Tan pronto como terminé el anterior, tuve que empezar este volumen. El mundo de los creadores se vuelve cada vez más atrapante, cada vez más interesante, y el final de este primer arco llenó muchas expectativas. Se trata de Something is Killing the Children Vol. 3, por James Tynion IV y Werther Dell’Edera. ¡Gracias a la editorial por enviarme un ejemplar a cambio de una reseña honesta!
NO TODOS LOS MONSTRUOS SE OCULTAN EN LA OSCURIDAD.Archer's Peak está encerrado, ya que Erica Slaughter ha perdido el control de la situación y las noticias de los asesinatos se han extendido fuera de la ciudad. Pero cuando la Casa de Slaughter llega para limpiar la situación por todos los medios necesarios, Erica descubrirá que la verdadera amenaza para quienes la rodean no es quién, o qué, ella esperaba. Y el costo de salvar el día puede ser demasiado alto para que cualquiera lo pague...
Esta es la antítesis de los dos anteriores, en donde hay desarrollo y acción a partes iguales, suficiente tensión para enloquecer a cualquiera, y un final que se acerca como una bestia salvaje ominosa de la que no se puede escapar. Tampoco es como que uno quisiera, porque el final es bastante dinámico luego de un volumen excelente.
El guión y el arte van de la mano esta vez, sin eclipsarse el uno o el otro. Ambos dan tanta información como es posible, haciendo de la lectura una experiencia completa, además de que es un volumen que se lee en una sentada. No pude soltarlo desde que lo empecé, y estoy seguro de que muchos estarán de acuerdo conmigo cuando le pongan las manos encima.
Sigo pensando que podría haber sido más largo, que el final merecía mucho más espacio, que quería ver más de Erica en acción, pero considero que esta gente aprovechó el espacio que tenían muy bien. Puedo ver por qué ha conseguido tantos fans, y es porque el mundo está tan bien creado que te transporta sin darte cuenta sino hasta que ya has terminado de leer.
Something is Killing the Children Vol. 3 fue más que una lectura. Fue una experiencia. El final es lo suficientemente abierto como para seguir, pero de haber terminado definitivamente me hubiese dado por satisfecho. Como primer arco, funciona muy bien, y este cierre es excelente en muchos sentidos. ¡No puedo esperar a ver qué sucede ahora!

The world of the creators becomes more and more engaging, more and more interesting, and the end of this first arc filled many expectations. NOT ALL MONSTERS HIDE IN THE DARK.Archer’s Peak is in lockdown, as Erica Slaughter has lost control of the situation and news of the killings has spread outside the town. But as the House of Slaughter arrives to clean up the situation by any means necessary, Erica will find that the true threat to those around her isn’t who - or what - she ever expected. And the cost of saving the day may be too high for anyone to pay...
This is the antithesis of the previous two, where there's equal parts development and action, enough tension to drive anyone crazy, and an ending that approaches like an ominous, wild beast from which there's no escape. It's not like you wanted to either, because the ending is quite dynamic after an excellent volume.
The script and the art go hand in hand this time, without overshadowing one or the other. Both give as much information as possible, making reading a complete experience, plus it's a volume that can be read in one sitting. I couldn't put it down since I started it, and I'm sure many will agree with me when they get their hands on it.
I still think it could have been longer, that the ending deserved a lot more space, that I wanted to see more of Erica in action, but I think these people used the space they had very well. I can see why it has gotten so many fans, and it's because the world is so well created that it takes you without realizing it until you're done reading.
Something is Killing the Children Vol. 3 was more than just a read. It was an experience. The ending is open enough to go on, but if it was over I definitely would have been satisfied. As a first arc, it works very well, and this closure is excellent in many ways. I can't wait to see what happens now!
