Buenos días, nocturnos. ^^ Espero que estén muy bien. Con todo lo que ha estado pasando este 2020, he tenido mucho tiempo para leer. Algunas lecturas buenas, otras no tanto, pero ha sido un año interesante, por decirlo de una manera decente. Ya que este año está por terminar, quise hacer una recopilación de mis lecturas favoritas hasta ahora. ^^ Por orden alfabético, para evitar cualquier favoritismo, encontrarán nueve libros oscuros, de fantasía y hasta romance, junto con un segmento de la reseña. ¡Mis recomendaciones para Octubre, en pocas palabras!
Good morning, nighters. ^^ I hope you are very well. With everything that has been going on in 2020, I've had a lot of time to read. Some good readings, some not that much, but it's been an... interesting year, to put it in a decent way. Since this year is almost over, I wanted to make a compilation of my favorite readings so far. ^^ In alphabetical order, to avoid any favoritism, you will find nine dark, fantasy and even romance books, along with a segment of the review. My recommendations for October, in a nutshell!

My poor little heart shouldn't put up with those levels of anxiety, but to hell with it. ES: Esta es una novela con un ritmo muy pausado, llena de descripciones y detalles que te sumergen en el mundo oscuro creado por Jamie Thomas. Es una historia que so muestra lo peor que puede pasar cuando una sociedad se deja dominar por el miedo, los estigmas y los prejuicios, con personajes tan humanos que sientes su dolor en carne viva.

ES: Me sorprendió lo oscuro y a veces hasta violento que se vuelve el libro, considerando que es para niños. No hay nada muy sangriento o gráfico, pero sí hay algunas escenas subidas de tono. Esto le dio un toque mucho más interesante a la trama, la hizo más atractiva y recuperó el encanto de la película original, la cual dudo sería igual si la hicieran hoy en día. Grimhilde se destaca por su frialdad, y Serena Valentino la presenta muy bien.
EN: I was surprised by how dark and sometimes even violent the book becomes, considering it is for children. There's nothing very bloody or graphic, but there are some racy scenes. This gave the plot a much more interesting touch, made it more attractive, and regained the charm of the original film, which I doubt would be the same if it were made today. Grimhilde stands out for her coldness, and Serena Valentino presents her very well.

ES: Más de una historia me puso los pelos de punta, y algunas fueron hasta chistosas. Al tratarse de una antología, es imposible que te gusten todos los estilos y todas las ideas, pero diría que me gustó un 80% del libro, y ya eso debería decirles algo. Encabezado por Rebecca Wojturska, este fue un proyecto con muy buenos resultados, escritores y narradores con mucho talento, haciendo uso del arte como mejor saben hacerlo. Mis felicitaciones a todos los involucrados.
EN: More than one story made my hair stand on end, and some were even funny. As it is an anthology, it's impossible that you like all the styles and all the ideas, but I would say that I liked 80% of the book, and that should tell you something. Headed by Rebecca Wojturska, this was a very successful project, talented writers and storytellers, making use of art as best they can. My congratulations to everyone involved.

ES: Hunter Shea disfrutó mucho al escribir esta novela. Lo noté cuando me sumergí en la trama, me preocupé por los personajes, y sentí su dolor y sus alegrías. La lectura te envuelve de una manera impresionante por los detalles y la manera en que todo está construido. Lo más tétrico es que... todo esto podría pasar, que la leyenda existe y los miedos son reales.
EN: Hunter Shea really enjoyed writing this novel. I noticed it when I immersed myself in the plot, cared about the characters, and felt their pain and their joys. The reading envelops you in an impressive way by the details and the way everything is built. The most gloomy thing is that... all this could happen, that the legend exists and the fears are real.

ES: Tanto Devon como Rhoa son personajes muy humanos, con sus cualidades y sus defectos, y ambos se complementan a la perfección. Runas tiene sus momentos de dramáticos, pero es más que todo una historia divertida en donde cada página te hace sonreír como idiota. No encuentro nada de qué quejarme esta vez, y vaya que presté atención a la hora de leer, pero Runas es un debut maravilloso, muy bien pulido. Adrián Abramo Penilla sabe cómo contar una buena historia, ¡y voy a esperar ansioso la siguiente!
EN: Both Devon and Rhoa are very human characters, with their good qualities and flaws, and they complement each other perfectly. Runas has its dramatic moments, but it's mostly a funny story where each page makes you smile like an idiot. I can't find anything to complain about this time, and boy did I pay attention when reading, but Runas is a wonderful debut, very well polished. Adrián Abramo Penilla knows how to tell a good story, and I'm going to look forward to the next one!

ES: Vathek es una novela llena de excesos, de escenas exuberantes, personajes deplorables y, como bien lo dicen las preguntas para discutir al final, no hay héroe alguno (aunque Joe R. Lansdale dice que Vathek es un héroe en la introducción; creo que me perdí de algo, porque difiero). Esto hace que sea una novela única y que te sorprende desde el primer momento. Una novela gótica totalmente diferente a lo que te esperas.
EN: Vathek’s a novel filled with excesses, exuberant scenes, deplorable characters, and, as the discussion questions say it at the end, there is no hero (although Joe R. Lansdale said Vathek is a hero in the introduction; I think I missed something, because I differ.) This makes it a unique novel and that surprises you at all times. A Gothic novel different to all you expect.
