¿Qué pasaría si tu familia, tu ciudad natal, toda tu forma de vida se vieran amenazadas por la fuerza? Eso es lo que enfrentó el pueblo de Ucrania cuando el ejército ruso de Putin invadió su tierra soberana, desplazando a millones de refugiados y provocando una crisis internacional que amenaza la democracia en todo el mundo. Pero el pueblo ucraniano se negó a ceder, y estas 9 historias tejen la historia más grande de su resistencia, ¡y lucharon por la Victoria!

Victory for Ukraine es una colección creada por artistas ucranianos durante las primeras semanas de la invasión rusa, canalizando todas sus emociones: su ira, sueños de valor y desesperación en un solo objetivo, ¡una manifestación de la lucha de su nación por la supervivencia!

UNA PARTE DE LOS INGRESOS VA EN APOYO A LA COMUNIDAD DEL ARTE EN EL TERRENO DE UCRANIA.

Se trata de una lectura bastante corta hecha de historias sencillas y directas con mensajes más que obvios: Ucrania no se ha rendido, ni piensa hacerlo. Hay un poco de todo para cada tipo de público, desde el humor hasta la fantasía, drama, e incluso historias con tintes infantiles, todas en un mismo entorno, en un mismo contexto, pero cada una independiente de la otra.

El arte es igual de diverso, con muchos estilos, coloreados, y le da un atractivo bastante particular al proyecto como un todo. Disfruté con todas las historias, pero mis favoritas fueron la 1, 2, 4, y 5, tanto por el guión como por el arte. Cada una tiene una identidad muy marcada, un estilo sólido, y son lo suficientemente interesantes sin importar su brevedad, lo cual siempre me ha parecido un logro.

Sin embargo, sí hubiera preferido algo más extenso, o que algunas historias se hubiesen desarrollado más, dando lugar a más detalles, conocer mejor a los personajes, simpatizar a un mayor nivel con ellos porque, aunque se logra hasta cierto punto, apenas estás sintiendo algo por cada uno cuando de repente todo acaba. Sin embargo, TokyoPop solo se encargó de la traducción de las historias, dejando que sean los mismos ucranianos quienes decidieran cómo contar sus historias, lo cual le da mucha más autenticidad.

En líneas generales, una antología que se disfruta sin problemas y apta para todo tipo de lectores a pesar de los temas que toca. Es una belleza de lectura y solo hubiese preferido más desarrollo, pero tanto las historias on interesantes como el arte es hermoso. Tiene buen acabado, buena dirección, y una identidad marcada.

IF YOU WERE ATTACKED, WOULD YOU FIGHT BACK?

What if your family, your hometown, your entire way of living were threatened by force? That's what the people of Ukraine faced when Putin's Russian army invaded their sovereign land, displacing millions of refugees and causing an international crisis threatening democracy across the globe. But the Ukrainian people refused to cave — and these 9 stories weave the greater tale of their resistance — and fight for Victory!

Victory for Ukraine is a collection created by Ukrainian artists during the first weeks of the Russian invasion, channeling all their emotions - their anger, courage dreams, and despair into one goal, one manifestation of their nation's fight for survival!

A PORTION OF THE PROCEEDS GOES TO SUPPORTING THE ART COMMUNITY ON THE GROUND IN UKRAINE.

It's a fairly short reading made up of simple and direct stories with more than obvious messages: Ukraine has not given up, nor does it intend to. There's a bit of everything for each type of audience, from humor to fantasy, drama, and even stories with childish overtones, all in the same environment, in the same context, but each one independent of the other.

The art is just as diverse, with many styles, colorings, and gives a very particular appeal to the project as a whole. I enjoyed all the stories, but my favorites were 1, 2, 4, and 5, both because of the script and the art. Each one has a strong identity, a strong style, and they're interesting enough despite their brevity, which I've always found an achievement.

However, I would have preferred something more extensive, or that some stories had been developed more, giving rise to more details, knowing the characters better, sympathizing with them on a higher level because, although it is achieved to a certain extent, you are hardly feeling something for each one when suddenly everything ends. However, TokyoPop only took care of the translation of the stories, letting the Ukrainians themselves decide how to tell their stories, which gives it much more authenticity.

In general terms, an anthology that is enjoyed without problems and suitable for all types of readers despite the topics it touches on. It's a beauty to read and I just would have preferred more development, but both the stories are interesting and the art is amazing. It has a good finish, good direction, and a strong identity.
