Hay bandas que van y vienen, unas que se quedan un tiempo, y otras de las que no puedes ni quieres olvidarte. Son bandas que se quedan contigo porque te tocan por dentro, te dan voz, te dan vida. Motionless in White es una de esas para mí, y lo reafirmaron con su nuevo disco, Scoring the End of the World.

Decidí guardar silencio cuando los nuevos temas fueron apareciendo, disfrutarlos por mi cuenta, y a medida que lanzaban otro sencillo, y otro, y otro, hasta que finalmente salió todo el disco, decidí que ya había sido suficiente. Motionless in White gritaba de una manera tan hermosa que no podía quedarme callado más tiempo.
Combinando el sonido pesado que los caracteriza con toques electrónicos y cinemáticos, la banda alcanza un nuevo nivel de poder. Temas como Werewolf, Cyberhex, Red, White, Boom, que me recordó mucho a Marilyn Manson, o mi favorita, Masterpiece, una balada desgarradora que no te deja indiferente, se te meten en las venas cada vez que las escuchas, incapaz de cansarte. La crítica social es un elemento importante en la mayoría de las pistas, lo que lo convierte en un álbum interesante donde la banda no tiene miedo de mostrar lo que piensa.
Sin embargo, algunas de las letras se quedan cortas. Temas como Porcelain, Burned At Both Ends II, o incluso Slaughterhouse, el tercer sencillo, apuntan tan alto y ponen tanto esfuerzo que llega a ser desmedido y la potencia se pierde con letras un tanto burdas. Se disfrutan, no lo niego, pero la ejecución podría haber estado mejor.
Me pareció interesante que las canciones se referenciaran una a la otra, o incluso fuesen continuaciones de temas pasados. Motionless in White no se quedó en una zona segura y apostó como grupo a algo diferente con muy buenos resultados, convirtiéndose en una orquesta salvaje que se vuelve adictiva. Scoring the End of the World cierra con broche de oro gracias a su canción titular, dejando al oyente a la expectativa. Se siente como si el siguiente disco estuviera a la vuelta de la esquina.

They are bands that stay with you because they touch you inside, they give you a voice, they give you life. Motionless in White is one of those for me, and they confirmed that with their new album, Scoring the End of the World.

I decided to stay quiet as the new songs came out, enjoy them on my own, and as they released another single, and another, and another, until the whole album finally came out, I decided enough was enough. Motionless in White was screaming so beautifully that I couldn't stay silent any longer.
Combining the heavy sound that characterizes them with electronic and cinematic touches, the band reaches a new level of power. Tracks like Werewolf, Cyberhex, Red, White, Boom, which reminded me a lot of Marilyn Manson, or my favorite, Masterpiece, a heartbreaking ballad that won't leave you indifferent, get into your veins every time you listen to them, unable to get tired of them. Social criticism is a major element on most tracks, making for an interesting album where the band aren't afraid to speak their minds.
However, some of the lyrics fall short. Songs like Porcelain, Burned At Both Ends II, or even Slaughterhouse, the third single, aim so high and put in so much effort that it becomes excessive and the power is lost with somewhat crude lyrics. They're enjoyable, I don't deny it, but the execution could have been better.
I found it interesting that the songs referenced each other, or were even continuations of past tracks. Motionless in White didn't stay in a safe zone and bet as a group on something different with very good results, turning into a wild orchestra that becomes addictive. Scoring the End of the World closes with a flourish thanks to its title song, leaving the listener in suspense. It feels as if the next record is just around the corner.
