Reseña / Review: Blood Moon

Buenos días, gente bonita. ¿Qué tal va su semana?  Hoy les traigo un libro que me gustó bastante y me tuvo entretenido por un buen rato. Hay varias ideas que me llamaron la atención, y si bien no es perfecto, disfruté mucho con Blood Moon, de Aubrey Law, el quinto libro de su saga Revenge of the Witch. ¡Gracias a la autora por enviarme una copia a cambio de una reseña honesta!

Y la luna se hizo como sangre.

Una misteriosa luna roja comienza a convertir a miles de personas en vampiros y a despertar monstruos antiguos. Annis, Skye y Gretchen deben descubrir la fuente de la Luna de Sangre para evitar que el planeta sea gobernado por criaturas de la oscuridad.

Pero el precio de la salvación puede requerir un gran sacrificio. Más de lo que nadie está dispuesto a pagar.

¿Podrá Annis enfrentarse a sus peores pesadillas para salvar la vida de sus amigos y del mundo?

La historia es bastante interesante y hay varias escenas en donde te preguntas qué va a pasar. Annis ha sido tan imparable y brutal en los libros anteriores que estuvo muy bien verla en una posición más vulnerable. Si hay algo que detesto son los personajes perfectos, y Annis peligraba mucho antes de este libro. Sin embargo, Aubrey Clark mantuvo todo bien balanceado.

Aunque hubo muchos seres mágicos y bestias en los libros pasados, Blood Moon fue especialmente monstruoso, lleno de criaturas tanto nuevas como conocidas, y varias salidas de las leyendas que ya conocía. Hubo más de una vez en que me pregunté qué sería de este grupo, disfrutando de la intriga y los nervios que ellos mismos sentían.

Sin embargo, me quedaron dudas por responder. ¿Que pasó en este universo que hizo a Dios perder la fe? ¿Por qué ofrecer esa solución? Hay oportunidad de encontrar las respuestas en los siguientes libros, pero hubiera preferido una explicación aquí. También hubo escenas que no me convencieron del todo: diálogos que eran más largos de lo que deberían o escenas faltas de descripciones.

Si bien es cierto que tuvo sus bajos, Blood Moon no decepciona. Es una novela fácil de seguir, muy entretenida, con una buena dosis de acción, y un desarrollo que te mantiene leyendo hasta el final. Y vaya final, agridulce y hasta irónico. Estoy lejos de abandonar la serie, y espero que haya más que decidan darle una oportunidad.

There are several ideas that caught my eye, and while it's not perfect, I really enjoyed Blood Moon, by Aubrey Law, the fourth book in her Revenge of the Witch saga. A mysterious red moon begins turning thousands of people into vampires and awakening ancient monsters. Annis, Skye, and Gretchen must discover the source of the Blood Moon to prevent the planet from being ruled by creatures of darkness.

But the price of salvation may require great sacrifice. More than anyone is willing to pay.

Can Annis face her worst nightmares to save the lives of her friends, and the world?

The story is quite interesting and there are several scenes where you wonder what's going to happen. Annis has been so unstoppable and brutal in the previous books that it was nice to see her in a more vulnerable position. If there's one thing I hate, it's flawless characters, and Annis was in jeopardy long before this book. However, Aubrey Clark kept everything well balanced.

Although there were many magical beings and beasts in the past books, Blood Moon was especially monstrous, filled with creatures both new and familiar, and various taken from the legends I already knew. There was more than one time that I wondered what would become of this group, enjoying the intrigue and the nerves that they themselves felt.

However, I still have questions to answer. What happened in this universe that made God lose faith? Why offer that solution? There's a chance to find the answers in the following books, but I would have preferred an explanation here. There were also scenes that didn't quite convince me: dialogues that were longer than they should or scenes that lacked some descriptions.

While it's true that it had its low points, Blood Moon doesn't disappoint. It's an easy to follow novel, very entertaining, with a good dose of action, and a development that keeps you reading until the end. And what a bittersweet and even ironic ending. I'm far from abandoning the series, and I hope that there are more who decide to give it a try.
