estas personas no están aquí para nuestro entretenimiento , para que podamos sentirnos bien con nosotros mismos. Si no te das cuenta de eso, tal vez sea hora de reflexionar un poco más y preguntarte por qué estás participando en ese comportamiento".

Resulta que Entertain You es un himno a la individualidad, las diferencias y las subculturas que nutren al mundo, y el video hace mucha justicia al concepto. Como si los hijos de El Cuervo de James O'Barr fundasen un circo de fenómenos, vemos a la banda mostrando su lado más excéntrico.

Que el video esté casi completamente en blanco y negro hace que las tomas se vean aún mejores. Hay un sentimiento de unidad entre todos los "fenómenos" que vemos, por no decir que los empodera y convierte en señores y señoras de su universo, aunque eso es justo lo que me transmite ahora el tema.

Detalles muy bien cuidados, tomas hermosas, una estética que impacta y una historia sencilla pero que refleja muy bien la lucha contra nuestra sombra, hasta volverla una aliada, hacen de este uno de los mejores videos que he visto de Within Temptation. Siguen sin haber mayores detalles del ábum, pero ya es claro que no va a decepcionar.

Good day, people. I hope you are all very well. Yesterday I had a very good surprise when I found out that Within Temptation released the video for Entertain You, the first single from their next album.

I've already told you before, I love that it looks like a combination of The Unforgiving-style lyrics and Resist's electronic rhythm, but I was totally wrong in the lyrics. Sharon den Adel herself, leader, vocalist and founder, explained what the song is about:

"There’s always a group of people in society that doesn’t fit in and somehow we always have a need to emphasize that they do not fit in by singling them out, cornering them in all sorts of ways - think of viral videos, fights on the streets et cetera. These people didn’t ask to be different, they simply are just different. The beauty is that by being different, these people bring so much color to our society, since our society is so uniform! These people are not here for our entertainment, so we can feel good about ourselves. If you don’t realise that, it’s maybe time for bit more self reflection and wonder why you are participating in such behaviour."

It turns out that Entertain You is an anthem to individuality, differences and subcultures that nurture the world, and the video does the concept a lot of justice. As if the children of James O'Barr's The Crow founded a weirdos circus, we see the band showing their most eccentric side.

The fact that the video is almost completely in black and white makes the shots look even better. There's a feeling of unity among all the "weirdos" that we see, not to say that it empowers them and turns them into lords and ladies of their universe, although that's exactly what the track transmits to me now.

Very taken-care-of details, beautiful shots, an aesthetic that impacts and a simple story but that reflects very well the fight against our shadow, until it becomes an ally, make this one of the best videos I have seen of Within Temptation. There are still no details about the album, but it's already clear it won't disappoint.
