¡Buenos días, Nocturnos! Espero que estén bien. He estado leyendo un libro HERMOSO, precioso, bello, algo así como uno de los amores de mi vida. Siempre me han gustado los cuentos de los hermanos Grimm por la creatividad que hay en cada uno de ellos. The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales, de Jacob Grimm  y Wilhelm Grimm, con ilustraciones de Arthur Rackham, es una edición a cargo de la editorial Rock Point que me tiene enamoradísimo. ¡Gracias a la editorial por enviarme una copia para reseñar a través de NetGalley! La edición en sí está super cuidada, con muchas ilustraciones, tanto a color como a blanco y negro, cosa que me encanta. En caso de que alguien crea que los cuentos no son suficientemente mágicos, las ilustraciones de Arthur Rackham le aregan aún más misticismo y fantasía a la lectura. Me hubiese gustado que al final incluyera más ilsutraciones, porque de repente parecía que no había más nada, eso sí.

Los cuentos como tal están lejos de ser desconocidos, algunos muy similares entre sí, y hay varios que son MUY macabros. Sin embargo, todos te llevan a un mundo de magia, de reyes, reinas, príncipes, brujas, princesas, amores prohibidos, y tantas cosas que llega un momento en que dejas de sentir que estás en el mundo de real. De repente estás en esos innumerables e interminables bosques, hablando con animales, plantas, descubriendo las aventuras de seres extraordinarios de la mano de ilustraciones preciosas.

Me encantó la introducción al principio, explicando el origen de los cuentos, junto con la vida de los Grimm, el mundo en que vivían, la forma en que este y otros proyectos fueron tomando forma, hasta llegar a la edición que conocemos hoy en día. No obstante, es lejos de ser la primera o la más antigua. ¿Sabían que, por ejemplo, Rapunzel era originalmente un cuento erótico? Los Grimm se tomaron algunas libertades al trabajar en esta recopilación, cosa que muchos ignoramos.

Esta edición de The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales viene con una línea de tiempo de la vida y obra de los hermanos Grimm, en donde podemos ver qué estaba pasando en el mundo a medida que ellos trabajaban en esta obra maestra. Finalmente, para quienes quieran seguir leyendo, cierra con una lista de lecturas recomendadas para seguir descubriendo y encantándose con este mágico mundo. Una edición preciosa que enamorará a cualquiera.

I have always liked the stories of the Brothers Grimm because of the creativity in each one of them. The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales, by Jacob Grimm and Wilhelm Grimm, with illustrations by Arthur Rackham, is an edition by Rock Point publishing house that has me in love. The edition itself is super neat, with many illustrations, both in color and black and white, which I love. In case anyone thinks the tales aren't magical enough, Arthur Rackham's illustrations add even more mysticism and fantasy to the reading. I would have liked it to include more illustrations at the end, because suddenly it seemed that there was nothing else, though.

The tales as such are far from unknown, some very similar to each other, and there are several that are VERY macabre. However, they all take you to a world of magic, of kings, queens, princes, witches, princesses, forbidden loves, and so many things that there comes a time when you stop feeling that you are in the real world. Suddenly you are in those countless and endless forests, talking with animals, plants, discovering the adventures of extraordinary beings from the hand of precious illustrations.

I loved the introduction at the beginning, explaining the origin of the tales, along with the life of the Grimms, the world they lived in, the way this and other projects took shape, until we reached the edition we know today. However, it is far from the first or the oldest. Did you know that, for example, Rapunzel was originally an erotic tale? The Grimms took some liberties working on this compilation, which many of us ignore.

This edition of The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales comes with a timeline of the life and work of the Brothers Grimm, where we can see what was happening in the world as they worked on this masterpiece. Finally, for those who want to continue reading, it closes with a list of recommended reading to continue discovering and being charmed by this magical world. A beautiful edition that will make anyone fall in love.
