Cómic: Basilisk #5

Buenos días, gente bonita. ¿Cómo pasaron ese fin de semana? Yo estuve súper ocupado con un proyecto del que pronto les contaré más. ^^ Sin embargo, hoy vengo para algo diferente: un cómic muy entretenido y que me tiene intrigado con qué puede llegar a pasar. Se trata de Basilisk #5. ¡Gracias a la editorial por enviarme una copia a cambio de una reseña honesta!

Después de la impactante conclusión del último número, los miembros restantes de Chimera se reagrupan, resentidos. Después de una confesión profética de Vanessa, ella dice que tienen un destino que cumplir... un sacrificio. Mientras tanto, Regan duda en contarle a Hannah sobre la profecía, pero antes de que pueda hacerlo, se siente abrumada por un dolor auditivo, y Hannah escucha una voz inquietantemente familiar mientras intenta ayudar a Regan...

Luego de leer ese primer volumen, tenía muchas ganas de seguir con la serie y saber qué pasaría con los personajes. En este número vemos un poco más de cómo se desarrolla la dinámica de Chimera, este grupo de superhumanos que planean algo a gran escala. Aunque no hay una historia tan sólida como antes, sí sirve para profundizar más en la mente de cada personaje.

Me llamó mucho la atención la forma en que trabajan los poderes de este grupo. Hay cierto toque de inmortalidad en todo esto, y no puedo evitar pensar que pronto conoceremos de qué realmente son capaces cada uno. Hannah se va ganando mi admiración, por otro lado, y siento que Regan aún no juega todas sus cartas. Aquí hay algo escondido, y parece que lo que viene es buenísimo.

El arte sigue siendo excelente, con colores bastante gráficos, y estridente cuando debe serlo, aunque sin aturdir al lector. Sigue habiendo un equilibrio bien logrado entre guión y arte, así que la lectura se te pasa en una sentada no solo por lo corta que es. Yo diría que mi única queja es que no hubo mayor acción en este número, sino que fue una narración muy pausada, al punto de no sentir emoción o sorpresa en los momentos clave.

Fuera de eso, sigo muy interesado en saber qué será de esta gente. Basilisk #5 es un número que se te pasa volando por el trabajo en equipo que tienen sus creadores. Ninguno sobrepasa al otro, cada uno aportando a lo que podría ser una excelente historia de horror. Aunque esta vez fue un poco lenta, la trama se mantiene interesante y atrapante.

After the shocking conclusion of the last issue, the remaining members of Chimera regroup, sullen. After a prophetic confession from Vanessa, she says they have a destiny to fulfill... a sacrifice. Meanwhile, Regan is hesitant to tell Hannah about the prophecy, but before she can, she's overwhelmed by auditory pain, and Hannah hears a hauntingly familiar voice as she tries to help Regan...

After reading that first volume, I really wanted to continue with the series and find out what would happen to the characters. In this issue, we see a little more of how the Chimera dynamic unfolds, this group of superhumans planning something on a grand scale. Although there's not a story as solid as before, it does serve to delve deeper into the mind of each character.

I was very struck by the way the powers of this group work. There is a certain touch of immortality in all of this, and I can't help but think that soon we will know what each one is really capable of. Hannah is gaining my admiration, on the other hand, and I feel like Regan hasn't played all her cards yet. There's something hidden here, and it seems that what is coming is very good.

The art is still excellent, with quite graphic colors, and strident when it should be, but without overwhelming the reader. There's still a well-achieved balance between script and art, so the reading goes by in one sitting not only because of how short it is. I would say that my only complaint is that there wasn't much action in this number, but that it was a very slow narration, to the point of not feeling emotion or surprise at key moments.

Other than that, I'm still very interested in knowing what will become of these people. Basilisk #5 is an issue that flies by because of the teamwork that its creators have. Neither surpasses the other, each adding to what could be an excellent horror story. Although this time it was a bit slow, the plot remains interesting and engaging.
