Y a veces es una combinación de todas, junto con una buena dosis de creatividad, como es el caso del manga de hoy: Undead Messiah, Volume 2, por Gin Zarbo. ¡Gracias a la editorial por enviarme una copia a cambio de una reseña honesta!

Tim Zachariah Muley ha tenido una semana infernal. Tropezó con un brote masivo de muertos vivientes, rescató a un bebé de una horda sedienta de sangre, escapó del ejército y luego vio cómo su padre infectado era asesinado por el mismo extraño misterioso que todos los demás llaman santo.

Ahora, secuestrado por el salvador antes mencionado, Tim se encuentra rodeado de apóstoles leales con poderes increíbles, zombis salvajes hambrientos de carne y el tipo de conspiración científica que nunca podría haber imaginado en sus pesadillas más salvajes. ¿Quién es este antihéroe secreto y vendado? ¿Cuál es la verdad detrás del virus zombie? ¿Y qué tiene que ver con un jugador adolescente fantasioso?

El mundo de Tim se vuelve cada vez más interesante. Este volumen trae demasiadas respuestas, una dosis de acción, y un guión que te mantiene atrapado leyendo sin parar. El bien el anterior subió mis expectativas, este lo hizo aún más y con buenas razones porque la historia evoluciona de manera impresionante sin descuidar los detalles más pequeños.

Desde el origen de la plaga hasta los tipos de zombis que nos encontramos, varias preguntas se responden sin problemas, además de que aunque el elenco crece bastante esto no afecta el ritmo de la lectura, sino todo lo contrario: se siente mucho más completa, más entretenida, y todo bien ordenado sin que sea sobrecargado.

Sí hubiese preferido un poco más de drama, debo admitir. Tim parece adaptarse y reponerse en cuestión de segundos de las situaciones traumáticas que vive, además de que aparece uno de los clichés que más odio: "No tenemos tiempo, vamos al grano". Me sacó de la narración casi de inmediato.

Sin embargo, es una lectura entretenida, muy diferente en cuanto al tema de los zombis, con varias sorpresas debajo de la manga, y un futuro prometedor. Sé que solo queda un volumen, pero ya estoy ansioso por saber qué pasa después. Gin Zarbo juega con los lectores en Messiah, Volume 2, y lo peor no es que sabes que lo disfrutó, ¡es que te hizo disfrutarlo a ti también! Esta mujer no sabe lo que es el respeto, pero se gana el perdón sin lugar a dudas.

Tim Zachariah Muley has had a hell of a week. He stumbled onto a massive outbreak of the walking dead, rescued a baby from a bloodthirsty horde, escaped from the military, then watched as his infected father was murdered by the same mysterious stranger everyone else calls a saint.

Now, kidnapped by the aforementioned savior, Tim finds himself surrounded by loyal apostles with unbelievable powers, savage zombies hungry for flesh, and the kind of scientific conspiracy he could never have imagined in his wildest nightmares. Who is this secretive, bandaged antihero? What is the truth behind the zombie virus? And what does it have to do with a fantasy-prone teenage gamer?

Tim's world becomes more and more interesting. This volume brings too many answers, a dose of action, and a script that keeps you hooked on endless reading. Although the previous one raised my expectations, this one did it even more and with good reason because the story evolves in an impressive way without neglecting the smallest details.

From the origin of the plague to the types of zombies that we find, several questions are answered without problems, in addition to the fact that although the cast grows quite a bit, this doesn't affect the reading's pace, but quite the opposite: it feels much more complete, more entertaining, and everything well organized without being overloaded.

I would have preferred a little more drama, I must admit. Tim seems to adapt and recover in a matter of seconds from the traumatic situations he experiences, in addition to one of the clichés that I hate the most: "We don't have time, let's get to the point." It pulled me out of the narrative almost immediately.

Nevertheless, it's an entertaining read, very different from the zombie mainstream, with several surprises up its sleeve, and a promising future. I know there's only one volume left, but I'm already looking forward to what happens next. Gin Zarbo plays with the readers in Messiah, Volume 2, and the worst part isn't that you know she enjoyed it, it's that she made you enjoy it too! This woman doesn't know what respect is, but she earns forgiveness without a doubt.
